  1. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 09:19 AM) I agree with King of the Hill, I've followed it since it began. What I hate, and it's the same with Simpsons reruns, is I rarely come across an episode I haven't already seen. Usually with the Simpsons and KOTH it'll have to be a newer episode from within the last two years, when work and drinking conflicted with Sunday television viewing. I honestly believe the Simpsons has been strong these last two seasons. Their material is a lot sharper and wittier than previous years. There was a period, from probably 2004-2007, where nearly every episode I viewed was unbearable. I can at least tolerate it enough to forsake valuable DVR space on Sundays. Until now, I've probably seen two episodes of Futurama. There are 30 episodes of the show backlogged on my DVR that I have yet to watch. I don't know what it is about the show, but it's as if I always have intentions of watching it, yet something else comes up that I feel is more important and I ignore it. That's basically how I viewed the show when it was on FOX, and now Cartoon Network. I love Futurama not only because it's funny, but because it has such a great sense of continuity. They constantly refer back to earlier episodes (including the pilot) and never seem to contradict themselves.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 09:49 PM) I know. They wrote that! I'm all for character development, just they need to make good characters. Aren't these actual events and people?

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) Dude, you don't strike me as a guy who laughs easily, trust me, save the 9 bucks. You're right, but I still try to enjoy movies for what they were intended to be. A movie like this seems to be the kind that doesn't take itself seriously and has some crude laughs.

QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 01:29 PM) Nooooooooooooo it wasnnnnnnnnnnnt. Stop misguiding people. I just didnt laugh in that movie at all, really. I've heard the exact opposite from every person I know that saw it, plus all of the critics I pay attention to.

Why would it be surprising to anyone that it tastes great? I've never had it, but that's the first thing I thought when I first heard of it.

That screen shot really makes Guy Pearce look like Tom Selleck.
  7. Congratulations.
  8. I like it. It's a nice wall.
  9. QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 02:12 PM) To each their own. You don't have to stand, you don't have to remove your hat, you can eat your nachos during it, or you can hoot and hollar and scream USA or GO HAWKS. It's your choice as a citizen of the country they are playing the anthem for. I personally stand and remove my hat, even put the hand over my heart, but to each their own. The noise level increases when the song is winding down in anticipation of it being over and the game getting ready to start at all sporting events. Hawks games are just louder throughout the singing, but I think it is far less a patriotic roar in most cases and more of hey let's get fired up for "kickoff, tip off, face off, first pitch" etc. Also a really long version by the singer usually is greeted with groans almost as if saying c'mon let's get this meaningless ritual over and get to the game! It's true that it is your choice, but it certainly isn't patriotic to do any of those things in the first bold part.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 01:19 PM) The most badass alphabet ever I laughed my ass off at F and I.
  11. QUOTE (T R U @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 03:19 AM) I saw MAYBE three moves from Goldberg that entire match.. a back drop, a spear, and a jackhammer.. Yeah, Regal wasn't floppin around the ring like he was getting destroyed but when I heard you guys talkin about it and how bad it was I was expecting him to get back up after a spear or something like that.. Consider the time frame. Goldberg probably hadn't even taken part in a match that lasted a minute at that point.
  12. QUOTE (SnB @ Mar 25, 2010 -> 08:52 PM) The office had a fantastic rebound episode tonight The more I watch that show, the more I hate Steve Carell's character. The more I see anything (including just commercials) with Steve Carell, the more I hate Steve Carell.
  13. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 25, 2010 -> 05:19 PM) Nope. That spin kick for no good reason. Punches, spears and jackhammers. Other than when Bret Hart, CJ, Malenko, and Benoit did it, I wasn't really a fan of technical wrestling. I understand you have a different preference, but I have to laugh at the bold part. It's like listing wearing wrestling shorts or the ability to collect a routine pinfall as a moveset.
  14. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 25, 2010 -> 02:17 PM) I'd also love to see Goldberg. My favorite wrestler moves wise from WCW only because he was so intense and huge and used nothing but high impact moves. Still mad that he injured the Hitman though. Are you kidding? He had two moves, and both depended almost entirely on the opponent selling them to even make them look good. I believe it was William Regal who no-sold a whole match against Goldberg to make him look like the talentless asshole he was.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 25, 2010 -> 01:27 PM) Hot Tub Time Machine getting surprisingly good reviews. 77% on Rotten Tomatoes right now. I don't think it's surprising. It looks funny.

