  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 05:42 PM) It would be so nice if the NFL turned its back on this kid and he actually had to work for a living with that degree he got... Oops. You gotta be a real POS to have the NFL turn its back on you. Marcus has a million dollar arm, its too bad his brain is equipped with $.02 worth of common sense.
  2. This is getting bad for the Bucs already. Simms must be having flashbacks of the Red River shootout.
  3. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 04:53 PM) Yup. I'm not wasting anymore time trying to crack the hard headed. translated= Im not trying to convince you that my opinion is the better opinion anymore.
  4. Maybe we should make a NFL Playoffs discussion thread.... Anyhow, Clinton Portis is a stud, 7-0 Skins
  5. Does anyone know why LaVar Arrington says his high school's name instead of Penn State in the pre-game introductions?
  6. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) They havent gotten around to them yet. All they're looking for is a precedent they can use in future lawsuits. There are TONS of Native American team names in Illinois. When I lived in Southern Illinois, it seemed like if your mascot wasnt a dog or a cat, it was the Indians or Redskins etc. If the Native Americans succeed in one case, I have feeling that there is going to be alot of re-named mascots.
  7. On the NFL Playoff Wildcard game pre-game show Chris Berman was listing the top ten playoff moments of all time according to ESPN. Shortly thereafter, ESPN announced that USC could beat any one of those playoff teams, by an average margin of 33-6. I am glad this is finally started! But man does it suck that us Bears fans have to wait an extra week for ours, I have no patience for bye weeks.
  8. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 06:19 PM) hmm, let's look at his track record: 2004: suspended entire season for marijuana possesion Oct 2005: makes obscene gesture to fans Dec 2005: driving on revoked license Gator Bowl: stomps on players leg, lies about apoligizing yeah, I'd say he brought it upon himself. Hmm, I thought his little soiree' with two 14 year old girls would have made his list of s***ty things done. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=1851263 You know this guy bought into his own hype about the same time that Mike got drafted.
  9. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 12:54 PM) I doubt Freddy skips the classic, but Vazquez might. Hmm, I was hoping it was going to be the other way around if anything. Freddy logged 250 innings last season counting the post-season, 35 more innings than Vazquez.
  10. Is there anyone on the Sox that is confirmed to be playing in the WBC?
  11. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 06:47 AM) This is one of the main things I wish people would realize when 'superstars' play well past their prime. (Ahem, Brett Favre.) I sort of agree with you, but Favre is a little different because he directly affects the outcome of every game. Now if you want to talk about past baseball superstars, I completely agree with you. Roger Clemens, Frank Thomas, Wade Boggs, Eddie Murray, etc. All of them played past their primes and still contributed to their respective teams.
  12. I also think this is Cora the manager speaking, with a little bit of Ozzie. I am sure if Owens was my player and he was killing the ball like Cora said, then I wouldnt be too happy if he quit on my team. There is plenty of time for egos to be soothed though
  13. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 02:23 AM) Silvy and Carmen found em first http://www.am1000.com/listingsEntry.asp?ID...=Marc+Silverman OK, they can have movie producing rights then. Sheesh.
  14. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 03:53 AM) Don't change the fact that he's a horrible tipper. And from out of left field comes nitetrain!
  15. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 10:00 PM) And speaking of Channing Frye, he's havin a very nice game tonight. 30 points and 7 boards. Looks like Larry Brown may have actually settled on a rotation, and even Starbury had a good game tonight. Larry Brown cant be happy that he is being forced to use rookies out there, he usually doesnt play rookies much at all. Well, Darko that is....
  16. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) Could you imagine this in baseball? I can't. I guess the basketball equivalent, and I don't know how prevalent this really was, but it was always claimed that Stockton had his assist totals padded at home. Hawk: Paul Konerko steps in, batting .432 with 85 homeruns and 450 RBI DJ: And its only May, Hawk. Imagine what those numbers will look like in September! Hawk: DJ, I fully expect that Paul Konerko will finish the year with well over 300 homeruns.
  17. If the guy wants to work, I want him to. He deserves to go out when he is ready
  18. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) Also, the A's were the best defensive team in baseball last year. second best according to MLB.com. LAAngels are first.
  19. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 08:30 PM) I think's it's a good hire for the Vikings. Childress basically could have had the Green Bay job if he wanted, they were very high on him. But the Vikings brass just must have done an excellent job selling Minny to him. Should be interesting to see how this affects Daunte Culpepper, with that big bonus coming up and everything. He's likely to stick around though. ESPNews was talking to a Vikings beat reporter today after the press conference, and he mentioned that the Eagles rated Culpepper as the second best QB on the board below McNabb. Childress seeemed pretty excited to work with him. Childress had a pretty good Culpepper model with McNabb, I think these two will work out fine together.
  20. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) Fox Sports gives Urlacher 98 solo and 24 assisted. It dont make no sense to none of us! Probably just Fox blowing his stats up on TV, but to give him an extra 45 tackles is just ridiculous
  21. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) I bet he could have still thrown for over 200 YDS looking like that. /looks for White Sox Josh joke.....
  22. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) 170 was blasted all over Fox the last game of the season. Tackle stats are far from official, teams count them much differently than websites. Im glad I am not the only one who saw that. That was where I got that number, with Briggs getting 169 tackles.
  23. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 04:25 PM) http://www.sportingnews.com/exclusives/200...3/586318-p.html Here's the article written by that clown in 04. It's even more pathetic when you read it now than it was at the time. This is how you answer idiots like this. Way to go, Brian! He blew that article UP. Yeah, thats all the Bears do in their scheme, they hide him in the back of the huge fat lineman. What is that you say? Traylor and Washington left and took their buffet tables? Who is the fatman in their place? The lineman weigh WHAT?!! They rarely rush more than 4 lineman? What is this insanity? 170 tackles in 2005. So what you are saying is that he should have made way more than 170 tackles? Strange how these NFL scouts never give their name when they are talking about a player....
