Super Bowl XLIV
QUOTE (zenryan @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 08:10 PM) The Who sucks. Horrible selection. That was one of the better halftime shows in recent memory. Daltrey definitely didn't sound too into it, though. And The Who does not suck.

I can't believe I missed that!
QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 10:29 PM) I had tickets to game 4 of the '05 World Series in Houston and missed it because I had to see about a girl. That you, Robin?

Buehrle would consider retirement
I think it's absurd that so many of you would consider him a fool for passing up an offer for more money. If the man decides to retire, I'm sure he's considered how much money he's already accumulated. The man has his own priorities, and he seems to have them straightened out pretty well. Mark Buehrle doesn't care about his career statistics or his chances at the Hall of Fame. He (probably) has more money than he, or his children, will ever need. He doesn't need to squeeze every last dime out of his playing career. I respect the hell out of him for that.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Feb 3, 2010 -> 02:08 PM) it's a shame that AN EDUCATION hasn't gotten more attention - it's a flawless film w/terrific performances and a good story. No 3D, though. I have to go w/hurt locker - just a good old fashioned war movie that has no political objective. refreshing. I haven't seen it, but I'm hearing that Alfred Molina got screwed by not getting a nomination for Supporting Actor.

I'm pretty sure Hurt Locker will still win Best Picture. I think it's also a shoo-in that Waltz takes home the Best Supporting Actor. I'm guessing Bridges for Best Actor (due to all of the hype I've been seeing recently), but it wouldn't surprise me for Clooney to win.

Joe Mauer Signs for 10 years?
QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 05:41 PM) Mauer's going to be overpaid within 4 or 5 years - when he can't be a catcher anymore. Yeah, a 10-year deal for anyone doesn't seem too smart to me. I understand that they probably had to go with a long contract to keep him there, but what are the chances that he's even a catcher for that length of time, let alone the very good chance of injury.

QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 09:45 AM) Yeah, that was just a tentative card, they could go alot of ways with it, I just am dreading anything that involves undertaker + title and Sheamus + title And sad to see Rumble being used the way it was! I have a feeling you wouldn't be happy with the results no matter how it played out.

I love me some cinnamon rolls and all, but I usually have to wait for the icing to solidify a little before digging into one.

About a year ago, my friend and I watched a Royal Rumble from the early 90's (might have been late 80's). I remember having a discussion about how we can make an argument that each one of the contestants could be put into the hall of fame. Now you watch, and there's about 5 guys like that and you can guarantee just a couple have a chance of actually winning.

Favorite Chicago Food Spots
Phil's Pizza on 35th and Aberdeen. I'm used to how good it is by now, but whenever I have people in town from other areas of the country, they love it. Flaxx, what the hell is a fried ketchup taco?

Looking at that list, Spielberg and Lucas have done ok.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 11:02 AM) I never knew anything of the novel and I know the ending was changed(Knowing the novel ending I think for the better) but I loved the movie. Probably a top3 movie of the year for me. I knew nothing of the book either, and I loved the movie. The ending was changed? After looking over the Wikipedia outline of the book, I don't see any difference between the endings.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 10:41 AM) Sure if you just look at all the bad, there is a lot of good the human race has done too, even in that movie it shows some good in how people risk their lives to help save someone with no benefit to themselves. Exactly, plus it's not as though each and every society on Earth has a history of genocide and mass executions.

QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 09:30 AM) A couple buddys of mine (who are grown ass men mind you) think is is hilarious to continue to repeat "f*** you're face" to each other over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again when they are drinking. Grow up,its not funny at all and its annoying. Why should someone act grown up when they're drunk? Just last night, I had a discussion with a few friends about how fart noises are funny no matter how old or educated you are.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 09:38 AM) you evil bastard. When I was little my dad and I shoveled out a spot in front of our house. Then we ran to the store to get some more ice for the sidewalks and our neighbor had parked his car in our spot when we got home. Im not talking downtown streets where there is no parking. There was tons of parking when I used to live and everyone had driveways. Well he parked in our clean spot instead of in front of his own house. My dad pushed his car with our car in to the middle of the street and left it there. I agree with people saving their spots 100%. Your dad's awesome.

"Chicago Things" you don't like/do
QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 12:40 AM) When I went to Florida State for school, I was told that I didn't have a Chicago accent...except when I said one thing..."Chi-cahh-go" By the way, most of you are lames... I got the same thing in Boston, except I pronounce it Chi-caw-go (which I believe is the correct pronunciation). And you really can't be more from Chicago than I am. I can hit USCF with a rock from my house.
