Don't suck.

White Sox @ Royals 9/14 Gamethread
OMG, we lost? I turned off gameday about an 1 1/2 hours ago figuring it was over. This is almost funny. Three runs in the 9th against the Royals. We have no chance in the playoffs.

Really, how much money do we have to shove down Garcia's throat to make him try every game?

Bonds
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 05:17 PM) Bonds is the greatest baseball player of all time. Period. When Bonds can win 96 games as a pitcher, hit over 700 homers in bigger parks, and be a fat, womanizing, drunken slob, then I'll consider him the greatest baseball player of all time.

Something to keep in mind
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) Personally I would like to see Cleveland and us in the playoffs... and Boston and LAA. Although, playing ANY team out west first scares the s*** out of me... especially after this weekend. Playing any team besides the Indians in the playoffs scares me. Wait, even they scare me with the way they're hitting now.

Simpsons/Family Guy/American Dad Season Premiers
QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) that's old simpsons, which are awesome. the new ones are god awful, that's what everyone is complaining about. Yes, I know. That's why I said something about people who still like the Simpsons in the post before that.

Come on Guys
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) What the heck does this have to do with the post? Lets not rip the guys taste in music. If he likes rap so be it. He's gangsta, he can take it.

Simpsons/Family Guy/American Dad Season Premiers
And I wanted to add one great quote from the Simpsons. Homer: Clemens, did I make the team? Clemens: You sure did! Homer: I did? Woohoo! In your face, Strawberry. Clemens: Wait a minute, Are you Ken Griffey Jr.? Homer: No. Clemens: Sorry, didn't mean to get your hopes up.

Simpsons/Family Guy/American Dad Season Premiers
I've seen the Family Guy movie. It's pretty good. Not as funny as some of the episodes, but it's still damn funny. And anyone who still likes the Simpsons: Just you shut your mouth. (You'll know I'm making an allusion after you see the movie.) EDIT: Family Guy movie, that is.

Konerko to be an Angel?
He's been out the door for months. This is nothing new.

Idea about how to bring Frank Back Next year
Frank cannot be trusted anymore. He clearly was swinging for the fences on every pitch and hit for a piss-poor average. He'll do the same if he's brought back because he's in range of 500 homers, which he'll never reach, BTW. He's way too injury prone now, and if he sticks around the majors for a few more years, you might as well just call him Crimedog. We have no use for a player like that.

Duque/McCarthy situation
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 12:25 AM) I'm with you on that. I don't want people telling me how great he was 5 years ago. Thats like telling me how great Frank was 5 years ago and how nice it would be to have him in the lineup. Obviously those things would be great, but its not going to happen. Fact is El Duque isn't the pitcher he once was. Those years he pitched well in the playoffs, he also pitched well during the regular season. You don't just show up in the post-season and turn into another pitcher (there are always exceptions, ie Derek Lowe last year) but for the most part it doesn't happen. Ha, try bringing that up to certain posters in the game thread. I tried that about a month ago, and I was basically told that Duque is and forever will be better than Cy Young in the postseason.

Well...
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) Thanks. I don't want to give the impression that I'm asking anyone to stop discussing things. I think of most of these posts as electronic 'nervous chatter', which is natural. All I can say is, thank God football's starting now. So we can realize our entire city sucks in sports? Seriously, I don't know how a major city like Chicago can suck so much in just about every aspect of sports. We had the Bulls, and that's great for most, but I don't even care about basketball. We might have arguably the worst two baseball franchises in history (forgetting about the Rockies and Devil Rays, which probably won't even be around in a few years) and the Bears and Blackhawks. I guess we can hang our hats on the '85 Bears for another 20 years, though. This city needs to get its act together.

Does anyone really want to see Contreras traded? Do you actually want Duque pitching for us another year older? He's basically worthless this year. Why would we want to keep him next year?

I can't wait until Duque magically gets hot for the playoffs. He's gonna be a sweet playoff ace.

Will Buerhle fix himself before October?
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 01:04 PM) Guys Mark Buehrle is currently the ERA leader in the AL. He is an inning eater. HE IS AN ACE. He is just going through a rough stretch. He is still the best pitcher in this city. My god. Two months ago he was the best pitcher in basebal. He is having a career year. Let's settle down and relax. He had a bad game. He is struggling right now. Santana was terrible earlier this season. Is he still an ace? Hell yes. In fact last season can anyone tell me who the Sox beat in that game that they won 17-7? BS. He just happens to have a bad game or he struggles whenever he's up against a playoff-caliber team. There's no way that Mark Buehrle is an ace. Aces beat the best teams, Mark Buehrle doesn't. I'm sure he'll win his next few starts against the Royals, Tigers, _____ garbage team, and then everyone will be happy and say, "See, that's our ace!" Then, he'll get destroyed by a good team in the playoffs...and he was just struggling at the time.

Will Buerhle fix himself before October?
QUOTE(Reddy @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) buehrle's fine How's that? Because you believe in him? That doesn't make him not suck against good teams. And I guarantee you that we don't face any bad teams in the playoffs.
-
Look who has baseball's best record again
Who's Mark Buehrle? f*** Greg Maddux.

WS Nightmare
QUOTE(Bias @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) My only beef with Ozzie is him basically saying screw the fans (those that boo), I'm trying to win games. How the hell can you be trying to win games when you know Marte has been a gas can? Either he's lying or he doesn't actually know what he's doing and is more lucky than good. Man, I sure hope he's lying....... Didn't Ozzie say something along the lines of "we don't play for the fans" a while ago?

Where is Cotts?
QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 12:04 AM) i think it is good to be complaining as we cannot sit here and be complacent with the way things went down tonight because in the playoffs worse things can happen and it is not like hermanson was dazzling either as Sweeney really should've drilled one of those pitches Hermanson threw up there I guarantee there were plenty of Red Sox fans complaining about Little leaving starters in too long during the 2003 season, with plenty of other fans telling him to relax.
-
AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&#
QUOTE(the People's Champ @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 11:55 PM) Hermanson was never not the go to guy. If it wasnt for his back problems noone else would have had a shot. Anyway. Great game. wish I didnt have to see Marte tonight, but a win is a win. Caught two BP homerun balls. All is good!!! Bring on the Patio Party, and the Almost a sure jinx.

Eating Crow: Paul Konerko
I think another big factor will be how PK performs in the playoffs. If he pulls (pun intended) a 2000 vs. Mariners, then that would make a decision easier.
