The Teahen's D At Third thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 6, 2010 -> 03:48 PM) Which wouldn't make any since with Juan Pierre on the team. And I for one still think it's risky to have Andruw in the OF everyday. Which would be required when talking about DH only players like Vlad, Matsui and Thome. Well, Juan Pierre can hit the road in this hypothetical situation. And I'm sure Vlad and Matsui could play a game or two a week in the OF, allowing Jones to DH once in a while and stay a little more fresh.

The Teahen's D At Third thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 6, 2010 -> 12:55 PM) Andruw Jones has made Matsui, Thome and Vlad irrelevant. Call it luck or KW really believing in AJ. But the signing has been a total coup to this point. I don't know about that. We could still use one of them as a DH with Jones in the OF.

Paul Konerko's contract
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 6, 2010 -> 02:38 PM) yeah, Johnson has a lot to admire at the plate, but he doesn't exactly stay healthy, I don't want to see the Sox target him as an everyday player The Sox do seem to have some skill at keeping guys healthy, though.

Former NFL Star Lawrence Taylor Arrested
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 6, 2010 -> 10:57 AM) There are so little facts out about this case, how could you possibly say that? You know some professional athletes are grade-A assholes and actually have abused and raped women? Are there money grabs? I'm sure there are, but there are also many sexual assaults that occur and charges aren't pressed because these crimes can be difficult to prove in a criminal court. Exactly. And if it's true that she's 15, well that just takes it down another level. It's ridiculous to automatically assume it's a "money grab" right off of the bat.

Paul Konerko's contract
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 4, 2010 -> 06:33 PM) Is that really true? Boston fans are fairly intelligent as far as baseball fans go...they have to realize how terrible he's been...they really would be upset if the team let Ortiz walk? Yeah...caulfield isn't right.

MMA Thread
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ May 4, 2010 -> 06:16 PM) For me, nothing beats the Sox in the playoffs. But since I'm a hardcore MMA fan, there a lot of fights that I consider big fights, and big fights interest me more than any regular season game in any other sport. So I put MMA ahead of everything else for that reason. Because they're so damn rare.

Paul Konerko's contract
I've always felt (and I have no idea how the statistics back this up over the life of his contract) that Konerko seemed to give the team average to a little below average in terms of power for a 1B. At the time he signed the contract, it seemed like we overpaid a bit and probably had a year too many on it, but we sort of had to given that we had just won a WS and we didn't really have another option. Now that the contract is expiring, it looks like it has been very fair or maybe just slightly too much money. EDIT: Oh, but I cannot stand the lack of hustle Konerko shows when he's in a funk. The shrug and slow (even for him) trot to first base. If he's really a team leader, he'd run out those outs hard.

2010 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 4, 2010 -> 03:52 PM) But it could feasibly be more, right? There isn't a limit? According to everything I've ever known about the game of baseball, there would be no limit. It's one of the reasons why a baseball game is never really over until the final out is recorded. You could be down 100-0 with two outs and a full count in the bottom of the 9th of a perfect game, and there is still an actual chance of winning. In football, hockey, and basketball, that's not the case. Due to a game clock, at some point it becomes humanly impossible to score enough points/goals in a given amount of time.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 3, 2010 -> 09:35 PM) Rios celebrating the birth of a child in style. I think the most stylish way to celebrate the birth of a child is to make another one.

Juan Pierre loses leadoff role
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 3, 2010 -> 05:41 PM) He does if he's hitting .280, let alone .300. I mean it's really that simple. JP is a career .301 hitter in 6064 career plate appearances coming into this year. He's hitting .202 this year. Has he declined so much over one 6-month off-season that his average has dropped 100 points off his career mark? I'd say hell no. I was joking about how terrible he's been.

2010 AL Central Catch-All
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ May 3, 2010 -> 05:32 PM) I think he was just throwing out a made up name and saying he'll go 4 for 5. And he was right. And I think Leonard was being extremely sarcastic.

Juan Pierre loses leadoff role
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 3, 2010 -> 05:03 PM) Like it or not, JP has no value on THIS team if he's not leading off. There's just no better option. Blame Ozzie/KW for the construction of the roster until you're blue in the face. It's just fact. He also has no value on this team if he's leading off.

Donny Lucy sent back to AAA
QUOTE (knightni @ May 2, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) I could see Flowers and Lucy together as a catching pair in Chicago next year. Going entirely off of their names, that has to be the sissiest catching duo ever.

Nobody grounds out to 2nd like Mark Kotsay
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ May 2, 2010 -> 12:23 PM) We lost with A-ram leading off, won with Vizquel leading off, and Rios isn't even with the club right now. Can we take 3-4 steps away from the ledge or are we all jumping off at this point? I see nobody jumping off the ledge in this thread. And having won a single game with Vizquel leading off hardly justifies having the man in a starting role, let alone at the top of the order.

Nobody grounds out to 2nd like Mark Kotsay
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ May 2, 2010 -> 12:12 PM) needed its own thread for sure It sort of does. Taking Pierre out of the lead off spot, only to replace him with Omar Vizquel and Mark Kotsay. It honestly seems like Ozzie is trying to get fired.

The Teahen's D At Third thread
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ May 2, 2010 -> 09:38 AM) If we ever have to move Teahan to LF down the line, I wonder if we can get by like that. Sure, that's a weak bat to have in LF, but depending on the roster it might be passable. Between him and Rios, respectively at LF and CF, we could be getting some 37 HR yearly combined from those two positions. Maybe. I suppose his versatility is a reason for the contract. And our extreme need for LH bats This team wouldn't know anything about weak bats in LF.

April Catch All White Sox Thread

How good are The Rays?
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 11:30 PM) Allegiances to other teams? Like who? The Marlins? That's right. They can't draw fans either. Despite the fact they've won two world series in their history. What exactly is the criteria for the great people of Florida to get up off their asses and support the local baseball teams? Outside of football, Florida is just a horrible sports state. And Howell has been on the DL all year due to shoulder problems. He should be back next month. As you said, it's not a good baseball state. I would think anyone who was picking out of those two teams would have gone with the Marlins anyway, due to their earlier success. And a good portion of people are probably transplanted fans of other teams. I just don't see them getting too popular.
