QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 10:27 AM) apparently he was on the score this morning, but i didn't hear it. Interesting b/c mully and hanley have ripped him on the air before. No way, they both have said they dont have a problem with him. I listened to them the morning he was fired -

http://newsblogs.chicagotribune.com/towert...ariotti-jo.html Interesting that he doesnt mention the White Sox, with whom he had probably the worst working relationship -
QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 08:58 AM) LOL. How the hell did you find out that even existed? It was on that goofy picture someone posted in the chisoxfn thread of some guy protesting circumcision because it causes brain damage

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 08:33 AM) My thoughts on "The Wrestler" are pretty much in line with the comments people have made in here. Rourke nailed it but the movie itself was just a 'B'. How about Jack Skellington playing Rourkes daughter? How did that work out?

how can the Twins have the money for 6 (or 7)
Kyyle23 replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 07:49 AM) I guess, in a backwards way, I'm saying how is it that the Twins can corner the market on starters and we only have 3 (maybe 4) of them? We're acting like a true small market club this offseason, hopefully something changes in the next month. Because last year they traded their stars for kids and also brought up their own kids. In other words, the Twins did last year what we are all b****ing about the White Sox doing this year, giving their young pitchers a shot. They didnt corner the market on anything, they arent buying pitching like the Yankees QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 04:37 AM) I guess the Braves are the fourth team that's interested. Seems strange that so many teams are shying away from Ben Sheets, and yet the Braves and Yankees were willing to sign AJ Burnett for $80 million, and he's just as big an injury risk. While burnett is an injury risk, Sheets hasnt been able to stay healthy for an entire year. At least AJ accomplished that last year. It may not mean much, but it means something -
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 11:25 PM) Well... looks like I won't have to quit afterall.. Everything did work in my favor. (for the most part) Hopefully in a month or so I will have a deal on an apartment done. Im sure your mom is thrilled

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 06:38 AM) But those guys were brought on for positions where there are/were obvious holes. The Twins' rotation already has five starters, sixth if you count Bonser, and I'm sure he'll get another opportunity to start somewhere (like Lohse did) before all is said and done. Why would they need another starter if they already have Liriano, Baker, Slowey, Blackburn and Perkins? It doesn't make much sense. Maybe they're looking for some veteran leadership in the rotation w/ Hernandez, Santana and Radke gone, but their pen is loaded with lefties, and Blackburn doesn't profile as an 8th inning set-up guy for Nathan, so the only thing that would make sense would be trading Perkins as part of a deal for Beltre/Atkins/Kouzmanoff...someone like that. Is it really a problem to have too many starters? -

The last week I have been getting incredibly bad 80's movie soundtrack songs stuck in my head. I mean terribly, horribly, no-good really really bad songs stuck in my head. Yesterday? "She's like the Wind" Dirty Dancing. Thank you wife for watching Dirty Dancing on Encore. I really appreciated that. Now? Not so bad, but I have the Ghostbusters theme in my head. And it wont go away

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 11:49 AM) I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed on tuesday and am not looking forward to it...at all. I had it done when i was about 16, I was knocked out and when I woke up it was done, and that was the best way for me to do it. People tell me about being awake through the procedure, thats not for me. If I could be knocked out for every dental procedure I would be a happy camper. Its strange, some people are out of commission for a few days, bruising and swelling, other people go right back to work with no loss of time.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 11:47 AM) Shoot, they'd double the ticket prices that game just to pay AC/DC. I would pay it.

How about an AC/DC night where the band plays Thunderstruck on the centerfield grandstand live for the game warmup, then has a concert after the game in the same place

I am trying to beat the LEGO Batman game. So much back and forth, so many little things to do to beat the game. It isnt hard at all, but I am definitely having fun finding everything. After this game, Im going to get the Star Wars and Indiana Jones games and beat them as well

QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 05:50 PM) Awful. http://deadspin.com/5122846/meet-your-new-...t--jay-mariotti LOL, kinda funny though. You gotta wonder why the major sports media outlets passed on him(ESPN, SI, FOX, CBS) and he is writing for AOL now. -
QUOTE (TheBlackSox8 @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 01:27 PM) the movie Dinosaur did that. Real locations with animated creatures. from IMDB:The backgrounds in the movie are actually superimposed(pictures over pictures, making a scene look more than it is) photos of exotic tropical locations such as Tahiti and Hawaii. Right, I knew there has been a few of those movies already. Monsters vs Aliens looks good though, the preview is funny

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 03:15 AM) Unless something drastically happens in the next three days, (and by that I mean if everything goes right) I will have to quit my job and move back in with my mom... maybe if you didnt have such a pinched face these things wouldnt happen. are in you danger of being laid off then?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 08:27 AM) Well, it's the next stage, like Matrix was the first....but there's always something a little bit disconcerting about lifelike 3D cartoon animation with human beings...what was the movie that tried that, it was a science fiction movie? Wait, do you think this is like the Star Wars prequels with real people interacting with cartoon characters? I think this is the type of movie that has real backgrounds, but the entire cast and a good portion of the "set" is animated.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 05:48 AM) Phillip Pullman's Golden Compass trilogy, it was supposed to be followed up by His Dark Materials, I guess the atheistic crowd/dark appeal isn't quite what it used to be for young children, lol. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0892782/ Monsters vs. Aliens (not to be confused w. S. Weaver) 3D, the first new wave hit of the future of film-making this year You make it sound new and revolutionary, its gonna be a good movie, but it isnt reinventing the wheel

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 08:45 PM) Well, I think the thing with Chad is he was a great QB until he blew out his arm. Combine that with the suckiness of those Jets teams and you get a bad Chad Pennington. As for Eli, I think he's a franchise QB in the making, but he hasn't lived up to the hype and I don't think he ever will. Most guys don't. Hell, Brandon Clausen was supposed to dominate college and he's sucked IMO. Jimmy?

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 07:45 PM) I was on a forum somewhere a little while ago reading, there were New Yorkers b****ing and whatnot. I was like come on, you guys f***ing have everything, damn. Every movie is set in either New York or L.A., let us have our moments. Exactly. I dont mind Gotham being connected with Chicago one bit. New York has Spiderman, and Metropolis is more or less New York, so Superman as well.
-
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 07:40 PM) Whenever it's been talked about, it's always just seemed to be New York by default, and Metropolis was sort of a hybrid of Chicago and New York. But in these Batman movies there is no denying it, the streets, the downtown, the buses, architecture, and some of the skyline (although not the landmark parts with the buildings everybody knows). Good. F*** New York.
