QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 8, 2008 -> 09:13 AM) Be careful - if she doesn't like it, she may give your Donga Punch. How has nobody said anything about this yet? That might be one of the funniest things I've ever read on this site. It was perfect.

QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 05:53 PM) Keep your chin up Milkman! I don't think this is your usual, goddammit-we-lost-now-HERE'S-what-I-would do thread. Some of us have been saying for months that we should do this, that. And I still feel the same way, although I was totally, pleasantly surprised by how far we got. Last week was unforgettable. But now that it's all said and done--and I'm not upset--let's get to fixin things. Can you imagine how good we could be in '09 if we got this far with THIS TEAM? I see nothing but optimism to hold, as long as we don't try to trot out another station-to-station slow team next year. Keep a couple, but let's remodel. The other good news: Danks, Floyd--KEEPERS. I'd say we're in good shape. And Swish will come around. No, I'm not saying that at all. It's just that I hate when all there is to read is "Here's my opinion on how we should handle ____ situation."

To be honest, I didn't read this thread. I probably never will. And I mean no offense to joe in saying this, but I want to put this out there. This is easily the worst part of the season (and not just because the Sox just lost). It's terrible because there are 14 new threads a day about everyone's opinion on what should be done to the team. It's every bit as bad as Trade Winds, excluding the actual trade rumors. I am never interested in reading the vast majority of threads created at this time of the year.

The guy just batted .247 this year. For a guy like Uribe, that's plenty, and basically all I've ever wanted out of him offensively. Re-sign him.

Javy got booed during introductions?

If I were there, I'd have booed louder than anyone. But, I don't think that's news here. Yoda, perfectly said. -

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 09:01 PM) Tonight- GO ANGELS For the series- GO RED SOX If the Sawx win the series and if we magically come back and win ours, we have homefield in the ALCS. I'd rather not have home field advantage and play the Angels. -

QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 07:47 PM) true indeed it is unique that the 2 wildcard teams would sweep the best teams. hell, it would also mean only 5 teams are left, and the white sox is one of them... dam The Dodgers weren't a wild card team. -
"Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Chicago Cubs NLDS"
Milkman delivers replied to Brian's topic in The Diamond Club
Well, the White Sox have won more playoff games in 2008 than the Cubs. No matter how our series ends, that will definitely make things easier. -
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 11:21 AM) I dont know, they used that theme through 2006 and 2007, and it didnt seem to change things. Since when did you get so superstitious? I'm very superstitious when it comes to baseball, especially the playoffs.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 09:51 AM) I think they felt the black towels were somewhat counterproductive because they really couldnt be seen against the black background I was thinking that maybe the Sox should switch opening themes from "thunderstruck" to "Back in Black". It would be fitting, and Im sure the crowd would react Well, my main problem with switching to white towels is that we won with the black towels. You do not change anything in this type of situation. And switching the opening theme would be the same thing.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 11:36 PM) Nice rack on the left there! Is that what you were showin' us?.... I was just about to say, "look at that set of tits." Apparently they were hard to miss. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 12:31 AM) Saito is awful against the Cubs. Torre might want to remember that if this is close in game 3. Joe Torre is an incredible in-game manager. He assuredly put Saito in there for a reason, and will know what to do with him in the future. -

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 12:22 AM) Geez, that Frank C as McCain commercial was the worst one yet, and I didn't think that was possible. His Tony Soprano impersonation seemed to be pretty good. -
I'm thinking of buying a camera. It's definitely not something I need, but I have this feeling like I should own one. I really don't want to spend more than $200. Is it even possible to buy a quality camera for that much? Any suggestions?

One Man's Timidity Can Set the Tone

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 09:56 PM) Its true I am a lawyer, but Im not a criminal lawyer so some times I sue some times I defend, really just depends on who my client is As for defending Javy, Im not. Im just saying that some people are being ridiculous calling for hurt on him, that people are starting to make Javy a scape goat. They are not mutually exclusive, Javy can be at fault and fans can be over reacting. Im just tired of reading about Javy, just like I was tired about reading about Garland, just like I was tired about reading how Floyd sucked. I just dont see the point on ragging on a player constantly, how is that constructive? How is that in any way going to do anything? Maybe I just remember the days when the Sox didnt even win 1 game from their 5th starter and now we have people who are to good for Javy. Does anyone remember the seasons before 2005 and the parade of garbage that used to pitch for the Sox. I guess its not so much defending Javy as it is that Im sick of reading half the posts on these boards. Not to mention, Javy may be with the Sox next year. If he is, Im going to give him a chance just like any other player. That's the thing. Blindly supporting a player also isn't constructive, nor does it help anything. We, as fans, can't do anything to change how the guy pitches. But, we can make known how we feel about the guy, and sometimes we need an outlet to vent our frustrations with players like Vazquez. Many of us see this site as a place to do this. -
He would actually have one more run-in with the super buddies. After the game, YASNY happened upon the severely beaten super buddies in an alley, apparently falling victim to someone wielding a poorly-fashioned cane. But, that's a story for another time.

One Man's Timidity Can Set the Tone
Milkman delivers replied to Friend of Nordhagen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 07:13 PM) Why would the players be mad at Javy? From what I remember Javy has been given some of the most brutal defensive plays over the last 3 years by his team. Today there was a dropped ball on potential double play, a pop up to left field that no one decided to even try for, and 2-3 weak ground balls to the left side of the infield that rolled right through with out the Sox even getting a glove on them. You can all have your scape goat if it makes you feel better at night, but the bases were loaded with 1 out and the Sox couldnt even score 1 run. Since when is giving up 6 runs impossible to come back from? This team is not going to get far if the pitchers have to keep the other team to 4 runs or less, the Sox are not built that way. From what I remember, you are a lawyer. You definitely seem like a defense attorney. I hope you're better at defending your clients than you are at defending Vazquez. Nobody's buying it. -
I like the Fall, and you can all just kiss my ass.

And who was with JimH? Why it was Juggernaut, Jabroni, and Redandwhite. As they yelled for the others to stop, everyone ignored them.

It's to the point where I think even his own teammates hate Vazquez. I wouldn't be surprised if his own family, his children, disliked him. I wish nothing but horrible things for that man. -

Uribe swinging for the fences. I hope we don't resort to that for the remainder of this game. -

QUOTE (RME JICO @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:50 PM) I just don't understand how a guy can go from unhittable to a batting practice pitcher from hitter to hitter like Vazquez. That kills me about him. How can you strikeout 200 batters and have an ERA close to 5.00? There is only 1 other pitcher (Burnett) in the bigs with +200 Ks and an ERA over 3.50. Because he is a loser, plain and simple.
