I heard excerpts of the second half of the Favre interview on the way to work today. Favre burned that bridge to the ground, and p*ssed on the ashes.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 09:48 PM) Carlos with the number 10 webgem of the first half. I didnt see it, was it the play where he threw out a runner at first after a catch in left? I dont remember which team he did that against, but it was awesome

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 01:53 AM) No. We're talking about Konerko here. Uribe is not Konerko. As far as my kids' comment ... me and my 10 year old are at the Cell. Paulie pops up, "Boo! Boo!" I yell. "Daddy ... isn't that Paulie you are booing? The guy who made us so happy when we won the World Series? The guy who's hit all those career home runs for us?" "Yep, son, he is a bum. He stinks in '08 so daddy is going to boo him." No, we are talking about you making excuses for Konerko because of his place in White Sox lore, and absolving him from criticism because of it, and in the same sentence saying that Uribe has no place in White Sox lore because he sucks. Uribe strikes out at a head high fastball "Boo! Boo!" I yell "Daddy, isnt that Uribe you are booing? The guy who made us so happy when we won the world series when he dove into the stands to make an out, and when he made the final out of game 4 in the world series? The guy who carried a .400 average for 2 months in 2004? The guy who is on the World Series memorial outside the park?" "Yes son, you see, he is hitting below .200 right now. Thats really unacceptable. The Major Leagues have standards that players are held to, and sometimes when they fail to live up to those standards, I will boo them. Im not saying you have to, but if you feel the need to, Im not going to tell you that you are wrong."

Was Jenks DL stint retroactive, or is he going to have to wait a few games to rejoin the team?

QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 05:24 PM) Pettitte has been contrite and as far as is publicly known only juiced to get better from injuries. That, more than what Barry Bonds did -- taking everything to double your size and strength -- is going to gain all sorts of leniency over time. And frankly, it's understandable that someone might try to recover a little quicker with the juice, especially for ballplayers who won't want to be hypocrites. So he says, he also said he got them from his father. And Clemens said he never took them. But Kirk Radomski is now coming out with reciepts that show he gave HGH to McNamee for both Clemens and Petitte. And Bonds still insists he only took flaxseed oil. So who should we believe? Maybe Pettitte didnt want to grow stronger, he just wanted to increase his stamina over the year. Who knows why he took them, maybe he was just an athlete trying to gain a competitive edge. Im not going to take his public apology at complete face value and discount the fact that he took HGH because he said he did it just for a little while and realized it was bad. He knew it was bad from the get go.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 06:28 PM) I am the chat equivalent of Alexei Ramirez? hey now, lets walk before we run

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 05:40 PM) I do not personally condone booing Paulie, but if it happened it would be neither unprecedented nor shocking. Players get booed all the time and it doesn't usually happen for no reason, we just happen to have a longer grace period than somewhere like New York. Nowhere in anything I have posted did I say I was going to, or have booed Konerko. I just am trying to figure out how anyone is considered a jackass who has no PERSPECTIVE and doesnt understand tradition just because they boo Konerko for being unproductive. Alex Rodriguez gets booed all the time and he puts up MVP numbers every season. Nobody is immune.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 04:08 PM) I stand by my statement. Any true White Sox fan that boos Paulie is a jackass. He is somebody with no clue about PERSPECTIVE. I'd love to hear some more takes on this. I will never change my mind about this one. Be a tough guy and boo Paulie; by doing so you have proven you know nothing about White Sox tradition. Tell me about this no-booing tradition. I would love to learn about this PERSPECTIVE. At what point does any player, regardless of performance, become a player who is not allowed to be booed.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 03:48 PM) I don't know if they kick people out when they grab balls that are close to them. This was in the outfield nowhere near the outfielder's glove. The guy simply dove out of the way as the ball kicked up high. Had he grabbed it, I seriously doubt he'd have been ejected. If you interfere with a ball in play, you are automatically ejected from any park in the major leagues. If the ball ends up being a ground rule double because you reached into the field to grab a ball, no matter if it is near a glove or not, it is interference.

