No mention of Ebert?
I feel awful for what has happened to him. The guy gave a new name to "complications after the surgery". He is really lucky to be alive, but I dont know if he views it that way. He has had his jawbone removed, excessive bleeding, a stroke. He has made his living giving his opinion, and now he can barely speak. It is inspirational that he is still alive, but a really unfortunate sequence of events.

QUOTE(Texsox @ May 1, 2007 -> 11:51 AM) Since we are a rather self selecting sample (sports junkies) I shouldn't have been surprised with the early results. I wonder what the average fans would say? I dont know, maybe you should post this poll on WSI and find out? i keed i keed

Is holding Kobe to 4 points ever going to be an option? Honestly, if you can hold down the opposing teams leading scorer to under his average, you have a good chance of winning any game, regardless of how much you score for yourself.

If Cena ever can give Khali an FU I will be seriously impressed. The guy is so big, I cant imagine the strength it would take Cena to whip him over his shoulders. Khali gave Cena quite the elbow to the jaw.

QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 06:48 PM) I don't know if Johanssen or the wife knew about the twin, though the wife knew something was up. Definitely, he kept telling his wife that he loved her some days, but not others.

Edge looks awful. He looks like he has gained alot of weight, lost muscle tone, and he looks really slow. Is he still hurt from that 20 foot Jeff Hardy ladder drop during Wrestlemania?

QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ Apr 23, 2007 -> 06:44 PM) SPOILERS First she was with Angiers, but when he told her to go away and spy on Borden, she actually got offended and joined Borden. She helped him be more theatrical, since that was his weakness. She also delivered the tricky diary back to Angiers. More possible spoilers Do you think that she realized that there was Borden and his twin/clone? His wife assumed a mistress, i wondered if Johanssen thought that she was the mistress, or if she knew that there were two of them.

QUOTE(shipps @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 05:08 PM) It says on Coachella's site that they played on the 29th of April . Ha, so it does! I looked at the countdown and thought it was 4 days until it started, looks like it started 4 days ago. Usually those types of countdown counters stay on 00:00 after the final second ticks off. LOL

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 01:02 PM) Dr Z is not a Bears fan at all. He ripped the Bears up and down last year. He said the reason the Bears were going to lose the Super Bowl was because their special teams were less than average. The first play of the game proved that one wrong. Strangely enough he didnt have much to say about Grossman.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 01:03 PM) I know what it's like. I hate having paparazzi following me everywhere thinking I'm Brad Pitt. And here I was thinking we had a famous poster on Soxtalk. Your natural good looks are just unfortunate.

Wow, that is an amazing resemblance. Osama probably should have that guy trail him around as a decoy, if he doesnt already. So how do they tell them apart? Are they just questioning this guy? Some sort of DNA test?

Official 2007 NFL Draft Thread
Draft grades Dr Z http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writ...ort.card/4.html BEARS -- D Their top draft, TE Greg Olsen, doesn't exactly address a need, but that's OK, he could be a high-powered weapon. Unfortunately, I don't find anything in a rather humdrum draft that intrigues me until the fifth round; Kevin Payne, a sleeper, a versatile strong or free safety, and this addresses a real need since Mike Brown seems to be hurt so often now. Charles Robinson http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AouS...o&type=lgns Chicago Bears: There were quite a few question marks after a good first choice in Miami tight end Greg Olsen. No offensive linemen on the first day? Only a seventh-round offensive tackle? Defensive end Dan Bazuin is undersized and didn't seem to be the most pressing need in the second round. Running back Garrett Wolfe is going to be more of a situational player than the next coming of Maurice Jones-Drew. Taking him in the third round might have been a slight reach. Linebacker Michael Okwo isn't an adequate future replacement for Lance Briggs, not at his size (6-foot, 220). Josh Beekman was an odd choice since many teams liked him as a center. Grade: C Pete Prisco http://cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/story/10157575 Chicago Bears Best pick: They need a weapon in the middle of the field, so taking tight end Greg Olsen with the first pick was a good move. Questionable move: Using a third-round pick on Garrett Wolfe, a small running back, is risky. They don't need him as a return man. Second-day gem: Guard Josh Beekman, the team's fourth-round pick, will work in as a starter in two years. Overall grade: C Tom Weir http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/dr...am-grades_N.htm Chicago Bears ***(3 stars out of 4) Fourth-round G Josh Beekman begins to address the aging on their offensive line, plus they got the premier tight end in Greg Olsen, filling a need. Third-round RB Garrett Wolfe from Northern Illinois is an interesting gamble, and Michael Okwo adds needed depth at linebacker, where disgruntled Lance Briggs finds himself still in Chicago — for the moment. Don Pierson http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines Bears To get the best player at any position with the 31st pick is a plus, and tight end Greg Olsen gives them speed down the middle that will threaten all the Cover-2 defenses they face. Dan Bazuin is the kind of undersized pass rusher they like. Garrett Wolfe is really undersized, but they needed a third-down threat. Michael Okwo is a third-rounder, just like Lance Briggs. They waited until their last pick to address a need at offensive tackle, so that remains an area of concern. Grade: A- Bob LeGere http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/story.asp?id=307453 Bears: TE Greg Olson (31) looks like the physically gifted pass catcher they’ve been seeking for decades. He should make the passing game better in a hurry. DE wasn’t a need, although it was impossible to ignore the big-play production of Dan Bazuin (62). RB Garrett Wolfe was a reach at 93, but he has rare speed and quickness and is a home run threat. LB Michael Okwo (94) should contribute right away on special teams, but he’s probably not the next Lance Briggs. OG Josh Beekman (130) is a tough, limited-area athlete. Kevin Payne (167) is a hard-hitting, in-the-box S. Grade: C-plus If anyone can post Mel Kipers grade(ESPN), I dont have Insider

