  1. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) that will come over time. He has more wins than Maddux does at the same points in their career. We might be seeing something very special with Buehrle if he keeps up this pace. Before this year started, I estimated how many wins Buehrle can get if he pitches until he's 40 with the same kind of success he's had so far. In the end, it came out to 328 career wins. I doubt he'll get there (especially if he can't beat playoff teams, ha), but it's a nice goal.
  2. See, I don't understand how Uribe could be hard-headed about changing his swing if he changed it so quickly after talking to Hriniak. Did Hriniak give him a Snickers to try it? I think it's pretty clear that Walker should be s***canned when this season ends.
  3. Wow, the chances that the Sox would win on a homer by Crede when all of these Crede avatars is just amazing. That's a great win.
  4. I don't know whether the meaning of this thread is that KW should be fired, or that KW will be fired, so I'm just going to say it this way. KW put together a good team and was very shrewd in doing so. But, if this collapse occurs, he almost definitely WILL be fired. Maybe it doesn't sound fair, but someone has to pay. That's just how things work. Also, it's not as if KW has done anything in his tenure as GM to earn his job. He's failed every year, and this would be just another failure. He may not deserve to be fired, but he likely would be, and he hasn't done enough to ensure job safety.
  5. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) Nice try. But he won't be. Next, Fire Ozzie. Nice try. But he won't be. Next, GET A BAT. Nice try. And that will probably happen. If they do choke completely, somebody should and will be fired. It would be KW before Ozzie, even though Ozzie deserves to be fired more. Also, someone like Walker would be fired. A collapse of that magnitude would positively result in someone losing their job, and it wouldn't just be players.
  6. Nope. And I think you want a "/" there, not a comma.
  7. QUOTE(Clarkdog @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) Thanks. For the record, in no way am I on the ledge - I am a believer in this team and these players. They are my guys and I will support them until the last out. I take a lot of pride in being a supporter of this team as I'm sure all of you do as well. It can be frustrating and exhilarating and it certainly isn't popular. And I think that is what makes us unique. But I resigned myself to the fact along time ago that the Chicago White Sox will never have a great winning tradition. They are the ultimate underdog. But I think that is what makes me a fan - the possibility and hope that they will change that tradition someday. There's one thing that I'm afraid of and angry about when it comes to baseball. I don't want to end up being one of those elderly people that say, "I just want to see the Sox win a WS before I die." I'd rather them do it sooner than later, and take that stress off of me.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) he is a wet blanket A consistent wet blanket, at least. S720, you're just not even worth my time.
  9. They sure will, and it will be justified.
  10. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 01:34 PM) Herb, I'm agreeing with you! EDIT: Herb gets called out looking. Re-read the post. I thought you were agreeing at first because of your history, but then I read second and third parts and I figured the first part was sarcastic. Phew...
  11. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) That is an epic post. Well done. Wah-wah-wah if you call bulls*** on a team that once owned a 15 game lead, you are a whining, sniveling, band-wagon, Cubs fan...you're no Sox fan. Blow me. Whoa, settle down. Something like that could be considered a personal attack. I think you're more angry with the Sox than with me.
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 12:24 PM) If they blow this and dont make the playoffs, Brooks will have a hard time marketting this team for tickets. So sad, if they had kept winning, cruised into the playoffs and won a series they would of had more season ticket holders. If they blow this, it will be tumbleweed city out there. Oh man, I can't even imagine how empty that place will be if they choke this away. Hell, they'll probably have trouble if they only get the WC or stumble into the playoffs and get pissed on.
  13. QUOTE(LauraJ14 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 12:06 PM) When the season is over; the Sox are still in first place if you haven't noticed. Now is not the time to be jumping but if you do , don't come back when they are in the playoffs. No one ever said this would be easy and its not supposed to be. No, you react while the sky is falling. You don't react after it has already fallen.
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) thanks for being the all time worst wet blanket lately. It was only the truth. We are not the best team in baseball, whether you look at record or performance. And I doubt, and honestly hope, that nobody's dream is to watch the team do great and then fade when it matters.
