QUOTE (southsidetony @ May 20, 2010 -> 10:51 AM) Did I say his weight has anything to do with his talent? No. Weight was part of the reason he retired form the Bulls... hence why I want that to happen again. Did he build a great team around Michael? Of course, but I think any chimp working in the front office at that time could have build a decent team around the GOAT. And you can build a dynasty, sure... it's easy when you have MJ. But I'm not denying he did a good job with surrounding Michael, I'm saying he wrecked the Franchise in his final years like it was the Edmund Fitzgerald. That has nothing to do with his ability to scout, but everything to do with him as a human being and as member of an "organization" that prides itself on family (Ozzie, KW, et al). I'm not a fan of the guy, nor am I a fan of Reinsdorf. Apologize for the Jerry's elsewhere. end of discussion. We arent asking him to be a GM, we are asking him to be a scout, which he has excelled at. The end of his NBA tenure really has nothing to do with this at all.

QUOTE (southsidetony @ May 20, 2010 -> 09:02 AM) Krause's superb ability to mesh with players and other management is why the Bulls did so well post-1998 until recently, And why we were able to get rid of scrubs like Jordan, Pippen, Rodzilla, etc. Hopefully he resumes his 90's lifestyle, begins to once again resemble the Michellin man, and retires. Reinsdorf and his nepotistic ways. Except that Krause's history as a baseball scout pre-dates his history as an NBA GM, and he is been pretty successful in both sports, despite the fact that he "resembles the michellin man"(which has nothing to do with his ability to do the job). Last I checked he wasnt going to become the GM, correct? Only director of intl scouting? Im sure Reinsdorf is worried about his ability to mesh with players and management The guy only has 36 years of experience as an MLB scout, so he must be bad because he is fat, right? http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...cout-11.article

QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 20, 2010 -> 08:42 AM) I'd almost look at Arenas playing a Jamal Crawford type of role off the bench long - term if they had a decent enough 2 guard. Probably makes Randy Foye very attainable as well (if he's not a FA). That is quite an expensive 6th man

QUOTE (southsidetony @ May 11, 2010 -> 06:28 PM) ...the beginning of the end. this kind of unbridled enthusiasm and in depth analysis is why Soxtalk is #1

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 20, 2010 -> 07:47 AM) Nix kicked my faith in him in the balls last night. dude kicked everyone in the balls last night. He just happened to use an iron toe shoe for you

word is Lebron ate Alphabet cereal this morning and spelled the word Chicago. Shortly after he also spelled West and Mom, followed by Sad.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 19, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) I think we should have a thread that contains a recap of tonights game entitled, Reasons we can't catch the Twins.. Reason #25. Jayson Nix at 3rd. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 19, 2010 -> 08:02 PM) But the reason we won't: Our starting pitchers can't protect a f***in lead. this would make more sense in green

QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 19, 2010 -> 11:17 PM) So I read somewhere today that Megan Fox isn't going to be in Transformers 3. Heard this rumor before, but I wonder if it's actually true or not. I think it is confirmed now, she gawn QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ May 19, 2010 -> 11:25 PM) Haha! Looks awesomely terrible. Have you seen Dead Snow? I havent, but when I was reading about this movie, I found this funny Probably just going to be a explosion movie with cheesy bad dialogue

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 19, 2010 -> 06:08 PM) Hamilton has unlimited talent, almost. Ethier's a pretty talented player as well, he doesn't run like Barry Bonds with the early 90's Pirates, but he's a pretty nifty player. TWO WEIRD TWINS NUMBERS Morneau with only 2 homers (heel problem, Target playing really big) Only 9 errors committed by the Twins Red Sox will play the Phillies more this season than the Twins...how does that make any sense? Well, with how Boston has been playing, maybe we don't want MIN to play them so much. LOL, same thing in two threads, caught you this time
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 19, 2010 -> 06:32 PM) Reasons to think MINN will come back to us...which also, of course, involve us playing better and the Tigers tanking a bit as well 1) Mauer has a bad heel (lingering problems) and only has 2 homers 2) JJ Hardy is hurt, forcing them to play Punto and Harris more often 3) Jon Rauch 4) Mauer always is a little "touchy" with various injury issues (see 1, had to stretch it out to ten somehow) 5) Liriano is coming back down to earth after starting 4-0 6) Carl Pavano can't really be relied upon for a full season, can he? 7) Nick Punto in the line-up at any time (like our Vizquel/Kotsay) 8) Kubel isn't as good as he has been the last couple of seasons, same with Denard Span 9) They don't have Valentino Pascucci at 1B 10) Because I don't want to be bored the next four months like July-September 2006 and 2007 Ah you changed it. I was about to call you out because you had that as Morneau at first. Mauers game has never been a HR game, he just keeps getting hits. The injury issue is definitely something to keep an eye on ps: you better go to the AL Central thread and change your bad heel comment there too

Angels @ White Sox 5/19/10 Game Thread!

