2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 11:47 AM) Rose has missed games. Peavy's problem has been injuries. So it's fine to be intense and try really hard, only if your good. If you don't perform we don't want the players to be intense. The ones who don't perform well we want to be laid back with no insensity? This doesn't make sense to me. I want ALL my players to be intense and have this attitude, not just the ones who play well. No, the ones who dont perform well should keep the s*** talking to themselves until they can go out and do what they say they are going to do. Look, I respect Peavy for coming back early and fighting through a tough injury. But last year he would come up with some rah rah talk about how everyone needs to be more intense and be better, then come out and throw a stinker. I am not asking him to be less intense, Im just asking him not to call his shots in the media until he is past his injuries and can actually accomplish what he is telling everyone else they need to do. Rose has had a few injuries here and there. He also comes back and performs at an extremely high level, injured or healthy. And his "talk" usually consists of "I cant wait to play them again", not "we all need to be better and more intense".

Sox still listening on Gavin
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 11:29 AM) I worry Gavin would get eaten alive in Boston... to be honest, if he goes to Boston, that isnt my worry anymore. It would be a shame to see him get obliterated by the media

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 11:13 AM) Yet when Peavy says these real intense things he gets blasted for them. not by you but by a lot of posters. Rose has said things and backed them up. Peavy, not so much in a White Sox uniform.

Another White Sox / Blue Jays trade on the horizon?
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 11:37 AM) uh...doesn't 'start the rumors' indicate it's just a joke? no need to overreact on the ones that aren't as horrifying. We know it is a joke. He is just calling out everyone else who has a different opinion

Man shoots neighbor's pet Labrador
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 11:16 AM) Before crucifying that other guy, I'd like to hear his side of the story first. Obviously shooting the dog is going to be extreme no matter what and there were probably other measures to be taken, but who knows how many prior incidents took place? Really though, the only thing I could see justifying this is if this guy was attacked by her dog prior and told her to keep the dogs off the property or else. Other than that, merely having a dog enter your property isnt a good enough reason(IMO) to just pull out your rifle and start shooting. It doesnt sound like there was a prior attack here

Rozner: Guillen quit on Sox long ago
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 09:08 AM) I would like to state that myself and Milkman were the first to post on this site, sometime around May 2011, that Ozzie was not trying to win anymore. We were called idiots for a month or two. wait, why is this different from other months?

Rozner: Guillen quit on Sox long ago
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 08:59 AM) I think this is the most accurate and eloquent statement I have seen to date in regards to events that have occurred over the past two years. It sums up exactly how I feel about Ozzie. hmmm, wonder who has the agenda.....

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 08:26 AM) A long high-pitched wail was just heard coming from Kansas. I picture the end scene of Star Wars Episode 3 with Vader standing up and yelling "NOOOOOO" If I wasnt at work, I would find that .gif and post it.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 24, 2012 -> 04:21 PM) Keep in mind that's a Cleveland writer... Then again, if Lebron bolts Miami for Cleveland, he is the wayward son come home, Cleveland rejoice. If he goes elsewhere, he rubberstamps his ring-chasing-Megastar-for-hire image.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 24, 2012 -> 03:11 PM) LeBron not happy with Miami? If the Heat dont win a title this year or next, people are going to start getting restless. Lebron didnt like it when he had his puppet coach in Cleveland, now he doesnt like what Riley does either? STFU

Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2012 -> 01:13 PM) I've mentioned this a few times in here...the difference between a crappy NFL team and a very good NFL team is very small...the devil is in the details in a lot of these things... agreed. a few odd bounces here and there could make the difference in a championship and .500 team.

QUOTE (sunofgold @ Jan 24, 2012 -> 11:42 AM) Kyle Williams is handling this well. Unfortunately, some 49er fans aren't. They should be back in the playoffs next year since they are good and the rest of their division sucks. Jim Harbaugh said though that Kyle Williams didn't have any major shoulder injuries. I felt that Kenny Williams brought up the shoulder issue to try to help deflect blame from his son. Kenny said that he wasn't making excuses but it sounded like he was making an excuse. Kyle is probably handling this better than his dad (understandable since parents usually always try to protect their children) And I read that Kyle Williams also had a fumbled a punt in his last game & last play with Arizona State which cost them the game. And they also lost by the same score 20-17. Maybe Kyle Williams shouldn't be returning punts. emergency situation. unfortunately it didnt work out

Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE (juddling @ Jan 23, 2012 -> 04:42 PM) Quatros pizza always confused me and by that i mean i thought their slices were awesome but when having a whole pizza it just didn't quite taste the same. (Before anyone says it....it wasn't the alcohol that had anything to do with it.) I'll admit it was awfully greasy at times but back when i was Carbondale, LaRoma's got pretty much all of my business. the lunch slices do have a different taste, I know what you are saying. and I have seen thousands of them cooked, nothing is different at all. Campus ladies loved the lunch slice/salad/pepsi deal, I HATED it. too much little crap to carry around, bags ripping, people complaining of cold food. I think Dimaggios was just getting started when I left. Before it closed down, Spaghetti Warehouse was pretty awesome

Peavy vs Ozzie
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 24, 2012 -> 07:56 AM) You need to realize there is a difference between hating a player and admitting it's time to move on. It's a business and your roster size & payroll are finite, so you can't just keep the same players around forever. Nobody hates CQ, they just realized trading him is what's best for the team right now. And who here hasn't blasted Rios & Dunn a lot? H8TER