  15. QUOTE(S720 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 11:44 AM) WHY ARE YOU NEGATIVE, THE SKY IS FALLING MINDS STILL ON THIS BOARD? Like SOXFAN1 stated yesterday after the loss, he'll see us next March. If your heart is just not too strong for these kinds of games, then stop watching nor even come to this board. Personally, I believe Buehrle and Garland will win these next two games for us. Everybody will be smiling, high-fiving once again by Thursday morning. Keep up your faith!Go Sox At what point do you actually realize the sky is falling?
  16. QUOTE(SoIL @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 11:10 AM) Yes. I'm curious why'd you be a fan of a team you consider to have a "s*** heap" of a history. Just asking a question, not trying to start an argument. We certainly aren't the Yankees, and we do have some duboius history. But your comments seems to pretty harsh for a team you cheer for. You first responded to the wrong person. I noticed that you were directing your comment at me, and I answered. You must have somehow missed my response and again asked a question of the wrong person.
  17. QUOTE(zoonie824 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) Ozzie, Diehard sox fan here. I am sick of all this critcism. You and your players are in the position that you are in because of the great job you have done. We have the best record in the American League thanks to you. We have been in first place all year thanks to you. You have saitisfied every Sox fans dream this year. This is what we have wanted all of our lives. Excitement, sorrow, all mixed in. Do not let the media get to you Ozzie. Just get the job done. The bad times are out of our systems, and now all is left is the good. We're still in first, and we're still the best team in baseball. Think of it that way. Just take these next two, and lead us to the ring. Sincerely, Loyal White Sox Fan You can't be serious with that line. And we're not the best team in baseball. Haven't been for a while, no matter how you look at it.
  18. Have thrown a WS more recently than they have won one. Moron, eh? Perennial good, eh? Grammar, eh?
  19. QUOTE(SoIL @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) the s*** heap which is the history of the White Sox. If this is how you really feel why are you a fan? Wouldn't you be better off with a different team? Because I was born and raised a White Sox fan. I've been watching them for as long as can remember, and attending about 30 games a year until I had to conserve money for college. All of that doesn't change the fact that the Chicago White Sox are basically the second-worst franchise in baseball history. And that doesn't mean I should be happy that we suck. I want that to change.
  20. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) Yep I don't care how the hell we win, all these complaints about "Oh we should be kicking KC's ass 1,000,000 to -99, why aren't they doing better, yada yada yada" so long as they get the f***ing job done, and take 1 off the magic number. But we're not even beating KC anymore.
  21. We played well in one game in the last 40923u20235 games (yep, there's a "u" in there) and we still lost. We're quite possibly in the middle of the worst regular season collapse in the entire history of baseball, and this would only add on to the s*** heap which is the history of the White Sox. That is why people are angry.
  22. QUOTE(JoshPR @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) Say no to Vazquez, Would get murdered in USCF. How about Troy Glaus? Would like a left handed hitting Firstbaseman. Overbay would help some. What's the tracey love fest? Don't sweat it guys. Reinsdork ain't gonna spend Happy 30th birthday
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) Remember when I got into an argument comparing Ozzie to Frank Robinson about two months ago? Some poster on this site was saying in early August that Ozzie should never be criticized because he would be the MotY. My response to that was: Yeah, and after June, Frank Robinson would have won NL MotY. It's a 162 game season....and all it takes is a 4 game winning streak by the Sox to reverse this awful karma. We've done it numerous times before this season. You've been preaching Ozzie's ineptitude this entire season, and I assume even longer. You're just a terrible fan, you fraud. Why don't you go root for the Cubs? Go buy a blue hat and be happy to be teased, kicked in the balls repeatedly, and come back "next year" with your rose-colored glasses on (or whatever that expression is).
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) Didn't you know? Voting for all awards takes place on July 31st. Voting? What in the hell are you talking about? Ozzie was chosen by the hand of God Himself to win that award. There is no way he could lose.
  25. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 10:06 AM) Thank God that Everett and Crede didn't play last night or we would have never gotten back in that game :rolly Yes, it's a damn good thing they factored into a game, finally. Unfortunately, their efforts were for naught.