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 19, 2010 -> 05:06 PM) I include radio shows as the radical fringe. What Sunday sports shows? Both also generally tend to be the Mariotti-ish fire everybody, play the backup quarterback, run the offensive coordinator out of town. They are not representative of the regular fan. I think I know somebody in the business said 3 percent of all radio talk show listeners call in. It's like this board. Whoopie. We have the voice of 25 fans on here? How many post regularly? 20 or so who bleed over every pitch. Not even 12,000 to 15,000 which would constitute a bad crowd at the Cell. But if the whole city wants Ozzie fired then I guess the mob mentality wins over. Times certainly have changed quickly when most everybody is happy Beckham is batting ninth. Greg, are you even watching? Beckham has been batting under .200 for about a month now, and he doesnt look any better now than he did before. We are happy he is batting 9th because we want him to get better and return to the 2 hole. And if you think this board is not representative of the regular white sox fan, well I dont know what to tell you. This is a passionate board, both negatively and positively, the problem is that the Sox have done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING this year to warrant any positive spin on the season. And this is coming from a Glass Half Full guy. Get with it Greg, unless the Sox start earning that 100 million dollar payroll, there will be changes. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 19, 2010 -> 12:39 PM) I'll be the Wizards wish they had tried to terminate the contract of Arenas when they had the chance. I think they explored that option and realized it probably wasnt going to be easy, if it was even possible. I bet the players association would fight that tooth and nail

i still am in disbelief that he pulled the "My Manager doesnt know what he is talking about because he never played in the big leagues" card. Totally immature.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 19, 2010 -> 08:56 AM) Celtics/Lakers finals? There's a series I'll skip over. WITNESS

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 19, 2010 -> 08:28 AM) And if Wall winds up being as good as a #1 pick should be, unless there's a top 10 player coming back in return at some point, I think it's all but impossible for them to get fair value for it. agreed. Its a tough spot for the Wizards(which is ironic considering they have the best pick), Wall is going to be a good/great NBA player, but he doesnt really fit their need.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 19, 2010 -> 07:54 AM) In the hypothetical world, you deal Wall for a top of the line front line piece that you can stick in next to Arenas, but really, who's going to give something up like that for an unproven draft pick? Especially since a lot of the really top guys are already free agents this offseason. You're not giving up Dwight Howard for him. If you were the Nuggets would you do Anthony for Wall? I dont know that a proven player would be the return, but i think that the Wizards could def trade down for more picks, or future picks and possibly a solid bench player/starter.
-
I wonder if the Wizards want Wall though, they are already paying Arenas big bucks(that they cannot get out of), and they are similar players. Plus, that would be a pretty small lineup if they had Wall and Arenas starting in the same backcourt.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ May 18, 2010 -> 06:47 PM) Is he still wearing his street clothes or does he actually have wrestling wear? Street clothes, a bunch of WWE merchandise(Hart Hockey Jersey) and jean shorts with knee pads.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 18, 2010 -> 11:54 AM) Charcoal. Figured I should learn how to use that one first, then go ahead and splurge on the ridiculously expensive gas grill when I move to a more permanent job/home. If you are going the ridiculously expensive route later on, you can even get the gas/charcoal hybrid and have the best of both worlds

im watching the gamecast on cbs sports and damn, are those tigers fans talking some serious s***. You would think they wont every title for the past decade

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 15, 2010 -> 10:04 PM) Cooked my first ever meal on my own grill tonight. Just wanted to say that. Did you end up going with gas or charcoal?

i have to wonder what they are gonna do with Bret now. I like him as the Hart Foundation valet, but his matches are nothing more than saves and gang-up beatdowns so he doesnt look as bad as he is now.
