Step it Up El Duque!!!!!
In order to not be banned, I have not spiced up this sentence: El Duque is not good at pitching. He is, in fact, quite the opposite. If you read this, Duque, or someone else from the Sox reads this to you, please don't cry. I don't want to make you feel bad about your inability to pitch. I'm sure you tried.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) Contreras? They're pretty much equally terrible with runners.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) He runs pretty well, El Duque is easy to steal on though. Huge understatement. He must be the easiest pitcher to steal off of in baseball.

The catcher just stole a base, eh?

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 01:17 PM) Haha, well said. I can't wait to hear Ozzie say how great he pitched today, and that he'll give him another chance. You do know McCarthy isn't Roger Clemens, don't you? Orlando Hernandez in the postseason = Roger Clemens Get it straight.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) Duque is f***ing terrible. Hopefully, this is the last time he starts for the Sox this year. He battled out of the previous innings, but he just allows too many runners to have a chance to be successful now. Just STFU. You'll be grateful when he tears up the postseason. I can't believe you some times.

Best we can hope for is to not be no-hit. That's high hopes.

Buerhle's comments, regardind Indians Series
Instead of someone trying to motivate the team by making saying some vague statement, I'd prefer Ozzie (or anyone, really) to start throwing chairs around in the clubhouse and flipping out and hyping these guys up.

Funny College Stories...
There's plenty of stories, but this one I'm extremely proud of. It's short and sweet. I was absolutely obliterated one time during freshman year, and I don't even remember doing this, but I successfully peed while doing the grapevine (the thing from gym class where you run sideways and keep switching your feet over and over). They told me in the morning, and I looked down at my pants to see if I had "spilled" and I was completely clean. And I still have two more years...

Odd play in the Red Sox game
QUOTE(KansasSoxFan @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) The rule makes sense to me. I can't imagine any team giving up a "free" run that they've already earned. Without the rule, I bet Kapler would've crawled home. That would just be pathetic. He tried to get up and walk it, but the trainers wouldn't let him do it.

How has the Sox recent slide
It hardly bothers me at all since I'm back at school. I'll get to see the Red Sox win another WS this year, so that'll be fantastic. I found out that one of my teachers is a White Sox fan the other day. That was strange because he's the first person I've met out here that's not from Chicago and is a White Sox fan. We both agreed they'd blow it somehow. Seeing all the success of Boston teams recently, I've come to realize that Chicago is a city specifically made for losing. I've accepted it. We suck. Some team here might stumble on a title at some point, I guess. And I guess there's always the '85 Bears.

Has anyone thanked Buehrle for being an ace yet today? If not, I'd like to be the first.

Ugghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) Why the hell are we even fans then? So we can piss all over them and talk about how we were right in worrying about them falling apart? We're fans so we can be PROUD that they're choking, all for the sake of "being right"? Wow. I understand the elephants aren't crapping rose petals at the Sox player's feet right now, but damn... let's hope they can regroup here. I'm not bailing, and yes I'll be disappointed if they lose this thing. But it certainly represents the point that we were waaaaaaaaaaaay too arrogant about two months ago, doesn't it? You put so many words into my mouth that I'm just going to ignore most of it. This team is choking, and there's no way to spin it and make it seem rosy. They're choking away a huge division lead, they can't beat good teams, and they're ice cold when it really matters. They haven't won a WS since 1917. Quit telling us we can't be mad at these losers for repeatedly letting its fanbase down year in and year out. This team is the second worst franchise in the history of baseball, but we can't be angry at them for teasing us again? No, I'll be just as angry as I please. And if you don't think I'm a "fan" because of it, then I'll just let you believe that and I'll be with the 90% of Sox fans that feels exactly the way I feel right now.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 07:22 AM) In March, we would have all been cheering our asses off to be in the position we are in. We're on top, yes starting to look back, but it's better then Cleveland's position, IMO. The problem is that it's not 6 months ago. I don't care what I expected in March because this division should've been put away a while ago. Is that gonna be the attitude when they blow this division or barely make the playoffs and get destroyed in the first round? Oh, well...we didn't even expect to get that far. No, the attitude should be "omg, I can't believe we fell apart that quickly. When is this team gonna stop sucking?"

Ozzie calls meeting with Vets before Weds game
I guess he can't even cheerlead anymore.
