Vazquez & Logan Dealt to Braves
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 06:12 PM) Right-handed pitcher Javier Vazquez has been told he's headed from the Chicago White Sox to the Atlanta Braves in a deal which is likely to be finalized on Wednesday. Vazquez is flying to Atlanta on Wednesday morning for a physical. A baseball source told ESPN's Peter Gammons that the deal will include four other players, including reliever Boone Logan, who would also go from the White Sox to the Braves. Among the players expected to go from Atlanta to the Chicago organization are Jo-Jo Reyes, Brett Lillibridge and another top prospect. Vazquez, 32, was 12-16 last season for the White Sox with a 4.67 ERA in 33 starts. He struck out 200 batters in 208 1/3 innings. Logan, a left-handed reliever, was 4-4 with a 5.70 ERA out of the White Sox bullpen last year. He had a 2-3 record in 55 appearances. Reyes was 3-11 with a 5.81 ERA last season for the Braves. He started 22 games. Lillibridge appeared in 90 games at Triple-A Richmond in the Braves organization. He hit .220 with four home runs and 39 RBIs. Was he hurt? That sounds terrible. Also, this is a good deal for both Vazquez and Logan. It never hurts to pitch for the Braves. Vazquez is now back in the NL and much, much closer to Puerto Rico.

Vazquez & Logan Dealt to Braves
QUOTE (BearSox @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 06:10 PM) If we got Mike Gonzalez, or even Rafael Soriano, as part of the deal, I'd be a happy man. I'd prefer Gonzalez, but he's a bigger injury risk. Also, if we got Gonzalez, that could/would make Jenks more expandable. He doesn't have much more room for expansion! Ha, I'm a few pages behind and hope I'm not late on this joke.

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 03:42 PM) That's been around awhile. It's kind of sad when millionaires have nothing better to do than get arrested. Yes, someone even had it as their avatar for a while. It might've been REM JICO.

Question for Ozzy/Black Sabbath fans
I'm not sure of your ages, but were either of you fans from the very beginning? I'm trying to put myself into the shoes of someone who has been following a band since its origin, and then sees something like this happen. I can only speculate, as I haven't followed any band or singer for that long, and none of the bands or singers I've liked for a while have sold out yet.

Question for Ozzy/Black Sabbath fans
Can a mod chance it to "Ozzy" in the title? EDIT: Wow, did it before I even asked. Thanks to whomever that was.

Question for Ozzy/Black Sabbath fans
This is mostly pointed towards posters who have been fans since the heyday of Ozzy and Black Sabbath. How does it make you feel to see Ozzy become such a huge whore in the past decade? I love Black Sabbath and the non-recent Ozzy stuff, and it gives me a pretty clear feeling of disappointment to see what Ozzy has become. I have one uncle in particular who was an enormous fan growing up, and I can only imagine how he feels on the subject. So, before I can actually ask him, I'd like to hear what you people have to say. EDIT: I just realized I spelled his name throughout the thread. OG on the brain.

Sox apparently not planning moves in Japanese FA mkt
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 01:50 PM) What would these players have to do with Fukudome? All Japanese players will be dissapointments now? The "whoa is me" KW is back with $.75, and everything costs $1.00. There is no reason to comment if you don't have the budget for it. If they are so broke, how in the hell were they going to pay for Hunter or Fukudome last season? Woe, Nelly.

Sox apparently not planning moves in Japanese FA mkt
QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 01:47 PM) I agree. It is probably KW's way of sending the message that the Japanese players are asking too much money. Agreed, and it looks like we've found ourselves a nice little market in Cuba. Everyone is looking in Japan right now, but I think we have a clear advantage for any player coming out of Cuba. And IMO, I'd take a Cuban player any day of the week over a Japanese player. They are both fundamentally sound for the most part, but Cubans seem much less hit-or-miss and also seem to have more staying power (and power in general). I think people are coming late to the party when it comes to signing Japanese players. People see the Dice-K's and Ichiro's, but there are a lot of crap players coming out of Japan that get nice contracts due to the minority of quality MLB players coming from that area. What I'm saying is basically that I would rather focus on Cuba (and the Americas as a whole) because I believe the talent to be much, much greater.

