  1. Being that it's Chuck Norris' birthday, I had the urge to look up some of the Chuck Norris facts. There are some great newer ones out there.
  2. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 10:53 PM) I'd love to hear an argument for anyone other than Rivera. His closest competition is Joe Nathan and he trumps him in all the important closer-related stats doesn't matter if it's a 1, 2 or 3 year scale. I mean just as basic as you can get; Rivera's WHIP over the past 2 seasons is 0.78 and he's blown a total of 7 saves over the past 3 years. That's crazy. Over the past 3 seasons his K/BB is nearly 2.5 points higher than his closest competitor. You say Nathan's been the best closer in baseball for a while but even as I try now I can not build a case for that theory. And you say that Rivera's the best, but as LittleHurt mentioned on the first page over the past six years: Nathan Rivera Saves 246 243 Save % 90.8 93.1 ERA 1.87 1.90 K/9 11.1 8.7 Opp. BA .182 .206 WHIP .093 .094 Those are some incredibly similar stats. I said best, and then changed it to say it's arguable that either of them has been the best.
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 08:12 PM) Here's a interesting tidbit. Matt Thornton was a 2.5, right after Broxton. I'd say that seems right since Matt was probably the best reliever in baseball last year who was not a full-time closer. Really makes you wonder if we should have traded Bobby this off-season while he still had some value. He really didn't have much value, though. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 08:25 PM) I actually like Nathan when he's not pitching against the Sox, but I won't miss him. Suddenly, the AL Central became a wee bit more interesting. Same here.
  4. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 11:45 AM) One of, one of. Mo has held the crown for quite some time and still does. I agree that he and Rivera are at the very top, but to say Rivera is simply still the best is arguable.
  5. It seems that all of my opinions have already been stated, but I have no problem repeating them. This is very good news for the White Sox since Nathan has been the best closer in baseball for a while, although you never like to see this happen to such a (seemingly) good guy. I had no idea Nathan was that old. And if any team can throw in some nobody and not lose a step, it's the Twins.
  6. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 10:25 AM) I know the expectant Dads are getting roped into the baby showers more often than not (I was), but I'm not sure how often male friends get invites to them. I'd send a gift and find an excuse. I know virtually nothing about baby showers, but my initial impression is that his friend wants one of his buddies there to have someone he can hang out with during it.
  7. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 11:32 PM) On that same note, any movie that needs a Mexican-American, it's always Cheech Marin or Edward James Olmos... I guess, if this were 10-20 years ago.
  8. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 11:07 PM) Yea, lol...I googled Avatar similar to Dances with Wolves and got a lot of hits...I was as high as a kite when I watched it with my brother and I told him of the similarities and noticed Wes Studi's voice was in Avatar and he played a Native American in DWWs... Don't watch entertainment tonight type shows nor do I read critic's reviews so I didn't realize it was out there. That's not saying much. In any movie that requires a Native American, you will find Wes Studi. Graham Greene is probably the second person on that list.

  10. QUOTE (G&T @ Mar 5, 2010 -> 06:08 PM) Try Humphrey Bogart. I've seen a good amount of his movies. I still prefer Tracy.
  11. I recently watched Inherit The Wind. I'm really getting into these older movies, and I'd have to say that Spencer Tracy is my favorite non-current actor.
  12. That title was somewhat misleading.
  13. Haha, thanks. I also find it funny that they have the gallons of water in Lake Michigan down to such a precise number.
  14. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) So if my math is right, 600 million metric tons of water is about 1,322,775,960,000 pounds (earth gravity) of water! Being as one gallon of water weighs 8.34 pounds, that's roughly 158,606,230,215 gallons of water. that's a s*** load of water! Can someone compare that amount to an amount I might comprehend? Like the size of some other body of water on Earth?
  15. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 10:30 PM) Hot Rod is a f***ing awesome movie, maybe because I have a friend who is just like Rod in real life (except for the stunts, but his personality is just like that). I really expected it to be a terrible movie (and I love the Lonely Island guys). I love that movie.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 12:07 PM) I think the new Nightmare on Elm Street has a chance to be good too. Im interested to see Jackie Earle Haleys take on Freddy. Me too. I like him and I think he'll make a good Freddy. A few of my brother's friends went to The Crazies last night (don't ask me why they'd go see this particular movie at midnight on opening night). They said it was pretty good. Sort of one of those movies you expect to suck but ends up being all right.
  17. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 03:38 PM) I am amazed everyday by the number of people my age who have never seen Blazing Saddles. My generation as in the current college/high school people. I'm 24 and all of my friends know and love it. I also voted it #1 in the comedy poll.
  18. I recently finished the first season of Deadwood. I really enjoyed it, and those were some great performances from Ian McShane and Brad Dourif.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 08:10 AM) Completely agree on all of the above. Glad you like my review
  20. I just watched Big Fan. Patton Oswalt did a great job in it. I think he's hilarious and I like him a lot, but his character was easily one of the most unlikeable people I have ever seen on film or TV. You usually root for a pathetic loser, but I couldn't help but root against him. And that somehow tells me that he put in a damn good performance. The movie itself was OK to pretty good...it hasn't really sunk in enough yet to know. Very good surprise ending, though.
  21. QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 24, 2010 -> 10:41 AM) unfortunately my online sarcasm-o-meter is pretty unreliable, but for the record there really are people out there who still only think global warming is an evil liberal fabrication. I know first hand. What I'm saying is that I can't believe there are still people who would say, "It's getting colder, so much for global warming!". It's hard to believe that people still don't know anything about the concept at all.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 11:13 PM) Yeah, possibly. But when you see it, you will know what I mean. I'm sure. In fact, I'm one of those people who probably would b**** either way.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) um, yeah, this Swiss curler has a tongue ring. Just sayin. Tongue rings are somewhat confusing. They're only for the thing you're thinking of if they are located more toward the back of the tongue. I know from experience and being greatly let down by it.
  24. QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 11:10 PM) ... it is. global warming is a misused phrase, what we're really dealing with is climate change - a shift in weather patterns. No offense to you, but does anyone really not know this by now?
  25. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) Wow. We didn't have boos. I read the book and was really expecting they would re-work the ending. Was shocked when they didn't. And then people would b**** because they changed the story.