QUOTE (earthshiner @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 12:26 PM) I noticed it too. That was great. He is a true fan of the game. I have seen a few fans over the years throw their arms out trying to block people from reaching but not often enough. eh, maybe he just didnt feel like being the jack*ss who got ejected from the allstar game for interference

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 10:37 PM) wii speak would be great. it's so frustrating to play friends on mario kart wii and never be able to talk trash. i'm interested with this motion plus thing. i never really noticed that the original remotes were all that bad. Me neither. In fact, I was really surprised at the response while playing Mariokart. Im wondering why Wii Music was listed under Negaton. All the reviews I was reading had good things to say about it (88 instruments available, using the balance board as drums, etc) I want to see some of the new games coming up in the next couple of days

QUOTE (YASNY @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 08:58 AM) yeah ... that wasn't pretty at all. Poor guy had a tough night on the national stage. I felt bad for him, he was playing on a sprained ankle. Im sure his lateral movement was killing him while fielding

Im not clicking that, you are probably trying to rickroll me

QUOTE (YASNY @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 06:12 AM) Carlos had a few chances to be the hero, but didn't get it done. Hey, at least he wasnt Dan Uggla

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 02:27 AM) It's easy to understand your frustration with Paulie. And obviously I exaggerated saying booing paulie would be worst moment in Sox history. It would be a disgrace, however, and show everything that's wrong with modern fans and sports. What have you done for me lately, Paulie? It would be an utter disgrace and if the fans booed him should be ripped from coast to coast. No. It would just be another player getting booed for lack of performance. There is nothing else to it. Fans have been booing players since the game was invented, its just the way it is. There is no significance in Paul Konerko getting booed. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 02:27 AM) But you have to think before you say stupid stuff. you roll this one out after saying it would be the lowest point of the franchise if Paul Konerko got booed, and the fans should be ripped for booing him?

Hey GT, do you think the new wii motionsensor only works with games designed to use that? Or does it just increase overall sensitivity on any game? I was just thinking that you can use that for the Wii Wheel, it wont fit in the mold

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 07:09 PM) All star edition. None of you have anything better to do, anyways. Admit it. People just don't like you. i hate when you are right

QUOTE (Harvin4Heisman @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 01:54 PM) This is almost impossible. Do you guys remember what it took to get Swisher? MacDougal? It would take more than that COMBINED to get a Cy Young candidate mid-season!!!!!!! I'm not saying it can't happen, but sometimes we overrate our prospects, and when you have the worst farm system in all of baseball, you just can't trade everything you have left. It's like suicide for the next 5 years. JD is only under contract for a couple of years, PK is falling off the face of the earth, Crede/Thome/OC will be gone next year. And Javy and Contreras will be gone in two years. You have to think about the future also, not just the present. If we through all of our prospects into this deal, we will be lauding KW now but ripping him in the future. All I'm saying is we simply don't have the bullets to win now and not throw away our future. We dont have the bullets to win now? Arent the Sox in 1st place? And it isnt worth going for it all by trading some prospects? Why would this be suicide for the next 5 years?
-
Are trades generally avoided during the break? Has there ever been an all star traded over the break? Just curious
-
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 12:13 PM) PLEASE POST A STICKY THAT KONERKO (10/5) and THOME (CLAUSE) CAN NOT BE TRADED WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT AND THERFORE SHOULD NOT BE PART OF ANY SCENARIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you honestly think that people would care about that sticky? That same rhetoric has been repeated for weeks, and it hasnt made a damn bit of difference. Some people want them gone, and they will continue to throw them into scenarios until the trade deadline is up

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 12:10 PM) Yes but thats a bush way of retaliation. I have no problem with a pitcher throwing a hitter if its low and justified. I didnt witness what happened in Texas, i'm just trying to point out that just b/c someone says they need to hit so and so, that doesnt mean they have to go after his head. And frankly, any pitcher who does head hunt I lose a bit of respect for. Ok, why does Ian Kinsler need to take a beanball, on the body, because some pitcher couldnt handle Ozzie Guillen talking smack? Where is the justification?

QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 10:11 AM) Its not soo much the money, its the commitment. He will never be the Garcia from 05' again and I dont want to see him in the rotation. We dodged the bullet once already with him, lets not get in front of the gun again. Why is the commitment foolish? Garcia is going to want to prove himself with a 1 year deal. If the Sox get something out of him, great, it not, he fools around in AAA for the last half of the year and he is out. The Sox arent gonna sign him and just plug him into the rotation from the getgo

QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 08:44 AM) Iam still happy we got rid of him when we did.It would be foolish to bring him back. Why would it be foolish? Low risk, High reward. It isnt as if he is angling for a huge contract
