  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 09:11 AM) Any talk yet about the Obama administration having to decide what to do with the 16 year old boy who could be facing life in prison, or even the death penalty for his role as a pirate and kidnapper? I was reading something on CNN where they were saying the kid was almost excited to come to the US because he wouldnt be fighting for food anymore and he would have a place to live(jail).

    QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 08:37 PM) All I want to see is Tool Such a great show. I will never forget them closing out Lolla 97 at the World/Tweeter Center/whatever it is called now. Korn cancelled because Munky got meningitis and Tool got the extra time. Maynard blew me away, the guy has such a great presence on stage
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 07:11 AM) What will happen if he starts swinging at pitcher's pitches the first pitch is everyone complaining that he takes pitches out of the strike zone now will start complaining that he swings at everything. That's pretty much guaranteed. He has a long swing right now, there's no question. Supposedly its really short in BP but he hasn't been able to bring it to the game. Once that happens, if that happens, the term "BA fanboy" will go away. please god, let that happen. Just so I dont have to look at the fanboy/hunny posts

    QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 05:13 PM) Which means she has more talent than you think, because she's nothing like that in real life... LOL. Ok.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 03:17 PM) Did you really think I could resist? Not a chance
  10. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 05:20 PM) I wasn't aware of that. Makes no sense at all. Oh yeah, my wife has come home crying a few times when this stuff happened to her. Basically as you are ordering food and drinks the waitresses are "paying" for the food and drinks in the computer. When you pay your bill, you are paying what they have fronted for you. When you dine and dash, that food comes out of their tips when they cash out at the end of the night and the drawers are counted out.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) Doesn't work that way. What you need to do is keep him away from the polar, ice-covered regions. He could be a weapon up there. LOL, even an obvious joke is corrected by Balta

    QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 02:27 PM) First possibly official reviews I've seen, UK Daily Mail goes 5 stars for Star Trek. UK Times also loved it. But the uniforms are bad! That means its gonna suck!

    QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 01:31 PM) Unless I can get tickets cheaper, I'll be skipping Lolla this year. Get a daypass for the day you really want to be there. Unless you want to see it all, in that case you are SOL
  15. I think there is really no way the Celtics pull this out. They have looked sluggish, disinterested, and it took everything they had to win 1 game when they should have won both. The Bulls are going to hold home court and I dont think it comes back to Chicago after game 5
  16. who takes his place?
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 12:13 PM) Kyle, I think you need to see Sunshine Cleaning...that will brighten up your day. Why, is that about Latin ballplayers in cold weather? QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 12:18 PM) What does this have to do with anything? Adam Dunn struck out 195 times in 568 at bats in 2004. Does that mean he was the worst hitter of anyone with 568+ at bats in 2004? That is just ridiculous logic (having nothing to do with the topic aside) You should see Sunshine cleaning too.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 11:42 AM) Yeah, I half-expected them to call the cops right there, but they were cool about it. I still feel like an assbag, but less of one now. Did you leave a nice tip?
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 12:07 PM) Here's a statistic for you. AT-BATS where the count reaches 2 strikes (0-2, 1-2, 2-2, 3-2)....performance from 2006-2008. Brian Anderson 142 K's/253 chances=57% chance of a strikeout Josh Fields 142 K's/233 chances=61% chance of a strikeout Does that mean that Brian Anderson is a better hitter than Josh Fields? and this has what to do with Latin players not performing in cold weather? PS. you love to overreact from small sample sizes
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 11:43 AM) I think it is that it can not be disproved either Not according to the article that someone wrote, somewhere, at sometime
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 11:31 AM) 1) First you'd have to isolate all those players like Pujols who essentially grew up in Kansas City (Ft. Osage, to be exact) from the Hispanic players that live in the US year-round and then those who live in the Caribbean, Panama, Mexico, Venezuela, etc. 2) Then you'd have to throw out those players who played Winter Ball, because someone would make an argument they were more "tired" or not "fresh" coming into the season. 3) Then you'd have to look at those games that started in April and May with a temperature below 40 degrees...or 50 degrees...or with a wind chill factor of X amount, etc. 4) Then you'd have to look at the baseline for all players in those games and compare... So it could be proven, but in the same way UZR or Zone Rating determines a player's defensive effectiveness, it wouldn't be pristine or perfect in any sense. So now that you have proved that your point cannot truly be proved, what is your point?

  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 08:52 AM) But Contreras became dominant in 2005 when it was really hot in late July, August and September... You think "cold weather" has only an affect on baseball players? Why aren't other sports relevant? No, YOU said it has an affect on Latin players. So try and stay on the subject and quit using other sports as basis for your argument, especially a sport where latin players are an extremely small minority
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 08:38 AM) I'm sure someone has done a study...and that there is some statistical validity to the fact that players who come out of Latin America struggle more in the early months. Do you think it's coincidence Ramirez has looked atrocious in both April 08 and April 09? That Viciedo is struggling? Both hit well in spring training...at least pretty good, and much better than now. Why does Contreras pitch much better in the heat of the summer? Are all of these complete coincidences lacking in statistical validity? Why do "warm weather" or Dome teams do poorly in Green Bay or Chicago in December or January? I seem to remember Contreras starting off the year last year pretty damn good. I also remember him being named the number 1 pitcher in the playoffs/World series in 2005, where it was particularly cold and rainy. why are you talking about Football? stay on the subject
