  1. T R U, Im not completely pissed about it, but I do think the angle would have done better if they played up the Punk off TV/No contract bit a little more.
  2. Cult of Personality was a good song for his persona at the moment
  3. so, who strikes first when this deal gets signed? last year the bears came shooting out of the gate with peppers, it would be nice to see them do it again
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 07:10 PM) Transmission Electron Microscope. Ah, I wondered what was fired at Carrera's eyes to make him drop that ball. It all makes sense now

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 07:21 PM) When does Walking Dead start again? Sunday, October 16th
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 23, 2011 -> 09:42 PM) I can't believe you guys can't see how ridiculous it is to trade CQ and merely put Dayan there. What does that accomplish? They are the same player potentially? So we add some reliever for CQ? Or a couple minor leaguers? Stupid. Trading one of two productive players in the whole lineup is a smart trade? Dumb as hell. The only way I'd trade him is for a can't miss third baseman. BTW read tonight's Chicago Tribune Gonzalez rainout article. Doesn't sound like changes are imminent. www.chicagotribune.com CLEVELAND — With the July 31 non-waiver trading deadline one week away, manager Ozzie Guillen doesn’t see the need to acquire a player as long as the White Sox show improvement. “A lot of people say we need this or that,” Guillen said before Saturday night’s rainout in Cleveland. “You know what we need? Our guys to play right and play (well). That’s my opinion. “If they start playing (well), I don’t think we need anybody else. If we are not playing good, then (general manager) Kenny Williams could go a different way. If we don’t play good for the next couple of weeks, they could go in a different direction.” Guillen said he hasn’t spoken recently to Williams, who didn’t accompany the Sox on their three-city trip that ends Sunday. “I think he believes the way I believe, that we have a better ballclub than the way we’re playing,” Guillen said. “I still believe we have a better ballclub. We’re just not playing the way we think.” The Sox have survived without a true long reliever since Jake Peavy threw four innings in an emergency appearance June 25. But Brian Bruney said he’s capable of throwing more than one inning if needed. “You start throwing guys two or three innings at a time consistently, guys get fatigued,” Bruney said. “So in my opinion, it’s always better to give a guy an inning but keep him fresh. You give them more work, but you keep them sharp with maybe an inning or 1 1/3 innings rather than stretching guys out. “But I feel comfortable with whatever they ask me because if I need to come in like I did when (John) Danks went down and throw (a career-high) 2 1/3 innings. I felt stronger every inning, I don’t mind doing it.” i cant believe that your baseball blinders are so narrow that you fail to recognize that Quentin is a commodity and Rios and Dunn are albotrosses, and they are UNMOVEABLE. This isnt fantasy baseball greg, this is a business. the Sox will not just eat contracts just because the players arent working out. Quentin is under control for two more years and gets more expensive every year. he isnt a given offensively, he is extremely streaky and if another team is willing to overpay for him and give you a ml ready player, you do it no questions asked. It is time the Sox find out if Viciedo is what they signed him to be. Quentin has provided what, 5 months of success in 3 years and you act asi if he is as untradeable as Pujols. GMAFB. Get some damn perspective on the sport for once in your soxtalk life and quit acting like an allstar appearance and a great catch make you a White Sox for life
  7. QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) Value? What the hell is value? He's proven nothing in his three major league years thus far. I don't see much value in that. Viciedo, on the other hand, hammered the ball all over the place in his limited showing last year, and only continues to do so this year. Besides, there's nothing saying we have to part with Viciedo to get Rasmus, is there? And what's the peak line for Rasmus? Are we talking .280/25/90 or what? Or is he just a .260/20/60 guy? 2010 .276/.361/.498/.859 That is not "nothing"
  8. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 10:10 AM) Once a player has so much big league service time, he cannot be sent to minors without his permission. Same thing as DFA, and Sox owe balance of contract, which is okay by me. Then, maybe Jerry R would have the ovaries to go public with what he really thinks of Kenny. Might as well do it with both Rios and Dunn, have a big party. At least if you cut Dunn, you don't have to feed him anymore. That laughing sound you hear is from the Toronto front office. Maybe a giggle or two from Wahington's front office, because they got a #1 draft pick out of it. Don't know about Dunn's agent. That other laughing sound is the entire league(save the Yankees) laughing at your idea of just DFA-ing Rios and eating the contract.
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 09:58 AM) Anyone think the Sox frugal draft spending might have to do with bitterness over Joe Borchard? Wouldnt the drafting of Beckham and Sale disprove that? They werent exactly cheap
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 09:44 AM) This is the chicken or the egg argument. We wouldn't have had to spend so much if we had a good farm system filled with talent. The difference is, the Rays have to trade that good talent(Garza) away or watch it walk(Crawford, Soriano, Pena) because they can only choose to keep a few of them(Longoria). The Sox can resign their talent if they choose
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 23, 2011 -> 09:00 PM) Trading CQ just to open a spot for Dayan is f***ing stupid. We could only hope Dayan is as productive as CQ. Right now, CQ is productive. You want to add Dayan's bat and take out a lousy bat like dunn or Rios. i hope one of these days you realize that the reality of the situation prevents what you think should happen. there are some hard constrictions that the sox have, and they are rios and dunn. and they arent going anywhere.
  12. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 23, 2011 -> 09:41 AM) Yeah that was a great trade. That was the same summer he traded BMac for Danks. One thing KW is really good at, is identifying starting pitching. Oh and you have to give crabby Coop some credit too. Winter
  13. Betemits debut with the tigers, 1 for 4, 3 Ks
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 03:21 PM) Just make sure not to “loose a turn”. EDIT: Kyle, I hope you actually know what he's referring to because it's awesome. i dont, what is it?
  15. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 03:06 PM) According to my "Too soon to complain" chart we are currently at "Wait until the trade deadline" excuse. is that a complimentary gift when you order your "jump to conclusionss" floor mat?
  16. The Sox are always quiet on the tradefront, what is Crasnick talking about. KW always surprises people when stuff happens
  17. obligatory best thread ever declaration waits for steves obligatory photobomb
  18. obligatory "this post is exactly why I dont post anymore, soxtalk is all hyperbole" repeat post
  19. me and a friend actually went over a theoretical mega trade. Fukudome, Soriano, ARam for Dunn, Rios, Morel and cash. It would actually make sense for both teams involved, and the Sox would basically have to send cash to compensate for Rios contract. It would never happen, but it would be fun to see everyone freak out about it
