  1. QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 10:55 PM) I'm impressed by a fair amount of stuff, but it's a lot less interesting to throw out the  than it is to complain and/or mock things. There's not too much in rasslin' lately that blows me away these days, though. Definitely in a "down cycle" IMO. I know you're a fan of old-school wrestling, being an old man and all. I consider myself a fan of the older stuff as well, but my "old-school" is the late 80's and early 90's. I have to admit, as much as I hate most current wrestling, that almost all of the main eventers now are solid technical wrestlers. The same can't be said of the Ultimate Warriors and Hogans of my era. Also, I'd rather Flair just completely retire from wrestling. I think that'd be a better ending for his career than managing. EDIT: Where the hell is LCR?! He usually shares my point of view on most things wrestling.
  2. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 10:16 PM) In a perfect world, Orton would walk out of the Citrus Bowl as champion. Neither HHH or Cena needs the the title to be over. I know a lot of people don't like Orton, Shadows and I are supporters, but it would make WrestleMania if he was to retain. Nobody would be expecting it and it seems like Orton needs the title for the WWE to do anything with him. I've also always been a fan of heel champions. Title changes at Mania should mean something. It isn't the first reign for either HHH or Cena. The only thing that would make it special is if Orton retained. I have NEVER been an HHH fan. I never thought he was anymore than average in the ring and he isn't particularly entertaining on the mic, especially as a face. "Oh, how funny. He made an inside joke that only internet marks would get it. He so funny." He has had decent matches with guys who are very good. He has never had to carry anyone to a good match. I am intrigued as to how Show/Mayweather will go. The build up for HBK/Flair has been good, especially this past week. If Flair loses, I still hope for a heel manager role with Orton. It would make WM if Flair won, and then announced his retirement instead of losing. I do agree with you, however, that Orton should come out of WM as the champion. He's grown on me. He's not one of my favorite wrestlers, but I can certainly stand him as champion and would like to see him remain so for a little while longer. And on HHH, as much as I dislike him, he's a solid technical wrestler, in my book.
  3. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 07:20 PM) Weren't we last year? Well, then we'll be starting a dynasty of disappointment.
  4. QUOTE(Wanne @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 08:46 PM) ^^^^^^ What Rock said. Geez-us...that was a complete waste of bandwidth. I understand having an article...but how many friggin pages? Sometimes I wish they'd just win it to shut all these scribes up....NAAAAAAH! Nevermind. They're making the Cubs look more pathetic and having a good laugh at it. I sure as s*** don't want the Cubs to win the World Series because of that.
  5. QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 07:36 PM) New Heyman column from the UK Sun: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...ticle974227.ece I disagree with him on one major point (and I know you can see it coming) - I think Mayweather, at least in the wrestling realm, is boring as all hell. He can't ad-lib worth half a damn, he's not convincing in anything he says, and he sounds meek even when boasting. I haven't heard him do any "promos" in the boxing world, but he hasn't impressed me in any way, shape or form during the Mania buildup. I agree with Heyman 100% about Show - he seems by all accounts to be a nice guy, and I'm almost always interested in angles he's involved in (the "Big Bossman dragging Show's dead Dad's casket arounf" angle notwithstanding, that was awful). Nothing impresses you, Critic. And I agree, Show's one of my favorites.
  6. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 06:24 PM) Who knew that it would cost us that much for mediocrity. Yeah, if we put up a record similar to last season, we'd have to be one of the most disappointing teams in the modern era.
  7. Not that any of you would have, but don't see Funny Games. You probably haven't even heard of it, but it stars Tim Roth and Naomi Watts. It is, without a doubt, the worst movie I have ever seen in a theater. It almost seemed like the movie was daring me to walk out of it, which I did with only about 5 minutes left. I couldn't even stand to watch those few final minutes of absolute f***ing s***. I just had to vent.
  8. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 12:40 AM) Only everyone in the movie industry disagrees with you. I never thought I'd see these two movies in the same statement. Unless you're saying "Good Luck Chuck is the polar opposite of American Gangster." See, I like Dane Cook in supporting roles. He was enjoyable in Dan In Real Life (probably because he got screwed in the movie) and Mr. Brooks (probably because ).
  9. So, I watched Smackdown! for the first time in probably over a year. I have to say that I can now enjoy Mark Henry. I believe in wrestlers having roles (some being the monster type, even if they don't have much wrestling ability). I think it mostly has to do with his entrance music, though.