Miss England told that she's too fat
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 01:50 PM) That's sort of circular, though, isn't it? It is about feeling beautiful, pretty, wanted, desired, etc. And thanks to the advertising trends, they're repeatedly told that, in order to be those things, they need to be a size zero. Could just be natural body build. Myself, my younger brother and my grandfather are all 6'2" to 6'4" and we all weigh under 170 (at least my grandpa did when he was younger, has a whiskey gut now). I eat 2-3000 calories a day and don't exercise as much as I should (read: I'm lazy and don't burn a lot of calories), but I can't put on weight without consuming a massive amount of calories and lifting daily. My favorite meal is probably a 1/2# bacon cheeseburger with some ice cream for desert. My body fat percentage is just naturally really, really low. Well, there is your problem, my friend. If you're eating as few as two calories some days, you'll probably remain as skinny as you are. Now, back to your regularly scheduled serious discussions.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 12:15 PM) Now THIS is a woman! In the picture you posted, I'd do her. The one in the article...eh, not so much. Then again, one of my goals in life is to nail an attractive chunky girl.

What kind of person are you?
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 01:09 PM) thats pretty much the most badass thing i've ever heard. Agreed, but only equally as awesome as: QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 12:58 PM) I bring a cape with me wherever I go.

2009 Hall of Fame Ballot
QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 11:28 AM) Well, it's not the Hall of Greatness, it's the Hall of Fame. So only the most famous players should get in, obviously. That makes Swisher a shoo-in.

QUOTE (mreye @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 10:15 AM) I have three kids, so dirty shoes on our carpert might be an improvement. I only encourage people to remove them if they just came in out of the snow or something. I always take mine off at others' houses, but I take my slippers with me. You carry slippers around with you?

2009 Hall of Fame Ballot
I can't ever remember watching Harold Baines and thinking "this guy belongs in the Hall of Fame." Based on that, I wouldn't vote for him. Thome will get in, as I fully expect him to hit 600 home runs.

Black Friday Hot Deal Thread
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 08:48 AM) Yeah it does. Although it should be noted that the deal is a factory refurbished device I'm not sure what that means. I didn't buy one anyway, as the internet directions always work fine for me.

CONGRATULATIONS Mr. and Mrs. Quentin!
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 08:44 AM) It might be funny if it was once, but it sure doesn't get funnier the more times you repeat it. As a matter of a fact, it only contributes to the overall blah on the board. I've mentioned it in two threads, I believe. Thank you for being straight forward about it and not taking a veiled jab at me, though.

2009 Hall of Fame Ballot
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 08:34 AM) Bert Blyleven Rickey Henderson Mark McGwire Tim Raines Lee Smith This would be my HOF list. The closers haven't gotten enough attention or respect IMO. McGwire is a tough one, but I think without knowing who was using and who was not, you almost have to ignore that. Then again, tomorrow I will probably feel the opposite... Its a tough one. I do believe Blyleven should be in, and Rickey and Rock should be in as well. Henderson deserves 95% of the vote, at least. I thought I was reading Sanskrit at first.

Sometimes its watches, sometimes tvs, sometimes laptop items, sometimes little tools. Its never the same thing That place has a pretty sweet deal for a Garmin right now.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 1, 2008 -> 08:12 PM) Must you whine in every single thread on the board? You're bored and have nothing better to do than sit and wait on Soxtalk. We get it. Thanks. Well, I thought I was being funny. Oh, and can I take a personal jab at you now? Or will I then be suspended?

Official Squared Circle Thread
QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 1, 2008 -> 06:55 PM) http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/2008_/1228151324.php -- Randy Orton has been telling friends that WWE offered him a 10-year contract, reports ProWrestling.net. Although there is still no word on whether Orton will agree to the deal, it says a lot about their faith in the young superstar. WWE is also trying to sign Rey Mysterio to a five-year deal. What the hell else is he going to do? TNA won't be around in 10 years.
