  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 08:49 PM) They said on the radio today that he told KW he wanted to play RF, and not CF. KW said he would have to play CF, and Griffey agreed to it then. Wow. EDIT: I truly believe the Sox do not believe they can/will win a game this series, and aren't even fully trying.
  2. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 08:35 PM) Blame ozzie, not griffey, period. It's like getting mad at mackowiak before - not his fault he was put out there when he's not a cf. Griff only plays where and when ozzie says, if he was used properly, no one would hate him. Wasn't it said that Griffey only waived his NTC because he was guaranteed CF?
  3. QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 08:30 PM) To hell with Twins-ball! Wait is this for venting about OUR team? It's all-encompassing. Does anyone believe Griffey helps this team in any way?
  4. QUOTE (almagest @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 08:27 PM) You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Seriously. Just stop. I'm not sure the Twins will win out the rest of the year, but I can easily see them sweeping the Sox. This team has a history of choking to the Twins down the stretch.
  5. I wouldn't pull Javy. I'd leave him out there to die. This game is over, and he deserves every second of the embarrassment.
  6. I would like to say that it would make me incredibly happy for Javier Vazquez to never pitch another game in MLB (not just for the Sox, but for any team).
  7. QUOTE (That funky motion @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) F this team!!!! Well, I meant it to vent at specific players that are dogs, but it is a vent thread.
  8. To hell with Javier Vazquez and Griffey. Vazquez, you do not have balls. Griffey, you have nothing to offer to a professional baseball team.
  9. Motherf***er, this game is on WCIU. Now I can't watch this game at all.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 03:56 PM) Nice. You're a big loser like me now. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 04:07 PM) I wonder what other sites can say that they have nearly 40 members with 10,000 posts. I have to be honest. For like the last month (ever since I noticed I was around 9,500 posts), I was posting much more often for the sake of posting.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 02:01 PM) Javy has been questioned before he came to the White Sox, however the facts are : 2006 White Sox win 90, Javy below .500 2007 White Sox lose 90, Javy 15-8 2008 White Sox contending all year should win 90+, Javy below .500 Bad month in NY? July ERA 6.61, August ERA 7.44. September ERA 6.29. He was so brutal the second half of his season with the Yankees and then in the playoffs, he was sent packing and the Yankees thought he was injured. So, for 2 years he's played with good teams in Chicago, his winning pct. is below that of his career. He played for a good team in NY and didn't get the job done. Maybe he can change some minds tonight, because pitchers making 8 figures a year should do well in big situations, not just when your playing out the string. I don't believe it. Statistics can be twisted to support anything.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 02:14 PM) That is immaterial. My point is, how often has Kenny Williams really thought about what the fans think? He tells us EXACTLY how he sees things. This is the same guy who mocked the Miguel Cabrera trade as maybe catching the Tigers up with us, traded fan favorite Aaron Rowand, told Frank Thomas to hit the road, and told Toronto to suck it after they found out Mike Sirotka was hurt. If Kenny had really wanted his son drafted, and had told the scouts to do it, he would have NO problems standing in front of us telling us exactly why he did it, and not giving a s*** what any of us think. And I don't believe for a second that he didn't have a hand in the drafting of his son. It's a matter of opinion.
  13. I fully expect there to be a packed house tonight.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 01:05 PM) No but it isn't hard to envision him saying that he authorized the drafting of his son because he feels like he is going to help the ballclub in the future. He takes blame almost everytime something goes wrong, I have no problem thinking he would do it here as well. That would be an obvious crock of s***, though. I don't think any fan would actually buy that as his real reason for drafting his own son.
  15. I stopped watching after a minute. It really wasn't funny up to that point.
  16. QUOTE (BearSox @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 10:53 PM) He said he doesn't care what the fans think. Did he ever say he doesn't care about baseball and just goes through the motions every fifth day? Javy works about as hard as anyone on the team, and wants to win more then anyone else on the team. He's a true competitor, and gives it his all every start. To say he is a "paycheck-casher" and an "ungrateful idiot" is by far one of the stupidest and false statements I've seen on here. Do you have any proof of that at all?
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 09:30 AM) If something is true, doesn't that make it a fact? I think it was a joke.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 10:54 AM) To cut out the Always Sunny talk... This week's SNL, starring James Franco, was absolutely hilarious from start to finish. It really showed me that SNL might be back (as long as untalented sports stars not named Peyton Manning aren't hosting)... That entire episode had me crying. So, you are saying that Manning is funny, right? I sometimes get confused with double negatives, ha.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 10:17 AM) Because Kenny has a problem with doing something not popular? That doesn't sound like him at all. I don't think even KW would basically say, "I drafted my talentless son way earlier than I should have, thus missing out on much more talented players...but I don't give a s***."
  20. QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 12:59 PM) If you scatterplot Vazquez's ERA against the winning percentages of the teams he has been on since 2000, you will see that Javy is more comfortable on losing teams, period. I suggest that we grant him his wish and send him to a losing team for next year. (How about Javy +$10 million for John Lannan) I've been saying this forever.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 02:54 PM) I'm not going to lie, that post was one of the funniest one's I've seen all year. I really thought it was funny, too.
  22. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 03:23 PM) I have been living in Ann Arbor for the past 5 years or so, and currently am at U of Illinois U-C, and my parents are now moving back to Chicago for my dad's job. So tehy had the moving company pack the truck and drive it down to Chicago just this past weekend, and was scheduled to unload it on Thursday. So they store the truck in their storage area. Last night someone broke into the area, broke through the side doors of the truck, and its unclear whether they stole anything from the truck or not (I believe they did but have no idea) and burned the rest down. By the time the firemen arrived and put out the truck everything was ruined by a combination of smoke, fire, and water. So now im jsut shocked that everything that I didnt pack for college is gone. Including my White Sox World Series jacket!!! I hate Mondays... Who has a story topper? *The worst part is that Im not even that upset about most of the stuff I lost, like I wont miss alot, but I will miss all of hte stuff I had from being a little kid and everything. Meanwhile, all I can think of is relating this to the Scrubs episode where Elliot had her truck stolen... You sure your parents didn't set it up for the insurance money? Sounds awfully fishy.
