QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 3, 2012 -> 07:52 PM) Despite whatever was just said...please consider a rescue if you're even remotely willing. I certainly wasnt intending to deter. I did just say that I rescued two bassets myself, but it is a reality of the situation. You should expect some work with rescued dogs, a lot of them are from bad situations and just need someone with patience. If you get a well trained rescued dog, you should consider yourself lucky

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 3, 2012 -> 07:31 PM) I saw a pup a few years back when some girl was walking it on campus and I absolutely fell in love. Then my buddy moved in with a friend who had one and I was over there all the time. Absolutely the most badass dog on the planet. Only problem is I don't know where to get one. And I'd rather not pay $800 for one. That's what I've heard. Good part is that they can spend a ton of time outside, so they don't necessarily need to be inside all the time. But I'd certainly have mine inside most of the day. They're a big responsibility, but I'm willing to do it. If you want a purebred, then you better pucker up and get ready to drop more than $800 my friend. Of course, there are many rescue operations as well, but any rescued dog could have a number of different issues ranging from seperation anxiety and aggressiveness to my current issue, not being housebroken. We had one when I was a teenager, the smartest dog I have ever had. I know my Dad dropped more than 1500 on her, and she was well worth it. We actually recieved a lineage sheet that traced her roots back to the owners original dogs from the 50s. I can look up the kennel if you want, they had a house with a large lot that backed up to the Dupage river.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 3, 2012 -> 06:03 PM) WOW...that is one big turtle! How old is your daughter? She is 11. She has been begging for this for 4 years, since she went with me to the Streamwood Reptile swap back when I had my Chameleon and Bearded dragon

Glen Davis suspended for two games by Orlando for conduct detrimental to the team. Apparently him and SVG got into a pretty heated shouting match at practice today. Orlando is in a death spiral.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 3, 2012 -> 12:45 PM) I don't remember what our dog gets. IAMS maybe? My brother just got a golden retriever puppy a couple weeks ago, and I am so excited to go home next weekend and play with her! Also, if you guys don't use an auto-matic feeder for your pets, you NEED to start doing this when you get a new pet (your current animal might flip out and eat itself in to a coma). This looks like the one we have for dog food. We've had it my whole life with both the dogs we have had. And then they drink from a similar thing, but smaller, and obviously for water. It's the best. No one has ever had to "feed the dog", just refill the feeder every couple weeks or so. I have never been to anyone's house who has one of these, and I don't understand why. People too lazy to train their dog to have self control? Wait, you are using a self feeder for your dogs, and you call others lazy for not teaching their dogs self control? What is good for the goose is not always good for the gander. Many dogs will completely gorge themselves until food is not available, you can't just teach them to eat until their stomachs are full. It is great it works for you, doesn't mean it would work for me. And I know it wouldn't.

Geez Shack, you better get to breeding those dogs and get a return on your investment! 24-30 bucks a day is no joke!

I have fed my dogs Nutro Natural Choice for the past 12 years. It doesnt have filler(read: corn) that other major brands have(Pedigree, Purina, Iams, Eukanuba), so there is less stool and more compact stool, easier to clean and easier to notice when your dog isnt feeling well. No rawhide for my dogs either, i have read too many horror stories about intestinal blockage from dogs swallowing whole pieces of rawhide. So i just get Mammoth bones(cow femurs) and pig ears for my dogs to chew. Before my basset Clark passed away he went to the vet for a checkup last year and i was told that his teeth were remarkable for a dog his age(he was 13). Im sticking with what I do, it has worked so far. There are other really good dog food brands that i would consider though, Royal Canin is one of them. I have never tried the raw food diet, but I did watch a Dog Whisperer episode with a family that did with their great danes. It seemed incredibly expensive to me, but its your money and if you think your dog is worth it go for it.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 2, 2012 -> 11:06 AM) So are they both still intact? No, they were fixed 2 weeks ago. Fixed, Chipped, up to date shots. 275 each. Cant really argue with that.

We were told they were a breeding pair at a small breeding operation/ puppy mill that were removed by an intermediary, they are supposed to be around a year old. I believe it with Fred, but not so much with Wilma, I think she is a bit older. They aren't potty trained, which really sucks, but they are really sweet dogs and very much in love with each other, they can't stand to be apart

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Feb 2, 2012 -> 10:14 AM) As long as you aren't one of the people that go to the dogpark and tell everyone how your dog is a rescue dog 15 times good for you... I usually stop at 12 or 13 times. 15 is far too much

Catch-All Anything Thread
So for a little backstory, I had two dogs pass away within the last two months. My basset was 13 years old and had cancer and needed to be put down(thanksgiving night), and my Chocolate lab was 11 and had a heart attack 3 weeks ago and didnt make it to the vet. So we werent really looking for new pets, but a rescue situation was presented to us, and we ended up with Fred and Wilma here

QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 04:58 PM) The front office isn't THAT conservative. Remember we are only a year and a half from the team selling off pieces so they could make a run at 2 max players (LeBron plus one) and after extending Rose and possibly Noah would've pushed them way into luxury tax territory. They failed, but they gave it the best effort they could've been reasonably expected to, and IIRC Forman has already looked into the possibility of getting Howard at least. Fair enough, I guess I am saying that I am used to the conservative nature and won't be broken hearted if it doesn't happen

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 04:16 PM) I'm really struggling to see all this worrying about Dwight. It likely will not happen. I am really not worried about it. If it happens, awesome, I would be ecstatic. If it doesnt, hey, I am used to the Bulls FO being conservative and believing(too much) that what they have is good enough to win a Championship. What I dont understand is why a lot of people(yes YOU Quinarvy ) are acting like some of these trade ideas are possibly too damaging to this teams chemistry/depth etc. While many NBA reporters/columnists/journalists also believe this has no chance of happening, there has been a universal agreement that pairing Rose and Howard is scary for the rest of the NBA for a long stretch of time. It is such a no brainer to make these trades, any of them. I am just commenting on the ideas. Im not sitting here thinking it is going to happen.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 11:29 AM) What? You're crazy. Deron had a great tournament, but in terms of stats during their college careers, Dee Brown had better numbers and was more consistent. Even in 2004-2005 he had better numbers and he was an All-American, Sporting News Player of the Year, and Big Ten Player of the Year. Edit: and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year. who had the better numbers during the title run season? Im just curious, I really dont know. All i know is that people that season were saying "Dee Brown, yea i like him. But man, DWill has come out of nowhere and we really like him"

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 10:20 AM) Look, even Kyyle, a certified J4L hater agrees with me. i certainly dont hate you, i just think you are a little quick on the trigger with your judgements and usually too stubborn to back off your initial snap assessment. And I was just making a call on your small point. Your larger point is a different discussion. Having Melo in college for a minimum 3 years isnt the travesty you think it would be, but I think we all knew Melo was ready to make the jump to the big boys.
