  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 06:59 PM) Yes sir, from the greatest montage in movie history. I disagree. The greatest montage scene in movie history is in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, when they play Tarzan Boy by Baltimora
  2. I came home from class, after walking through the pouring rain, and got there just in time to watch the bottom of the 9th. I sat there and watched the last 3 outs soaking wet. It was worth it.
  3. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) You're the best........ Arouuund --- From Karate Kid Joe "Bean" Esposito?
  4. See that ship over there, boy? They say it's rebroadcasting major league baseball with implied oral consent, not expressed written consent...or so the legend goes.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:34 AM) You are so full of crap all the time.... Yes they pitched a lot but Buehrle pitched like 14 more innings last year and never had the late season meltdown and has always been a workhorse. Jon Garland is at 214 IP and he had 217 last year and while he was never as good he never started playing more s***ty the 2nd half because of all his innings. Freddy Garcia is just above the norm of what he usually pitches in terms of innings but he has done more in the past than he did this year. Than Jose Contreras is having his best season yet so thats not an issue. As for Gload its been said a thousand times that he wasnt healthy enough to play the OF and it wasnt worth a roster spot to have for a backup 1B especially when Konerko doesnt miss many games. Marte is the veteran and this is Cotts first good season so he is going with the past. Im sure after Cotts great season this year Ozzie will be much more comfortable going with him in late game situations. Its funny because at the begining of the season people were b****ing when Ozzie put Cotts in close games. El Duque started the season and is a proven veteran and his main purpose was to help us in sept. to make the playoffs and than be the proven playoff pitcher. So Ozzie tried sticking with him as long as he could until he was sure it was a lost cause. Most managers will stick with their veterans as long as they can until they are 100% sure he isnt going to cut it. Not unless he changes his name to Neal Martinez.
  6. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:27 AM) This is quite an historic event, actually. Sure it was just a matter of time before live observations were made, but people have spent years trying. Claude Roper at Smithsonian has pretty much become the Captain Ahab of the giant squid community, and most folks thought Claude would be the first to nab one. Interestingly, it is really fortuitous that the tentacle (which looks to me to have been one of the two lsex tentacles that house sperm packets in males and serve as copulatory organs. Without expert close examination of the suckers and hooks on teh tentacles, they likely would not have been able to peg the animal as Architeuthis. Kudos, Japanese Sqid Dudes! In the article, I thought it said that the suckers had small teeth and that another kind of squid (the colossal squid?) is the one with the hooks? And the colossal squid is even bigger than the giant squid? So many question marks.
  7. Haven't the Angels already said that PK will be their number one target in the offseason? We're going to outbid Anaheim? No, we're not. PK will get more money than he's worth, a lot more. And that will mean that we'll have to get a 1B (or possibly 3B) through a trade. That's fine by me. I've been saying that Konerko has had his foot out the door ever since he took a completely selfish approach at the plate the first three months of the season. The guy was and still is looking for a big payday, and I don't mean the candy bar, though that wouldn't surprise me either since he's a fat piece of crap.
  8. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) Our talent IS great. Our skill and ability to put it together and get our collective heads out of our asses is NOT GREAT. It is? You think Carl Everett is great? Jermaine Dye (who I agree has been a plus) is great? Joe Crede great? Juan Uribe great?? Yes, Paulie is great. I think AJ may be close to great. Aaron great? Pods GREAT? Give me a break. It's easy to blame the manager so I'll give in and won't type in any more on this thread. You win. Yay, we win!
  9. Carl Everett is quite possibly the worst DH in baseball. Shut up, Carl.
  10. You really believe this collection of talent we have was worthy of winning 94 games without a good manager? Tough crowd. He sucks.
  11. Well, OG sucks as a manager. He can't manage, which is a large part of the job. He is, on the other hand, a tremendous cheerleader. He'd easily be the captain of the pep squad if they were to create one. In other news, I'm beginning to think we could possibly do something if we were to make the playoffs. Hell, I guess we could get hot for 11 games in October. Stranger things have happened. I only have one question. Wasn't Detroit supposed to roll over and lose all of their desire recently? EDIT: And my slight change of attitude might be due to the fact that I haven't seen a game in a long time.
  12. Break Stuff by Limp Bizkit. Oh yeah, Limp Bizkit sure does suck, but that's exactly how I feel at the end of every year when some other team is holding their trophy.
  13. I can't wait to see Crede on another team like the Devil Rays. Oh wait, they already have a better 3B. Tough s***, Joe. Shouldn't have sucked so much.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 03:18 PM) And Ozzies... Plus don't forget Paul Konerko sucks. And Jeff Bajenaru. He sucks a lot, too.
  15. QUOTE(Reddy @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) is it weird that my reaction wasnt a negative one? i dunno, i've always appreciated that ozzie's said EXACTLY what he feels, and i actually kind of like him more after this. He's doing this for the love of the game - not the money. i dunno... and the part about going crazy after a loss, thats a good thing right? lol well all i do know is that i pretty much respect ozzie more after that - though honestly i'm not sure why... Well, he's certainly not doing it for the fans. Didn't you know that the players play for themselves, not the fans?
  16. Haha, he throws up regularly? What a sissy girl. Joo da manajuh, buddy. You wanted the job and now you cry like a little girl when things go wrong? "Nobody appreciates me, wa wa wa." I thought this guy was supposed to be a hard ass?
  17. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 11:30 PM) I still say, when we win the division, there is no jumping back on the wagon when you LEAP off it. And do you have a stick or some sort of blunt object to prevent people from jumping back on this wagon?
  18. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 11:30 PM) I still say, when we win the division, there is no jumping back on the wagon when you LEAP off it. I've been saying that they'd probably win the division, but get pissed on in the playoffs. Letting that lead slip away is still collapsing, especially if they blow in the playoffs, too.
  19. I can't believe this isn't on there. Buck Weaver: You get out there, and the stands are full and everybody's cheerin'. It's like everybody in the world come to see you. And inside of that there's the players, they're yakkin' it up. The pitcher throws and you look for that pill... suddenly there's nothing else in the ballpark but you and it. Sometimes, when you feel right, there's a groove there, and the bat just eases into it and meets that ball. When the bat meets that ball and you feel that ball just give, you know it's going to go a long way. Damn, if you don't feel like you're going to live forever.
  20. QUOTE(AirScott @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) In my opinion, he's a step up from Ozzie...a fiery manager, except Piniella's baseball IQ is higher. thing is, I wouldn't say Ozzie has done anything to get fired (yet, it really depends on how this season ends). A step up? Piniella >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Guillen
  21. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) i will take the win. If Zambrano had better control he would've been able to pitch a complete game or at least got it to Dempster. I'm not sure I even understand what's going on here. You're asking more out of a guy than to go 7 scoreless innings, with one hit?
  22. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) I think it is way overblown. I dont think Boone has cleat marks in his back, it really looked like to me that AJ did his best to keep his wieght off of his foot, he just doesnt have a long or fast stride. Unfortunate for Boone, but Aaron certainly didnt look pissed after it was over. And I have yet to read anything indicating he was angry. I don't even think it was blown at all. Sort of like a few people on this site...
  23. I don't know if it's been pointed out, but the word "lying" was spelled wrong in the title.