Entourage
QUOTE(Brian @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 10:02 AM) They were filming at the same time but figured out a way to do both films. Than the head of Warners told him he didn't want him to do Medillan because AquaMan is a franchise and he didn't want kids seeing their superhero doing lines of coke in every theatre in the country. Vince felt betrayed and said he would quit A2 unless he got $20 mil. Warner Bro got Jake Gylenhall to replace Vince. Medillian casted Benicio Del Toro instead of Vince during all the crap going on with A2. Nice recap, thanks Brian

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 09:48 AM) Warners didnt have that movie, they have I wanna be sedated i thought. I think Vince pretty much F-ed himself all around on the "I want to be sedated" deal. I thought I remembered the VP letting Ari know Vince isnt getting any of their films any time soon. What killed Medillan? It was filming at the same time as Aquaman 2, right? I cant remember what killed it, the gap between episodes makes me forget

Official 2007 NFL Draft Thread
Chicago Sports talk has been really funny in the last week. None of the hosts will dare rip into Angelo's picks because they all killed him last year and he turned out to be more right than wrong. Everyone is taking the "I slammed Angelo last year and I was wrong, so I will believe in him now" approach. Comcast was reporting last night that the Bears have come to terms with Chris Leak on an UD FA contract. Could be interesting for Orton, Chris Leak was a pretty good college QB for the past 2 years.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 08:46 AM) I was actually hoping that Drama would rip his shirt off and decide to challenge UFC guy, but the way it worked out was rather funny... There were a lot of small touches in that episode that worked... and i really need Ari back in Vince's corner sooner, rather than later. I have loved the way they have broken down Ari and how they are rebuilding his character. He has always been one of the strongest, if not the strongest character in the show. The way they pulled the rug out from under him and revealed a different side of Ari has been a really great part of this season to watch. Im really curious as to how Ari got in the good graces of the head of Warner Bros(I think that was the production company) to free up Medillan for Vince. I thought Vince burned that bridge to the ground.

Entourage
Vince is going to ditch Carla Gugino as his agent in the next 2 episodes, im convinced. She likes him more than she wants to represent him now, and the previews from the next episode show her trying to sabotage Medillan/Median(whatever it is called) so that Ari wouldnt get Vince back. The Pauly Shore "Gotcha" idea was funny except for the "You got Got" chant they did afterwards. Only Drama would be able to take the humiliation and spin it into "Two Pilots in one season, Yeahhhh!!!!"

Freddy Garcia Thread
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 11:23 PM) Garcia's line from tonight -- 4.2IP, 7H, 4ER, 2BB, 8SO, 2HR, 5.65ERA. His numbers this season have hardly been stellar, but I'm still wondering how the package we aquired has helped this team in the short run. Williams did mention the trade was made to benefit the present and future, yet, I'm not seeing anything on the roster to indicate as much. When Williams made that statement, I think that he fully expected Gavin Floyd to beat out John Danks for the 5th spot in the rotation. He was wrong, now it is more of a deal for the future. Who knows though, if MacDougal or Masset should go down with any sort of injury(knock on wood), Gavin Floyd may be the guy that Williams calls up.

Gary Thorne says Bloody sock was fake
QUOTE(Top Notch @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 10:47 AM) What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? All I said, was that other players were wearing solid red socks while Schilling wore stirrups. Meaning, for all those who passed the fifth grade, perhaps he wore the stirrups knowing that they'd be bloodied throughout the game. It's a moot point though, because every picture I've seen of Schilling since I said that, he's wearing stirrups. - Curt Schilling If it is so inconsequential, then why did you go out of your way to point out that it wasnt stirrups? Take your tea and shove it, quit being a top notch a**
