Chicago @ Tampa Bay - ALDS Game 1
Milkman delivers replied to Heads22's topic in 2008 Season in Review
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:44 PM) .860 OPS or away from Safeco though. Oh and Brian, Perez is a FA this off-season, and will get a pretty lucrative deal. If he leaves the Mets, then Vazquez to them is a definite possibility. If Vazquez actually only gave up 4ER over 6 innings here, is that a decent enough outing? At least he's given us a chance to win I guess. No, not at all, especially since he gave up all of those runs immediately after we scored ours. It took away all of our momentum. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:40 PM) Im watching the game where Bartlett hit a weak grounder to third for a single. Im watching the game where the Rays went to sacrifice on the next pitch but instead Maddon out manages Ozzie and has Iwamura swinging. Im watching the game where the Sox continue to pitch to Longoria with 2 outs. Could Javy done better? Sure. But the facts are in this case he is not being put in a position to succeed. Outside of what 3 hits no one on the Rays has even come close to hitting the ball hard? God, someone is still defending this pussy? What is wrong with you? -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:27 PM) Now would you go that far? If his plane home crashes after the season, I'll have to really work at it to feel bad. I swear I wouldn't feel bad. I hate this man more than anyone I ever knew. -

There are no words to describe my hatred for Javier Vazquez. If terrible, terrible things were to befall him, I would smile. -
Why is nobody in there?

If BA was in center in the 5th inning . . .

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 07:35 PM) anderson could've easily uncorked one of those airmail throws to the backstop that we've seen him toss. you act as if his arm strikes fear into opposing teams. Anderson is a legend...on soxtalk. He would've thrown the ball home in order to stop Cuddyer from advancing to 3rd from 2nd earlier in the inning? My point was that Cuddyer wouldn't have advance to 3rd base on the fly out earlier in the inning. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 07:58 PM) Ah, I forgot about that. Let's instead say, his biggest start with the Sox. That'll due. Let's just hope those two starts turn out very differently.

They wouldn't have sent him, as Cuddyer wouldn't have moved into 3rd base on Anderson, as he did with Griffey. And I completely agree with IlliniKrush. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 10:45 AM) Has to be done. This is Vazquez' biggest career game, right here. Let's see you show that talent when it matters most, Javy. I would have to say his start in the 2004 ALCS was much, much bigger.

Wow, I think people are really taking this guy's post out of context.

I hate Vazquez more than anyone on this site, and he IS undeniably a terrible big-game pitcher, but this move sort of has to be made. The 2004 playoffs really stick in my head, though.

QUOTE (Dan @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 10:19 PM) this thread does not deliver He's right, and I would know. As I said in the winner thread, Ozzie really managed a great game today (and the last few days). And I think it's pretty obvious that the guy who started this thread was only asking that Ozzie not call out opponents because Blackburn pitched a very solid game against us after being called out.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 09:54 PM) I think we saw a boy become a man tonight. YES! Helluva game, Danksy! I know you meant this as a congratulations to Danks, but he's been our best pitcher this entire year. He was a man long before tonight. I love John Danks.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 05:02 PM) Minny at home: 53-28 Sox at home: 53-28 Minny on the road: 35-46 Sox on the road: 35-46 The Sox are just as much of a garbage team on the road as the Twins are, although the Sox are 31-30 on the road when not playing in a dome. When playing in TB, MIN, and TOR the Sox are 4-16. Those numbers do show a disadvantage for the Sox, but then again that disadvantage would be very small considering the quality of competition. TB might be the best team in baseball (what would the Angels' record look like if they didn't get all that ALW padding?), the Twins are a playoff contender, and Toronto for most of the season had an excellent pitching staff. I'd say overall the dome disadvantage is overblown and the results of our playing in domes mainly show that we've faced top competition and our team isn't all that great. Kind of went off track there but whatever. Playing at home is a huge advantage for us though, especially against Blackburn who really isn't all that good. PS I had a dream Danks went 8 innings today giving up just one run. I hope I'm psychic. I'm glad you aren't. Damn close, though

Oh man, I'm shaking! Danks (our ace, as I've said), Jenks, AJ, Thome, Griffey, and Anderon. I love seeing Thome and Griffey step up to get themselves into the playoffs maybe one last time. -
AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!

I somehow now have confidence that we'll beat the Twins, and quite possibly take the first series of the playoffs against the Rays. -
Get in there.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 03:03 AM) I would encourage all of you to email Oz as I am telling him that's stupid. Feel free to fly out of O'Hare or Midway. True Sox fans don't blame him or if they blame him don't want to yell at him in person. They blame the injury gods and the baseball gods. Just ask Mets fans how s*** happens in this damn lovable sport. That's bulls***. So, we can't question the manager or else we're not real fans?

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 11:46 PM) I'm not saying I believe it, I'm just curious as to how this began. Something I read in some thread somewhere on here, and then driving home from the game today I think it was Holmes or Rogers on WSCR that said something to that extent, and later said IF Walker gets another offseason to work on things with Nick he might bounce back. Then there are the rumblings that he's unhappy, feels the pressure (which I hadn't heard of until today...). I'm of the opinion that down years are not unheard of, and even then the guy had his HR total in the mid 20's, and stepped in nicely at first when Paul was down. Writing him out of this story is rash and premature to say the least. That sounds like they could be questioning if Walker will be back. A valid question, too.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 12:06 PM) I know the feeling. Last night me and my wife saw a commercial where a female singer is singing "Ground Control to Major Tom", and we started arguing about who the singer was. I couldnt find it online anywhere And the song is actually called Space Oddity. It's a common misconception.