QUOTE (NIUSox @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 11:58 PM) Randomly got the urge to watch "Sudden Death" with JCVD so I went to the netflix website thinking that it might be one that you can watch instantly, but no they don't even have it on dvd. Bummer. That was on earlier today on one of the movie channels.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 06:20 PM) I really don't care if it starts an argument, because the other side has no argument. Anybody who thinks cheering something is in an way disrespectful is ridiculous. It's cheering! The ultimate expression of approval at a sporting event is cheering. Yes, everyone is in agreement on that. I don't think a single person in this thread has said otherwise. I'm saying that you're going to make an argument where everyone already agrees by now stating that cheering during the anthem is more respectful than quietly standing with your hat over your heart. That's what I find ridiculous.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 02:45 AM) The guy that wrote this garbage is just a jealous, whiny little Red Wings fan trying to be an attention whore. To his credit, he did get a lot of national attention for this opinion, but it's absolute, complete garbage. Anybody who has actually been to a Blackhawks game knows that the cheering is not at all disrespectful in the slightest. As far as i'm concerned, it's 100 times more respectful than standing there in silence like somebody just died as is the case during the anthem at just about every other event. I cannot believe this has even got as much attention as it has. The entire idea of the cheering is a combination of respect, patriotism, and excitement over the impending start of the game. I don't know what is more American than that. The good news is that politically correct to the extreme weenies like this guy will never get their way here, since the only way to stop this tradition is to not do the anthem. Let's not get ridiculous here. You're only going to start an argument between all of the people in here who already agree that this writer is wrong.
  19. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 08:24 PM) Yeah, I noticed yours in the other thread after I had posted. You beat me, straight up! Pay that man his money.
  20. QUOTE (3E8 @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 11:42 PM) So glad to have Breaking Bad back. The scenes tonight around the border of Texas were so creepy yet beautifully shot. And Hollywood has pretty much desensitized me to explosions, but the one at the end was just f***ing cool I know the show gets good ratings, but nowhere near enough people are watching it. Bryan Cranston is such a great actor. He's won the last two Emmy's for best actor, and I can honestly say I've been emotionally invested in rooting for him.
  21. QUOTE (GREEDY @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 09:59 PM) For years on this board and others, I have bashed Dye's defense in RF and I have been met with a fair share of protest. Some more dellusional than others, but for the most part it seemed that more people than not think JD was/is a solid option in RF. And clearly, a strong majority, if not all MLB GMs seem to believe that Jermaine cannot play as an everday outfielder; and JD doesn't want to be paid as a 4th OF or DH, hence the current extra time to spend with the fam. So what rock did all of you crawl under this offseason? And is Hawk or Rongey under there with you? You have it completely backward. I believe the majority of posters knew he wasn't a great outfielder, especially in the last three years.
  22. Congratulations.
  23. QUOTE (hogan873 @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 06:24 AM) I was impressed by Justified. I figured it would be good, but it was better than I thought. Both Timothy Olyphant and Walton Goggins are great. I had read a review that Olyphant's character was a lot like his Seth Bullock from Deadwood, but I think he's better in Justified. I thought his character in Deadwood was too stoic and didn't have enough dialogue. The character of Bullock was far from stoic. He lost his temper repeatedly and beat people within inches of their lives. You could say he was quiet for sure, not stoic.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) I didn't like the Incredibles particularly much. I think it was my least favorite out of the bunch, which isn't saying a lot, because it isn't like I hated it or anything. It was just meh for me. I completely agree with that.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) I really have to go back and watch Monsters Inc. that was easily my favorite Pixar film prior to the release of The Incredibles. Given that the last time I saw it I was about 15 years old I wonder how it would sit with me at age 23, I could see myself enjoying it even more now that I'd be able to spot the nuances of the film and comprehend more of the references. (The Simpsons Effect, if you will) Monsters Inc. is my favorite.
