Southern is going to have some serious growing pains this year, no doubt. Especially now that Nick Evans is rumored to have broken his wrist(hasnt been completely confirmed yet). I dont mind watching them grow, this year they are gonna feel out their strengths, the next two years they will take off. I think they are gonna have some exceptional games that are gonna be followed up by some stinkers, but I think the overall talent of the team is going to show in late January through February -
Sox make offer to free agent pitcher Odalis Perez

A couple scenarios could develop should he accept Should Vazquez get traded, I really dont see Richard or Poreda doing anything but relieving, and I would expect a move either for another righty, or Marquez gets the job handed to him. It should be interesting to see how this develops -

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 03:25 PM) Forte is a rookie out of a C-USA school. He's averaging 4 ypc, and right now, he's one of the best receiving RB's. He can block pretty well too, and I noticed one play in the game yesterday when an Orton pass was deflected up in the air, and instead of watching, Forte ran and knocked it down. He is a good RB right now with great instincts. Are we writing player descriptions? Oooooh Oooooh, im next Brandon Lloyd is a wide reciever out of a Big Ten School. He is averaging 3 injuries a game and 4 injury inactive stints per season. He can't(read, won't) block, isnt fast, and while he CAN catch, he doesnt do it much because he is always hurt. -
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) A big-ass interstellar space ship spit the Great Pyramid out, everybody knows that. I thought that the pyramids were built as Xenomorph breeding tanks/battle grounds? whoops, wrong Sci-Fi movie

QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 01:12 PM) So today I went to lunch with a friend who I haven't seen for quite a while since she's been overseas. Now she's about 4 months pregnant... and holy s*** are her boobs ever huge now, I couldn't stop looking. She thought it was funny and didn't care. Wow, thats not how I thought this paragraph was gonna end. lol

I thought MacDougal was outrighted? If he isnt worth anything to the Sox, I dont think that he would be worth much to anyone else in trade value. So all this "toss in a Macdougal" talk doesnt make much sense to me

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 09:31 AM) I need to go see an ophthalmologist today after rolling my eyes for 48 cumulative minutes during the movie. It just seemed like a made for tv movie geared towards 13-17 year old girls. Was a bit difficult for me to connect. Did they really give a standing O?

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 09:17 AM) I got some really chapped lips over the weekend thanks to freezing temperatures in Boston. Anyone know of a good cure? Vitamin E gel, or medicated lip balm. Vitamin E gel is expensive, but it works quick

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 09:17 AM) Went to see "Twilight" with my daughter yesterday. Painful. Luckily I was able to access my fantasy football scored on my blackberry. Ha, my brother in law took my 13 year old niece to see it and she was just bubbling over with praise, "it was the best movie ever", "there was a standing ovation before and after the movie" LOL, my BIL didnt seem as impressed as she did.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 08:03 AM) You said animals have no rights, kid basically have no rights either. you know what, I dont even want to start this semantics argument. It isnt the same, and we both know it, but I dont want to argue it.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 07:36 AM) The child welfare system in this country isn't any different. It is a daily occurence where kids get neglected or abused by partents who are drug addicts, who get them back after saying they will take better care of them, feed them etc. Isnt any different? Or shows some of the same characteristics?

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 04:06 PM) Update: I went and bought Advil Sinus on a recommendation. (They scanned my ID because you can make Meth with it. ) Also, I got one of these: Magic. Pure and simple Elfin Magic. Inhale this twice in each nostril every two hours, no stuffy nose. Awesome. The only time I have ever touched that Vicks stuff is when in college when some friends ran across some X. dont ask if you dont know, I dont even want to explain how stupid the vicks inhaler was

QUOTE (rangercal @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 09:23 AM) I agree with you in a sense.Though, I am against torturing as a whole , I believe we in America put dogs at such a high pedestal that sometimes dogs have more rights than human beings, which is ridiculous. They are animals and should not have more rights than a human being. If someone with a sick taste of food killed a dog for food, I would not have a problem with it. However, most Americans would. To me, a dog should have no more rights than a cow or a pig. See, thats just not right, dogs dont have more rights. If Michael Vick did something to a person that equated to what he did to those dogs, he would be on death row. Every night Animal Planet reruns Animal Cops and Animal Precinct, all you have to do is watch 1 show and you know that dogs and cats dont have anywhere near the same rights as people, people will damn near starve a dog to death and can have the dog returned to them if they promise to feed it and take better care of it. And I would like to state that i dont believe Dogs and Cats should have equal rights to people, but I do believe there should be laws designed to protect dogs and cats from people who abuse them.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 12:01 PM) Well, I'm a pretty firm believer in the death penalty. I think it should be used much more than it is. So, that's where I'm coming from when I say these guys, too, should be on death row. In regards to the bold part, who the hell hunts pigs? Ha, unless you mean a wild boar or something. I think Pig hunting is a big deal in the south. Most "Wild" boars are escaped pigs that have gone feral. A few years ago that Hogzilla was an escaped pig that ended up on a reserve for Boar hunting

QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 07:44 PM) The funny thing is there just so happened to be an off duty police officer that seen it happen and he came to make sure I was ok than he went looking for the guy.He found the pickup a few blocks down but who ever was in it fled.I imagine they are going to get back to me on it,if not the police my insurance company is gonna hunt the guy down. Not really sure yet if Iam going to get royaly screwed out of this whole deal or not. Hopefully whoever you hit didnt steal the pickup and get away with ditching it after the accident.

QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 03:40 AM) See thats where I think the logic is very flawed, how is the value of a dog any better than that of a deer or rabbit etc. Yes, dogs are household pets but they really are no different intelligent wise than any other mammal. The difference isnt the value of the animal to people. The difference is the actual torture of the animal involved, or rather two animals involved/ People dont walk into the woods and blast away as many deer as they can, they pay for their license to hunt one animal, and they try and make sure that the animal goes down as quick as possible, then the animal is butchered and consumed. A fighting dog is raised to destroy or be destroyed. There is no consumption, there is no attempt to minimize suffering, and there is a concerted effort to watch and enjoy the torture of two dogs. Plus, there are family "tame" dogs, cats, wild caught animals that are thrown in with these attack dogs to train them to be aggressive at all times. Heck, Vick even used a miniature horse to train his dogs to attack. The mindset is so completely different it isnt even an argument. I have no problem saying that people who engage in these activities need to see jailtime. Lack of compassion in scenarios like dogfights makes you wonder what dogfighting people actually have compassion for.