  10. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 09:26 AM) I got it on Tuesday, but haven't opened it. Is there really another version of the WHOLE movie? Or just the alternate ending? I had no problem with the theatrical ending. I never read the book so I had nothing to compare it to either. I read the synopsis of the book, and it was undoubtedly better than the movie. Besides straying from an incredible idea for a movie, I Am Legend was destroyed by s***ty-looking CGI. It could've been so much more. And SS2k5, I can't believe that about Good Luck Chuck. I just can't believe a movie starring Dane Cook could not suck.
  11. The system restore didn't solve the problem. I also downloaded the newest version of Windows Media Player in case it would install a part that was missing. That also didn't help. Not sure what else to do.
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 09:51 PM) It might. You might have to redelete a few things. I'll give it a shot. It wouldn't take too long to delete stuff again.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 09:45 PM) Is it possible that you have a system restore point that survives from that time? You can find the system restore option under system tools/accessories in your start menu. Will that also put back all of the useless crap that I deleted?
  14. About two weeks ago, I went to the Add/Remove Programs application and deleted a few things that seemed to be useless. Unfortunately, I think I deleted something that affected the sound on my computer. My speakers no longer play any sound, and I also can't hear sound when I plug headphones directly into the computer tower. When I play a song on itunes, the song moves along but I hear nothing, and videos play in Windows Media Player, but again there's no sound. Anybody know what I might've deleted, and how to fix it?
  15. QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 18, 2008 -> 02:09 AM) I'm glad that the Herbert Perry sig got me on that list. I hate throwing up. If a list existed back then, you'd have been on it. The Milkman sig, which was awesome, had very little to with it. The Milkman sig was awesome, though.
  16. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 18, 2008 -> 01:09 AM) God is mad at me. Know how I know? I have a temp ranging anywhere from 101.5-103 (and it was 104 when I woke up today) on the universal day for drinking. Needless to say, I didn't drink today with a fever that high, nausea, body aches, cold sweats, chills, headache, congestion in both my nose and my chest, and fatigue. All I wanted was one green beer. I don't know if it would have stayed down though. God and I are tight. This is your punishment for getting on my bad side last night. P.S. - This is the sequel to last night for me.
  17. QUOTE(SnB @ Mar 17, 2008 -> 11:12 AM) wtf is wrong with you Are you asking to be removed from the list?
  18. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 17, 2008 -> 12:45 AM) this does not make you an internet geek, it makes you a complete liar because everyone and their mother knows that you can't type when drunk and this whole "everybody getting drunk thing"...yeah, it's fun Don't doubt me, wite. I don't know if I could take it if you doubted me. The only people I respect on this site more than you are kyyle, SSI71, fathom, Dick Allen, J4L, Heads, Rowand44, SnB, SS2k5, Texsox, YASNY, shipps, Jimbo's Drinker, Gregory Pratt, REM JICO, Soxy, Kapkomet, Balta1701, Flash Tizzle, knightni, and Brian. I don't think I could take it if you didn't believe me.
  19. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 17, 2008 -> 12:35 AM) Yeah, but my opinion of you has been negatively affected, so you should still feel some amount of shame. I post on an internet baseball message board, I have no shame. I just can't help but feel that the people who post while drunk are embellishing. But, alcohol affects different people in different ways, so who knows. Also, in regards to the post by russ, your girlfriend's sister is a whore. It's pretty clear to see. Let her screw up because it's the only way she'll learn.
  20. I have now had fifteen Budweisers, and I can type coherently. I drank tonight for two reasons. I have Monday (St. Patrick's Day off), and I also wanted to post on Soxtalk to show that it is indeed possible to type while being quite drunk. I understand that this makes me both a drunk and an internet geek, but I'm fine with that.
  21. Yeah, my friend told me about Hardy's house. At first, I thought maybe this was the reason he no-showed. But, nope.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 14, 2008 -> 09:42 AM) I don't think ANY Japanese players have come close to their totals during their first year in the US. I would bet Swisher HARD. I just wanted to note that I was going to make a joke off of this post because of the use of the word "HARD," but then I decided against it because it probably would've sounded racist and gotten me suspended. It would've been funny, though.
  23. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 11:16 PM) Yeah, was it because of Javy's strong outing? That would be silly since it is only March 12th. Well, I hope whatever reason there is for this does not have to do with Buehrle being hurt. I'd rather be pissed at Ozzie for possibly favoring Vazquez (just a random reason) than have to deal with an injured MB.
