Yankees to chase AJ Burnett
QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 12:24 PM) Agreed... he's not a first ballot, but he'll get in. You also have to consider that he is a very well-liked player and that he was a part of the historic Yankees. I think he's definitely going to get in when you consider those things, plus his numbers.

Yankees to chase AJ Burnett
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 12:48 PM) I dont know about Mussina, i tend to think he just misses. The way I look at it, is if I were to think about the past 15 years and was asked to name the game's best pitchers, would Mussina come out of my mouth? I dont think it would. As someone said earlier, it's the hall of fame, not the hall of very good And as I said, no, it really isn't.

Yankees to chase AJ Burnett
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 11:58 AM) No Cy Young awards, not getting to 300 wins despite playing for the team spending by far the most money to build a dominant offense over the last decade, only 1 20 win season (this year) on his resume. I think he still misses. It's the hall of fame, not the hall of very good. In name only. It's definitely the hall of very good, judging by a lot of its members. He can definitely get in.

Yankees to chase AJ Burnett
QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 10:02 PM) I think he'd probabaly have to stick around for a while to get to that mark. A 20 win season is a nice way to go out though. He needs 30 more. On the Yankees, that's definitely attainable in two years.

Fall of '08 television season thread
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 11:32 PM) So I recently got into that show, its fantastic. i missed a bunch of episodes though, and cant find them online to watch. Anybody have suggestions? I usually use hulu.com, or the show website, but they only have eps 1,2, and skips to 8-current. To tonight's show, wow. Why couldnt Jax realize that Clay was up to something? He shouldve seen right through him and confronted him. AHHHHH...I love shows like this, but cant watch them that much because I always want them to see the other side that you can see, but they dont know. Its frustrating.

Yankees to chase AJ Burnett
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 05:08 PM) A spot just opened up for Burnett. Mike Mussina has decided to retire. I thought he would stick around and try for 300. I wanted him to do so, also.

The Video Rental Thread
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 12:54 AM) Haha, that's awesome. Looks nice from the frontal view available on wikipedia. Although I'm guessing those are for the $1925/month "Capotes." Your ass is probably in one of those "Austen Lofts" I had to look up the floor plan to see which one you were talking about. Ha, our place is bigger than those ones.

Value Menu Items
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 12:17 PM) Vegan actually. I respect your devotion, but also think you're insane. I couldn't live without meat. If I absolutely had to do it, I'd have to eat a lot of meaty vegetables, such as eggplant.

The Video Rental Thread
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 11:59 PM) I've thought about this many times. I'm 23 and grew up through the transition from mom-and-pop video stores to a monopoly of Hollywood Video/Blockbuster/Netflix. Before my family moved to Palos we lived off 63rd and Lawndale in Chicago. Within half a mile of where we lived there were six family owned video stores. One of my earliest memories is riding with my brother to every single video store looking for Super Mario Brothers 3 on NES, and when we found one, kept it for a good two months because we continued renting it over and over. Of course, none are around today. And two of the video stores were typical of past businesses in Chicago where someone lived above the actual store. Definitely won't find those around here, anymore. To address the actual thread, I recommend everyone here rent "Once Were Warriors" if it's available at your store. It's the best movie you've never seen. Another is "Session 9" if you're into horror movies. Most video stores should have this title. I actually live in the apartment complex that was built there.

Current Roster-2009 Potential Career Milestones
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 05:57 PM) Right... the half the time that it's grammatically correct! There are two scenarios. In one, it goes outside. In the other, it goes inside.

Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE (juddling @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 10:22 AM) Did anyone else catch the new Jeff Dunham special on Comedy Central Sunday night and when it was over think "Man....was that it?????" For an hour long show they had WAY too many commercial breaks and while I thought that Akmed the Dead Terrorist was his best of the night. Peanut.....his bread and butter.....i thought was way too short and wasn't really all that funny (though he did have a moment of two.) After waiting a long time for a new JD special....i felt a bit let down. Then again...maybe it was just me. I watched while I did some laundry and stuff, so I didn't really pay that much attention to the time length. I just have to say that José Jalapeño on a Stick is his best character.

The Video Rental Thread
I often pretty much do the same thing with On Demand. I'll flip through all of the listings, and I'll usually just pick movies that fall into two categories. 1.) Movies that were way before my time that are known to be among the best (Spartacus, etc.) 2.) Movies that I remember seeing previews for, and might've seen in theatres, but missed for some reason (most recently, In Bruges and The Condemned).

Why even shop the best player since 2005
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 04:42 AM) Thome and Dye have also been better than Jenks since 2005. Thome's put up an OPS near .950 in a Sox uniform and has hit 111 homers in 3 years. Dye's put up an OPS near .885 in 4 years and has hit 137 homers. I'd find it hard for a guy who throws 60-80 innings a year to be more valuable than that, especially considering how mediocre he was in 2006. Ah, but he didn't exactly say that. Sorry, I just wanted to see what if felt like to play devil's advocate. Texsox has been hogging that recently .

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 16, 2008 -> 03:39 PM) I want someone with some fire, a blue-collar guy like, DA Coach. Give me Cowher, Spagnuolo or Grimm. Talk about overrated. Buddy Ryan won the Superbowl. Ditka received all of the credit.
