*Official* Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Couture UFC Title Thread
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Nov 16, 2008 -> 02:09 AM) Lesnar was just too strong. Plain and simple. Overall, a fun card to watch. Going into it I thought at least 3 of these fights would go to a decision and none did. p.s. Jeremy Stephens had the KO of the year tonight. That was great. That was a movie KO. If Couture could've just avoided the KO and taken the fight into the 3rd or 4th, he would've won it. Lesnar won it straight-up, though. It was a nice fight.

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 11:27 PM) Is it still in any imax theaters in Chicago? I'm too lazy to check... I luved The Poseidon Adventure as a kid and have it on DVD... Anyways, I watched forgetting sarah marshall this week. I did not laugh. Maybe one or two forced chuckles when the other people I was watching it with laughed... And I saw Iron Man. Robert Downey Jr's character, I forget his name and comic book buffs may chastise me, was a little too calm and cocky for me liking. It was ok, but obviously nowhere near The Dark Knight. I also took my little brother to see Madagascar 2. It was alright. The last time I took him to the movies was for Wall-E, so it might be a while for me to thoroughly enjoy a kids movie like that... I agree, the original Poseidon Adventure was awesome and Sarah Marshall was way overblown. But, I liked Iron Man more than TDK.

Did they just refer to the Florian match as the main event? I swear I heard that. I hope neither Lesnar nor Couture had to pull out of the match. EDIT: Oh, they now said "co-main event." Whatever the f*** that is.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 09:26 PM) Here's the trailer. Interesting choice of music. It must be one hell of a disaster to cause 15,000+ ft waves, enough to compeltely cover mountains in what I'm guessing is Tibet. I guess the music is the same from the trailer for The Shining.

Quantum Of Solace was enjoyable. I'm not a Bond fan, but the movie kept me interested throughout. What's more interesting to me were some of the previews. There's a movie coming out called 2012, which is about the end of the world theory. It'll probably be the same as every other movie in that genre, but they always interest me. And I really want to see Valkyrie. That's the one about the assassination plot against Hitler by German army officers. Those two previews caused me to do a considerable amount of Wikipedia research.

Swish Traded to the Yankees
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 01:07 PM) Missed the "sports" part. Yeah I wouldn't say that, but in baseball? He could be. Just off the top of my head, Gillick is the one who made the Floyd deal. Kenny hasn't had a blunder like that yet. Jocketty is possible. Stoneman? What about that GMJ contract? That was one of the worst FA deals over the last 3-4 years, possibly more. A career 4th OF coming off a steriod-aided career year in the best hitting park in baseball, and he gets that kind of security? Everybody knew that was a horrible deal. The only recent deals off the top of my head that I can think of that were as bad or worse are Pierre, Alfonso Soriano, and Barry Zito. Kenny has always been pretty smart with Jerry's money. His biggest screw-up was probably Contreras, but Contreras pitched well in '06 and the first half of '08, and could come back mid-season '09. Then his deal is up. Plus if he's healthy it's a below-market contract. Edit: Jason Schmidt's contract was another one. Still, GMJ's deal is right up there near the top. Billy Beane is pretty darn good for running a small market team. I'd put him up there as well. Agreed completely with the bold part. I was also going to include Beane, but I didn't feel like dealing with the hundreds of posters who just simply hate the man. Like I said, it was all off the top of my head. I'd probably say KW is in or near the top three in baseball, but definitely not sports.

Swish Traded to the Yankees
QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 12:44 PM) Who would you say is far and away better than him then? In baseball alone, I'd have to say Epstein (as much as I hate to admit it), Gillick, and Schuerholz. I guess Schuerholz no longer counts, but then arguments can easily be made for Jocketty and Stoneman. That's just off the top of my head, and that's just in baseball. To say he's a top 3 GM in sports is quite a stretch and very Hawk Harrelson-esque.

Swish Traded to the Yankees
QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 10:23 AM) In my baseball world I trust KW with any moves he makes.Hell, I hated the Swisher trade when we brought him but I still trusted that KW judgement was better than mine.Even though that didnt work out KW IMO is in the top 3 of GM's in all of sports so I expect that one maybe two of these guys he brought over from the Yanks are going to produce well for us and make us forget about Swish,Sweeney,Gio,DLS and that whole situation. No way. I like him and all, but no way.

If they trade Vazquez, they'll be rid of two of my least favorite White Sox players ever in one offseason.
