  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 22, 2011 -> 09:57 PM) Dude the officials aren't deciding this. The bulls need stops now. Exactly, the Bulls are playing like garbage.
  2. Holy s***. This game has been super frustrating to watch. Rose needs to go into beast mode now.
  3. f***, I'm seriously sad about this. I loved him as a kid and had grown to respect him as an entertainer even more so as an adult.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 15, 2011 -> 10:30 PM) I don't think that's that bold of a statement. Really, there is no bench that is good enough to go toe to toe with the Bulls'. What's better is how well the Bulls bench has played against Miami both in the regular season and tonight. The Heat have the advantage in star power/talent - whatever you want to call it. But as was shown tonight, they have superior depth, superior size, and far superior coaching. I think Miami is going to have to shove a horseshoe up their own ass if they want to win this series.
  5. Wait, I thought depth and team defense didn't matter in the NBA playoffs? Star power>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>anything else.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2011 -> 09:59 PM) Seriously, me neither. Not that anyone cares, but I've emotionally checked out on this team. Sure, they can suck me back in with a 25-5 stretch, but I just don't believe in the organization right now. I'll be watching games now to enjoy Santos, Humber, and hope to see improvements from Beckham/Quentin/Rios/Dunn/Sale/Floyd/Morel In a weird way, I'm actually relieved that the Sox are this bad early on. I can dedicate the time I would have spent watching the Sox to more productive things. I liken this team (and many others in the past 15 years) to the f***-up that each and every one of us knows. The guy or girl who has the attributes (brains, looks, personality) to lead a productive and successful life, but for whatever reason can't get their s*** together. A textbook example of wasted potential. Your feelings towards this person tend to progress in this fashion: frustration-->disappointment-->indifference And that is pretty much where I am at with the 2011 White Sox.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2011 -> 11:12 PM) Wasn't that reward for killing Osama something like 20 million? I think it was 25 million.
  8. So, what (if any) effect does this have on what is going on in North Africa and the Middle East?

  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 18, 2011 -> 01:31 AM) Haven't been able to spend much time with Val because he has spent a ton of time preparing for his presentations. Will Forte made a bit of a surprise appearance to introduce Val for his presentation, and had less going on, so we've been able to hang out with him quite a bit more. That was just fine by me. He has been an absolute blast to hang out with and even gave me $20. It's been an incredible weekend, to say the least, and doesn't really end until like 3-4 PM tomorrow. wite, how did you end up with this opportunity? What exactly are you doing -- just driving him around? Also, what are his "presentations" about?
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 07:42 PM) No rain was forecasted though. Wasn't it in the low 50s? The temp on the right field scoreboard was at 53/54 degrees all game, but it was much colder in the shade. I was in Section 114/Row 1 and from about the 5th inning on it was like 35 degrees (it became overcast). The wind whipping around the stadium didn't help matters much.
  12. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 07:30 PM) A second NFL team would probably get me as a fan. Although I'm a bears fan, pretty sure I'd be an easy convert. Same here. I'm pretty sure that there are a lot of people in the same boat. The general ineptitude of the franchise combined with the obnoxious fanbase makes it hard to be a Bears fan.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 07:14 PM) 23,500 attendance today...that's really bad for a Sunday day game with decent weather. This road trip is huge for so many reasons. I was at the game and the stadium looked more than half empty. It seemed like there were tons of families in attendance today, but not many people in the core demographic. The Sox definitely need to pick it up to get those people to the ballpark.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 09:38 AM) BigSqwert, is that your dog?
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 02:57 AM) Will you stop watching/following White Sox baseball for the next 5 years if we go deep into the playoffs or even win the WS? Winning the WS is obviously the ultimate. But I'd like to be good every year, or as often as possible. We're set up to win this year and possibly next. For some fans, that's enough. They don't care about 2013 or 2014. And that's fine. I think like a GM. Well, not KW, obviously. Clearly, that is what I was trying to say. Do you really think anybody who posts on this board wants that? This is a message board populated by people that are complete nerds about the Chicago White Sox. This is what I was trying to say --- in plain, easy to understand language: THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THE HUDSON TRADE AT THIS POINT. It's been almost nine months since the trade happened. Stop obsessing over it.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 05:29 PM) I don't care if Jackson goes Felix Hernandez this year. If he walks after this year then the trade will have been a colossal fail. Hudson is right on par with Jackson from a talent/stuff perspective. And he likely has better command/control. Forgot about AL/NL crap. And Arizona has another 5 years or so before they have to worry about losing him to FA. You say the most ridiculous s***. In the case that Edwin Jackson were to "go Felix Hernandez this year", he would win the Cy Young and likely anchor the White Sox starting staff for a deep postseason run. But who cares about that?
  17. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 10:20 PM) Note that the Cubs took who was pretty much the best 8th inning guy I've ever seen (Hawkins), moved him to closer where he failed...kept him there in hopes he'd pitch through it...and effectively ruined his career. He never recovered. I'd like to not see that happen to Thornon, and right now, that's exactly what I see, despite it bring early to call this that way, I am anyway...because it's my opinion that the same thing is occurring right before our eyes. Thornton doesnt even look close to comfortable. I'm pretty sure that Hawkins for closed for the Twins for a while. I seem to remember him losing the job to Guardado and then going back to destroying hitters as a set up man without missing a beat. So, how exactly did the Cubs ruin him? It wasn't as if he hadn't experienced failure in the 9th inning before playing for the Cubs.
  18. I wonder if Cooper has ever approached Thornton about learning another pitch. His slider is not a good secondary pitch. I'm not saying that it would solve his current problems (as locating his fastball better would probably do it), but it would be interesting to know.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 06:47 PM) I agree completely. And this is why I b**** like I do. It's like even if he goes prime Pedro we're f***ed. Jackson going crazy means we're "f***ed"? In what world? The reality is that he probably won't re-sign here in the case of a good OR bad year because of his agent. I think it's fine to take the long view when discussing the makeup of the team -- but the 2011 season is only like 10 games old! Try to enjoy Jackson and Danks while we have 'em.
  20. QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 11:49 AM) (Has Windows 7 Pro. Big advantage if prices are close.) What are the advantages of Windows 7 Pro for the typical user?
  21. QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 10:16 AM) 4. My suggestion: Look for an Intel I5 or AMD Quad-core; 7200rpm hard drive; 4G ram (upgradeable to 8 and then leave enough money in your budget to buy that upgrade). I think someone could find a machine with those specs in the $600 range. What do you think about this HP laptop? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...#scrollHelpful1
