  1. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 08:34 AM) I just can't understand how anyone could pick the Sox to finish in first this year given this team's overperformance last season and the current roster. 4th place, 79 wins. Disappointments: Colon and Contreras don't even equal one starter, Floyd has a major regression, Danks not quite as good, Ramirez not quite as good, Quentin has an off-year recovering, fifth starter hell. Surprises: Brian Anderson finally proves he can do this by hitting .250ish for an entire season, Getz has a good year, Broadway and other minor league arms make major strides after we fall out of contention. Hopefully the Sox finally address having 3 DHs in the lineup this season at some point. Its easy to make your own predictions without ripping on anothers. If you dont think the Sox will do well, thats fine by me.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 08:18 AM) The Pistons do have two games in hand over the Bulls, so they control their own fate at this point. This may be so, but they havent done anything right since AI and Rasheed went down, and barring a miracle return by the both of them, I cannot see them fixing the problem. In fact, I wouldnt be surprised to see the Bobcats steal the 8th spot from the Pistons when all is said and done Good lord, Mike North is ready to give VDN an extension already. And he wonders why he isnt on the AM radio waves anymore
  3. I have the Sox at 91-71 winning the division.
  4. Well, aside from Reggie Miller being a dick, how about them Bulls grabbing the 7 seed tonite? I was looking at the standings(since TNT posted them a minimum 10 times an hour) last night, and the 5 and 6 seeds are not as far fetched as one might think. If the Bulls can capitalize on the final stretch at home and steal a few road games(toronto and indiana), they could sneak a bit higher IMO. Playing at home, they are just a different beast. They really play with a lot of confidence.

    Well Water

QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Mar 26, 2009 -> 12:21 PM) Ya know...thinking about it...my wifes family still lives in Johnsburg and I was just there two nights ago and had water to drink. Again...tasted fine to me. My dad lived on pistakee lake, and his house was over 100 years old. Pipes were old, the wells(there were two) were old, the only thing that was new was the filters, and the sediment blocked those things up in like 3 months. It may have been his situation. It may be the fact that your tastebuds are broken. You choose
  6. QUOTE (Jimmywins1 @ Mar 26, 2009 -> 12:49 PM) Meant to say "didn't", but his 1 year in the majors came when his body was already filled in, expecting him to gain durability as he gets closer to thirty is just silly. The thought that he is not able to gain stamina and durability is silly. The kid is gonna play plenty, and I think he is going to have a much more complete year.
  7. QUOTE (Jimmywins1 @ Mar 26, 2009 -> 12:40 PM) They're different players than Alexei, they just had the durability to do it, he doesn't. LOL, and how do you know this based on his 1 year in the majors?
  8. QUOTE (Jimmywins1 @ Mar 26, 2009 -> 12:10 PM) Because 27 year olds that wear down in September after only 135 games (only about 120 were starts) probably aren't going to get more durable, especially when they're moving to a more demanding defensive position. Alexei wasn't a typical rookie last year, he is in his prime right now. So how was Ichiro able to adjust? Or Nomo? Or college players like Texeira who pretty much played right away? or players like Pujols who jumped from college to A ball to the majors? It is a flawed argument, Im pretty sure Alexei will be able to manage his stamina just like the rest of the league learned to do

    LOST!!!!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 26, 2009 -> 12:08 PM) I just had a thought... in keeping with the linear time line, is it possible that Sayid's shooting of Ben in the "past" is what serves as the trigger for turning him into an evil pyshcopath in the "present"? thats kind of what I was getting at with my "bitterness" post. He is going to grow up knowing these people, then see them again later in life. Ben knows his motives, and he knows how to get what he wants. They stressed the "be patient" quote

  11. QUOTE (rangercal @ Mar 26, 2009 -> 11:49 AM) We just signed a Right tackle (kevin shaffer) yesterday, Chris Williams , Kruetz,Garza and Beekman. Not the best OL in the world, but I bet it will be better than last year. Plus they still have that guy they traded for last year(Buenning), and Omiyale. The line will be quite different this year, no doubt.

    Well Water

My dad lived in Johnsburg(McHenry) and had wellwater. When his filter was working(it clogged a whole bunch because of the sediment) it was fine. You could tell the water was super filtered and had a weird "soft" taste to it, but it was drinkable. Without the filter, it was like drinking something with grit and the smell of rotten eggs. It was really bad

    LOST!!!!

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 26, 2009 -> 10:15 AM) The action that just occurred obviously happened to big Ben in his past. He's been shot. Whoopteedoo. One thing I've learned is that you can never trust that someone is dead on Lost. However, to dispute a previous post (KYLE!)... people do die on the island (see Mr. Ecko, Charlie, Boone, Anna Lucia, Shannon, Ethan, Russeau, Libby, etc etc). This does not mean Ben is dead, though. Tiny Ben will be alive, though they will make us believe he's not, and eventually we'll see that, duh, if Big Ben is still kickin', then Tiny Ben sure didn't die. Some have, some people seem to die and come back later(that russian guy comes to mind, cant remember his name, with the scarred face. dude was shot, blown up, etc and kept coming back for more) I know people have died, but the island seems to have something going on in regards to a fountain of youth and long life spans that arent really explained

    LOST!!!!

Maybe nobody ever dies on the island, thus Ben survives and has quite a bit of bitterness in him growing up

  17. QUOTE (Jimmywins1 @ Mar 26, 2009 -> 05:14 AM) Alexei wore down in September after playing 135ish games last year, he isn't going to be able to play 150+ games a season and stay productive. Really? He will never be able to adjust to the MLB schedule? Why is that?

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Mar 26, 2009 -> 03:59 AM) Just watched Slumdog Millionaire. Didn't really know much about it going in (other than a very basic premise), and I thought it was a very good movie. That main actress is hot. Rumored to be the next Bond girl

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 07:52 PM) The book is a bit creepy, in a weird way. So depending on treatment, the movie could indeed be terrifying for kids. I hope that isn't the case - I saw a lot of people bring kids to Pan's Labrynth, thinking it was a children's story. Yow. Wow, I could imagine a lot of covered eyes and post movie nightmares for kids 10 and under seeing that movie.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 05:45 PM) It looks terrifying. LOL, thats not what she just said after we watched the trailer. She just told me "I know that book, its about the kid who imagines things". Thats funny that you say that though, because the film was redone after a test screening went bad and kids started screaming and stuff.
  21. I hope everything works out for you and your parents.
