Yay, let's not be angry! Rejoice in that fact that we had a huge lead, revel in the glory that is the history of the Chicago White Sox, and embrace the upcoming chokejob with glee, lest you be a Cub fan.

Mark: We need you badly tommorrow

BEST RECORD IN THE AL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Right, guys? We could never blow this lead.

This division is the Indians' to win.

QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) oh man I totally agree. My roommate is a RedSox fan. There is no reasoning with him. Watching the World Series last year was so horrible I have 5 of them. Beat that!

QUOTE(S720 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) I can't believe Freddie is pitching like s***! What the hell is going on with him? Damn it Freddie! Buckle up and shut down the Indians NOW! You can't believe it? Freddy doesn't try unless he feels like it. He must not have felt like it today. And he always gets hit around in the first few innings.

Here's your 9 million bucks, don't bother trying.

If Garcia gets through the 1st inning...

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 02:51 PM) If ANY pitcher can't get fired up for this kind of game, he shouldn't be starting. KC? TB? I can understand not getting fired up...but THIS game...COME ON!!! I can't. What kind of competitor can't get fired up for every game, when they're only out there once every 5 days...and they get 9 million dollars for doing it? -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) Burnett right now is doing exactly what he's done his whole career. Right around the trading deadline he was unbeatable...now he's getting beaten around. Moving leagues does not change who a pitcher is. AJ Burnett is a clone of Kerry Wood. He has dominating stuff at times, but at other times he just gets knocked around. He doesn't seem to learn from his mistakes. And every time he goes up, he comes just as far back down. There's no reason to assume that somehow switching leagues or teams would make him a totally different pitcher in 2 months. I think it does make a difference if a team has never seen a pitcher, or if they have hardly ever seen him. A lot of times you see a pitcher moving from the NL to the AL, having a lot of success for a few months (which would be great for a stretch run and playoffs), but then come back down to earth very hard after a while.
-
...what? They have nothing to lose? That's f***ing ridiculous. They have a whole helluva lot to lose, and that includes attendance and respect for years to come, not to mention a playoff berth and the possibility of blowing the biggest lead ever. Oh, and we have money to lose that could be spent in the offseason.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 10:14 AM) First time I've seen that for a topic regarding the trade deadline , but anyways the way Burnett is pitching now, no he wouldn't be in our playoff rotation, and the Cell is definitely more of a hitters park than Pro Player Stadium. And with Contreras pitching the way he is, and JG and FG, I doubt he would of made it anyways. Quite simply, the need wasn't as great as others that we have. Eh, I don't know about that. I tend to think that he'd have a great run while he faced most AL teams for the first time. Something like Clement had for a while in Boston. A new pitcher with great stuff facing teams that have hardly ever seen him could have been very tough to beat.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 09:39 AM) Burnett walks to Detroit on a 4 year $48M deal at the end of the off-season. Still do that deal? I wouldn't be making a deal for the future. It would have been for this year. It's easy to say you wouldn't do the deal now that McCarthy has actually done well in his recent starts and Burnett has faded. KW held off and that might turn out to be a good move, but we'll never know what Burnett would do had he been traded here. I'll always take a proven talent over a mystery.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 09:33 AM) That prospect being Brandon McCarthy. We know how that's turned out. I'd still take Burnett over McCarthy. I think the experience he has would be more helpful at this point.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) Definitely. We're not going to get much help the rest of the year so we're going to have to put away Cleveland and it's that simple. Rogers makes a great point in this article of how it's been more about Cleveland winning then us losing. Everyone here has said all year "well if we play .500 the rest of the way we're in," well we've been playing .500 ball, not what we're capable of but not terrible either. This could be the series that wakes this team up and gets them back on track. Who knows this could be the series that gets us on a roll and takes us into the playoffs and deep into the playoffs, lets hope so. We've been saying stuff like that for a couple months now. We've been looking for that unknown thing that will spark this team again.
-
QUOTE(S720 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) And the AJ Burnett whom we all wanted to trade for at the expense of Contreras: In his last five starts 0-5 with a 7.40 ERA Contreras, I'm sorry I have doubted you! Most people actually wanted to trade for Burnett to replace Duque. At one point, there was a rumor that it would only take Marte and a pretty good prospect to land Burnett.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 12:33 AM) I was really back and forth rooting for the Twins and Yankees during that series last year. For some reason I don't hate the Yanks as much as the Red Sox. I would have definitely rooted for Minny in a Twins/BoSox ALCS. The Red Sox are so much worse than the Yankees. At least the Yankees are honest in their approach to winning titles. A Red Sox fan will b**** at you for an hour about the Yankees buying titles, turn around, and talk about being a "team of destiny"...with the highest payroll of any team to win the Series ever. Oh, and they're fair-weather and they don't know baseball for the most part.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) took you a while. let's just say you guys aren't quick to come around when we win. Yet, if we were to have lost you guys would have made 3-4 negative threads by now. Hi. Watched the Patriots and went out to get some dinner. Sorry I couldn't be around. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) And that's one of the reasons that either our GM or Manager will be fired. No doubt it will be KW. OG will get away with his job where he'll stay for the remainder of his contract to suck and continue to prevent us from being good enough to win the WS. It should be Ozzie, without a doubt. But, it will be KW.

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) What are you, Jerry Reinsdorf's mouthpiece? We have over 2 million in attendance and this is one of the better attendance years in recent memory. What is their excuse for not getting anyone? Nobody else made any moves, duh.
-
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) How are those $200M Yankees doing? They've, uh, got 26 rings. I'm sure a few drought years are killing them, though.
-
What are the payrolls for all of the Central division teams? For the last 5 years, too? What a piss-poor way to run an organization. We've had the highest payroll, besides the Tigers this year, I think, for a while in our division. Just a terrible organization.

Keep Writing the Sox Off, friends + foes
Milkman delivers replied to beck72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think you're all missing a huge aspect. This team is not the same team they were at the beginning of the year. They're different teams, and this one sucks. They don't thrive off of being doubted, they fold and agree with the doubt. This team is just another piece of s*** White Sox team that we've become accustomed to. -
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) This team doesn't inspire me in the least. It cannot and will not win deep in the postseason. The 03 team at least had a shot if we made it there. That team had its flaws but had a superior offense along with less pitching depth but 1-3 it was as good or better. I bought into Ozzie-ball after some skepticism but now I feel foolish for thinking that this is how you win games. Count me in on that one. I stopped believing in Ozzieball about 3 months ago, though.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) I was told many times that the hitting coach doesnt matter at all. However the Indians who couldnt hit the side of the wall fired Eddy Murray. They then started hitting. I suppose you'd be a better hitting coach, eh? Why don't you stop questioning people that clearly know what they're doing and have us with the BEST RECORD IN THE AL?! The negativity here blows my mind sometimes. It's frightening.
