LET'S MAKE A LIST PART V - Holiday Edition
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 1, 2008 -> 05:55 PM) You're not American. If that isn't #1, i'm rioting. Agreed. It's like Forrest Gump. I could watch it again as soon as it ends. Thankfully they do just that.

Razors
Works extremely well, hardly ever cuts me, and is useful when trimming around the beard. I recommend it.

Sox sign Dayan Viciedo
QUOTE (Felix @ Dec 1, 2008 -> 11:50 AM) Just start arguing about Willy Taveras.. it makes things exponentially more hilarious and entertaining. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 1, 2008 -> 08:20 AM) With contributions like that I can't see why I just can't stand all of the idle discussion. It seems like there's about 10 rumors, with just one source for each one. It takes me about two minutes to read all of the discussion that interests me in Pale Hose Talk.

2009 Hall of Fame Ballot
That's a pretty good class, and I really don't even want to venture a guess as to who will get in. I really do hope that Blyleven and John make it soon.

Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 1, 2008 -> 09:50 AM) I noticed if I keep eating Halls all day it makes it 10X worse.Drink more reeeeally hot tea and just eat a few Halls a day and you will be better off. Also a good remedy is boil 8 ounces of water, squeeze 1 lemon, and a teaspoon of honey. Hm, that all sounds really gay.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 1, 2008 -> 12:38 PM) I actually find that #1 Chloraseptic Sore Throat Spray takes care of coughs quickly. The taste isn't that great initially, but it numbs the area of your throat that tickles and keeps you coughless for an hour at a time. It's cheap and over the counter. I actually had a sore throat over the weekend and used that stuff. I agree, it works wonders, but tastes terrible. I'll probably use some of that again for the cough.

50th anniversary of tragic fire at elemetary school
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Dec 1, 2008 -> 10:16 AM) There was a story on the trib website about the drummer from the band Journey, who was also a survivor of the fire I just looked that up, and it was their keyboardist, Jonathan Cain.

Black Friday Hot Deal Thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 1, 2008 -> 10:45 AM) I had a really good black Friday. It was nice to already have my hd tv's so I didn't have to be a 5am minion or whatever. This seemed like the super cheap HDTV black friday, as every other vehicle was a truck with a tv box in the back of it. I don't know what made me laugh, but it just reminded me of hunters with deer on their hoods, but this time it was a f***in' tv. Anyway, I pulled off some good deals. One nice thing about having to go to Rockford for the holidays (ok the only nice thing), is that black friday shopping is really convenient and easy. I got all my holiday shopping done, picked up a Wii and all the accessories and s***, and never felt rushed. We left right after the first mad rush in the morning (about 9am, so all the psychos were going to deposit their first haul in the home and to grab breakfast)... so it never felt crazy or anything. The parking lots were packed, but aside from that, it was no big deal. We even got a table in the food court! I had a pretty great experience. I live about two miles from a Circuit City. I saw their deal on TV's on Thanksgiving, but decided I didn't want to be part of that huge rush. I slept until about 11:30 a.m., and decided I'd just take a drive down there to see what they had left, if anything. Well, the deal was supposed to be for six hours, which would've had it end at 11:00 a.m. I knew this wasn't a well-known location, so I figured I'd have a chance. I walk in the door, and there's still an entire display of these TV's. I ask the guy if the deal is still in effect, and he said it will be until the sets are all gone and that they expected to be sold out long before. So, long story short, I was back at my apartment in half an hour with a brand new HD LCD TV.

Tipping
QUOTE (Shadows @ Dec 1, 2008 -> 04:21 AM) Are bars even like that anymore? I go out drinking a lot, and I have never had to wait 20 mins to get a beer.. Usually we have a waitress, and even when I do walk up to the bar it takes max 2 minutes.. And for the record, I have never seen ANYONE get a free round or free shots for tipping.. I think the long waits are at extremely popular places. I envision something like a dance club with s***ty techno music blaring. And in regards to getting free rounds, that happens a lot in smaller bars.

I have an annoying cough that just will not go away or even seem to get better. I keep using Halls, but it seems like every minute or so I get a type of dryness at the back of my throat and have to cough.

"Bargain" Free Agents....
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 30, 2008 -> 09:05 PM) Milkman, he has made MANY worse moves than that, and has never been close to getting fired. Please save the hyperbole. When Paul Konerko was acquired, the concern throughout baseball was about his "degenerative hip condition," which is why the Dodgers were willing to part with him, as well as the Reds. Hasn't that turned out pretty well for the White Sox? Baldelli might turn out okay, just like Jon Lester did. I know, different medical situations/conditions. Second, any Baldelli signing would be for lower numbers than Uribe would make and would include lots of incentives. Low risk deal, high possible reward. He cannot be a starter, plain and simple. To be a starter, I'm guessing you have to start over 50% of the games, and he cannot do so.

"Bargain" Free Agents....
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 30, 2008 -> 08:33 PM) Cuban, I really don't see us going "bargain" with the possible exception of the 5th starter's spot. I doubt it will be Randy Johnson, FWIW. As far as OF, Baldelli and Edmonds are the only CFers on that list. Is it possible KW goes after either one OVER Anderson and Owens? I'm sure it's at least a 25% chance that he would go after one or the other, especially Baldelli. KW would be fired if he acquired either of those two to start.

Ryan Wing going to Japan
QUOTE (scenario @ Nov 29, 2008 -> 12:02 PM) LOL. Well... if there's one thing I've learned in the past 10 years it's that there are quite a few Sox fans who seem to believe... "We SUCK until proven otherwise. And then we STILL suck... we were just lucky." Sometimes I think we make Philly fans look like flaming optimists. I just tried to think of the last White Sox prospect that became anything more than adequate in the majors on any team. It's hard to come up with many.

Plaxico Burress accidentally shoots himself in the leg
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Nov 29, 2008 -> 11:46 AM) This is hilarious and sad at the same time. Why are you carrying a loaded gun Plax? It amazes me how stupid multimillion dollar athletes are. Just don't carry a gun, wow, is that so hard. We have to stop expecting them to be more intelligent. In most of these cases, these are guys who have always been incredibly athletic and talented, and likely were given passes throughout their time in school because of it. They're not smart because there is no need for them to be. This is where we get all of the Pacmans.
