  1. WTF, how many different lineups will be posted today
  2. So now that Ramirez is starting again, are we still subject to "Told you so!"?
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 15, 2008 -> 12:50 PM) Carlito sucks. They could fire him. I wouldn't care. If he hasn't gotten over consistently yet, he never will, with the pushes they gave him. What pushes were those?
  4. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Jun 15, 2008 -> 10:24 AM) I think last night was just one of those games, right? And given what happened against a s*** Rockies pitcher, maybe the debacle in Detroit wasn't all due to the great Tigers pitching like some people here tried to argue? But people will jump down your throat when you dare suggest the Sox are "back to normal." Because, god knows, a team getting hot for a couple games is a much better indicator of their hitting ability than the previous 2 months of the season. As opposed to people jumping down your throat everytime something bad happens insisting "the sky is falling". Some of us arent all doom and gloom and like to think that there is a shot to win the division. Sorry to ruin your fun.

    Films Thread

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 08:14 PM) So, I'm sitting here listening to my ipod, and the Ghostbusters theme comes on. And it gets me to thinking, they're making all these sequels and remakes now. Why not make a third installment of this franchise? Give it a nice little wrap up, but leave out new characters and just run with the main characters (they're all still alive). I mean, I don't want to see Shia LaBeouf as Egon's son, but I'd like another Ghostbusters movie. They have tried multiple times to make a sequel, actually two sequels filmed back to back, but Bill Murray wont cooperate, he hasnt been interested. I guess the company that owns the rights is trying the roundabout way to find out if people are still interested. A videogame is being developed right now(I believe by Xbox, either that or PS3), and a new cartoon is being developed as well. If both of those do well I bet we see a movie within the next 5 years. edit: looks like the game is going for all of the systems http://www.ghostbustersgame.com/
  7. aaaaaaand..............lets play ball!
  8. QUOTE (VAfan @ Jun 13, 2008 -> 10:46 PM) I haven't seen a single response on here defend Pablo Ozuna. It seems to me that you have to do so, or come up with some alternative that's better than Josh Fields as his replacement. There is a place for Josh Fields in this lineup 3-4 games a week, or as a pinch hitter for interleague road games. He'd offer something that Pablo Ozuna cannot: better hitting, much better power, better defense at 3B. My defense is that if you DFA Ozuna then you have a weak bench in regards to the middle infield. Uribe has already been on the DL once, if something were to happen again then there would be no rest for Ramirez and Cabrera. And god forbid something should happen to either of those two, then there are truly no options for the middle infield. Pablo Ozuna has too much versatility to just dump for a guy who can play 3rd and maybe 1st.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 13, 2008 -> 10:54 PM) Just say no to Lofton. Go with what we have or look elsewhere. Anderson really isn't a bad option if Swish continues to struggle. Swish has cooled off again. One for his last 12 after going 8 for 14 vs. Minn's s***ty pitchers. Isnt this what the entire team did?
  10. is it me or does it seem like every time an athlete is pulled over he is driving on a suspended license?
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2008 -> 11:05 AM) Quick 123 first inning for Roberts. I dunno, I actually prefer Alexei in the 2 hole to Anderson on these days the way they're both hitting, and I like Anderson. Rogers?
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 01:17 PM) Trying awful hard to remake this team, aren't you? Its broken. And needs to be fixed with multiple posts.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 10, 2008 -> 11:10 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-b...p&type=lgns I have a hard time believing the source, as Donaghy is a bad guy and a convicted felon. However, when you consider the series being referred to here, it's hard not to believe him. Game 6 between LA and Sacramento in 2002 was the most obvious looking fix I've ever seen in major American sports, and it's not even close to whatever game i'd put in 2nd place on that dubious list. And the other series mentioned, Dallas/Houston in 2005, had some AWFUL officiating as well. This would be easy to lie about for Donaghy as people have suspected stuff like this in the NBA since the frozen/bent envelope gave the Knicks Patrick Ewing, but the series referred to in this story were fishy looking at the time to say the least. Already convicted? I thought the case hasnt even started yet? I agree that he is a bad source, but right now he is the only source. I still remember Mike Bibby taking an Kobe elbow to the face and getting a foul called on him
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 10, 2008 -> 10:19 AM) Was I jaded during the Bulls dynasty? Did he cry about refs this much back then? Am I missing something? Oh yeah he did. Thats Phils deal, he cries about the refs all the time, he did it when the Bulls had him definitely. He was called out for it repeatedly when the Hack a shaq defense came to be, because of how hypocritical it was of him to foul the other teams best player and complain about his own best player getting fouled.
  15. QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Jun 10, 2008 -> 04:41 AM) I agree with your answer, but the Sox offense was a big aide to him putting together a decent game. We left 40 runners on base in the first three innings. I cannot disagree with that either
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 10, 2008 -> 07:38 AM) Actually, the Sun Times (and most other major papers) are currently under huge pressure to cut costs. If the ST thinks they can bring in readers with the rest of their sports team just as well as with Mariotti, then his high salary makes it that much more likely that they can his ass. Mariotti is just auditioning for the New York Post. Hopefully they can his ass sooner rather than later
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 09:20 PM) Who's worse, Zito or Willis? Willis by far. Zito can still put together a decent game (see: White Sox). Dontrelle has totally lost it. He cannot throw a strike to save his life.
  18. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 08:38 PM) Yeah, we'll just trade Danks and hope Coop can work his magic on a washed up Loiaza. What a moron. we trade the up and coming Danks for the disaster that is Ian Kennedy. Makes perfect sense.
  19. QUOTE (gosox41 @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 08:20 PM) I wonder what pix Marriotti has of his editor where the editor lets Jay Mo rip on fellow colleagues but not vice versa. im pretty sure he makes the most money there, therefore he gets to stomp his foot and do what he wants. and he abuses it
  20. Mariotti isnt going to let this one die. I bet he harps on this until either Telander or Mariotti leaves town.
  21. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) Maybe Travis Henry? I dont want my team to be paying his child support checks
  22. I cant even remember the last time I felt that this offense could come back at any time. What a great comeback win, Swisher is really snapping out of his funk. Konerko might not look good every at bat, but he certainly looked good in the one at bat that counted
  23. QUOTE (The Beast @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 02:25 PM) Fair enough, I just think that some sort of position should have been given to the greatest player who ever lived. That's all. A meet and greet face position would be perfect for Jordan. Im very glad that he wasnt able to do anything to the Bulls similar to what he did with the Wizards. Someone wrote a book on his time with the Wizards, talked about how much he hated the business aspect of his job, being at a desk, actually working. He just wanted to hang out for a bit and flash his smile and leave on a jet. Any way you spin it, Jerry Krause totally messed up the dismantling of the dynasty. He got little to no worth out of the players who helped him win, his drafts were absolutely atrocious, and the after effect scared off free agents for years.
