2012-2013 MLB off season tracker thread

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 25, 2012 -> 12:24 PM) Baseball is a game of what have you done for me lately, right? I mean where would the Giants be without Melky? Definitely not playing the first two games at AT&T Park. I'm not sure what his stats were but I'm sure Melky won the Giants several games to put them in a good position before he was suspended. I think there is a big difference in the situations here. Melky got busted doing roids and was suspended, Hamilton came down to earth and had a less than superhuman second half. I dont believe Hamilton is going to be worth the big contract he will be looking for, but im not going to act like he is some bum because he had a bad second half -
2 things: Apparently Heyman is proposing a faction of Lesnar, Punk and Cesaro to creative. This has a ton of potential, that is a group of big heat right now. Ryback is having a hard time doing his own finisher the Shell Shock. A fan put up a video of him trying to do it to Heyman in the dark match after RAW on monday, and he couldnt get Heyman up, even with Heyman "helping" him. WWE took the video down due to copyright infringment immediately, which is not like them. If a Hoss cant do his own finisher, Vince will wash him out pretty quick. Apparently he finished off Heyman with Goldbergs powerbomb, and now Bill is getting a little annoyed with ryback via twitter

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 25, 2012 -> 08:47 AM) No surprise there, his ineptitude cost them a division title subjectively. at the same time, hard to imagine they would be in position for that title without his pre AS break triple crown threat -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 25, 2012 -> 12:06 AM) Time to end everyone's anticipation. I won the WS! Simmed the first 5 games, played Game 6 with Sale. Won 7-3. Sale went 9 innings, 8 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 9 K. And then, to ruin my high, I advanced to the offseason and I see not only does Michael Young retire, who was GREAT for my team, but RA Dickey retired, AND Magglio Ordonez retired. Damnit. Guess I have some work to do. Looks like I may need to call up Kolbrin Vitek to play 3B for this team, and Jose Quintana and Nestor Molina will be in my rotation alongside Danks, Sale, and Humber.

QUOTE (Cali @ Oct 25, 2012 -> 01:29 AM) So the 13 years All Star Game winning streak for the AL from '97-'09 doesn't count? (Not that an exhibition game should matter in deciding what league is better) or the AL's 8 World Series wins in that same time frame? And the AL interleague record is as follows: 2,081-1,883. Almost 200 games over .500, so yeah, superior. You're just glomming on to the last two years because the NL has won both the All Star Game and World Series, which is a grand total of 14 games while ignoring the much bigger sample of almost 4,000 games in which the AL has completely dominated the NL. I dont know who you think you are talking to, but greg does not ignore hard facts that are contrary to his beliefs. He just doesnt.

Haha Valverde. No dancing for you

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 07:08 PM) I just don't see the point of this. Even if it's decent, I would rather just watch the original. Why not just make a sequal with Bruce Campbell. Raimi co-wrote the script and Campbell produced, they both wanted to be less involved but didn't want to be the same roles

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 05:46 PM) Who has been saying that? QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 11:31 PM) That looks like it should be popular with males aged 13-19. What a crap looking movie filled with has-been b-rate stars?

So a filter on one of my directv connections went bad, and the technician came out to fix it and ended up installing a wireless box for free that gives me Directv Ondemand and access to things like Pandora. So thats pretty cool and I didnt expect it

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 04:40 PM) 7 Psychopaths is vey good. Sam Rockwell kills it. NO THATS IMPOSSIBLE FULL OF B LISTERS THAT ONLY 20 YEAR OLDS CAN FIND FUNNY
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 04:15 PM) Cooper doesn't come across as a saint in crawling to the owner or GM to save his own hide during the end of the Oz regime though I realize that is a controversial topic, too. Like Ozzie did multiple times? Including last year when he asked for an extension on his current deal? You are such a hypocrite
-
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 01:13 PM) I guess Ozzie will now recognize how good he had it in Chicago. But can anyone actually say they didn't see this coming? i know one person. and another person pretending to be one person

Yeah, that lawsuit prevented Matt Morgan from making the jump too. Naitch can just wait it out though
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 10:06 AM) I believe we are going to start trying in January. Until then, we just keep practicing! Do, or Do Not. There is no try

that spray on hair was awesome last year it would have been even moreso if it bled down his neck
-
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 08:41 AM) In all actuality Cooper is an affable guy to the general public. He is not this way to the media. I have been to his remote shows and to a dinner he spoke at and the the guy is pretty cool. I get the feeling he just thinks Hanley is a tool. Cooper generally doesnt like people asking him questions about his methods, results, and guys. He is a grouch to Rongey too
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 09:24 PM) Reasonable points, but how do you guys avoid talking about Passon's position and how he agrees with me. And what Passon wrote about Ozz. What about it? Loria being a bad owner had no influence on Ozzies bad behavior. The guy was handed an unearned contract, a new stadium, a competitive team and he managed to burn down everything around himself immediately.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 09:25 PM) I personally think Oz is a lot more likeable than grumpy Coop, whose pitching staff just sucked the last three weeks BTW. But Coop gets a free pass. Well thankfully the Sox hire based on results instead of affability and all around friendliness. And Coops last three weeks was still better than Ozzies entire season
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 05:00 PM) I LOL'd. It was a joke. I do, however, want to knock my wife up for the pregnancy sexxx. I guess that's just me being a red-blooded man, though! What's holding you back, mr red blood? Get to work!
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 06:44 PM) Those working class stiffs spend their hard-earned money on tickets that help pay Ozzie's million dollar salary, yet he has talked s*** about the fans, his teams underperform, and he admits that he doesn't do s*** at the stadium and doesn't really care either. Yes, what a hero to the lower class worker. Lets also not forget how many times greg has said "Ozzie is rich, so it doesnt matter what happens"

oh i figured he was going to bring out the super secret really really real birth certificate
