Dayn Perry's crystal ball. Yanks 2006 champs
Kyyle23 replied to southsideirish71's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Actually Dayn Perry works for baseball prospectus, as Try Wingo told me the other day. I didnt realize that, but it tells me why he has strange stat fetishes. -
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 06:21 PM) Ahh, so THAT'S why I've never heard of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.... They were big for about a year after the movie "Swingers" came out. They had a couple of songs on the soundtrack and were in the movie. But swing bands are a tough to keep in the spotlight. Fun to see live, though.

I just want this drama to be over. Im sick of the season-long guessing game and everyone trying to gloss over his current numbers by talking about the old days. Yeah, he had a bad line, and lost his wide recievers and running backs. But the guy threw about 29 interceptions, and against the Bears in particular it wasnt the lack of line, WRs, or RBs. It was the constant deep ball chucking and ill advised throws that he used to be able to get away with. I dont want to hear morons like Madden and Bill Maas talk about him like he is the best thing since sliced bread while he is making these bad plays. I understand the guy was f***ing phenomenal, but these guys are paid to talk about what they see, not what they saw 5-10 years ago. Its time Brett walked away. the Green Bay packers decided that they didnt want to pony up the money every year and win a championship, and Brett is going to have to recognize that and walk away while his legs still work.

Did anyone see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy completely blow their lip sync cover while doing their halftime show today? It was worse than Ashley Simpson, they were pretending to play their instruments and 3 bandmembers started to try and sing their chorus, but nothing happened. So then the guitar player starts laughing and is just holding the guitar while a guitar riff is playing over the speakers, the lead singer started singing about a full second after his voice comes on the speakers, and the whole band looked like they just didnt think that they needed to make it look realistic. I was really dissapointed. I saw them in concert about 6 years ago, and I never thought they would resort to something like this. I mean, everyone knows that lip sync-ing happens. But if you are gonna do something like that, ON NATIONAL TV, at least sell your product. I hope someone calls them out for this, its not fair for Simpson to get raked over the coals for the same thing, even though i could care less about her career.

Wow. This is gonna change the face of cheeseland for a while. Rodgers looked more like Joey Harrington than he did Eli Manning when he came in for Brett Favruuuh a few weeks ago.

Official NFL General Discussion Thread

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 11:50 PM) After tonight, you can say goodbye to our Offensive Line Coach and to our starting RT Rob Pettiti. Is Pettiti a free agent? On a related note, is Larry Allen signed for another 20 years? -
QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 10:11 AM) So, you're saying that Jeter isn't a good defensive SS? Do you even watch baseball?? I will say he isnt as great as he is made out to be. He gets the job done and gets too much airtime when he makes a good play. I appreciate his bat a hell of alot more than I appreciate his glove. And yes, I do watch baseball. Just like everyone else here.

Jeff Blake Appreciation Thread
Kyyle23 replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 02:06 AM) 7 of 8 for 44 yards and a score....what a throw to Gage!! But the most important part? He MANAGED THE GAME, NO TURNOVERS!!! I really think we should start Blake in the 1st playoff game, he can complete passes AND manage the game, he's like Orton and Grossman all rolled into 1 God-like QB!!! Did you see that Marino-like pass from Blake to Gage? I dont think Grossman could have done that. -

I dont know, I thought their pen was much better last year with Tom Gordon in the mix. On paper it looks like their pen improved, but we all know what intense pressure does to Farnsworth, who knows if Dotel will ever be what he was before his injury, and Ron Villone is living off of his good 1st half with Seattle. I wont say this pen is good until I see it perform. -
I think its time to make a "Jeff Blake Appreciation Thread", ASAP. Hey White Sox Josh, your boy Orton sure looked like a superbowl QB today. Someone needs to tell him the triple head pump fake only works when it is Purdue vs Coastal Carolina.

Maurice Clarett accused of armed robbery

I wanna see what Maurice's advisor Jim Brown thinks of his protege' now. LOL, THE Ohio State Penitentiary -
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:21 AM) I guess innocent until proven guilty doesn't apply to certain people. Depends. Balco tipped the scales and made it impossible for us, as the regular person, to decipher who was or was not juicing, and the players union did their best to cover up any and all wrongdoing until Congress stepped in. So we were left with bits and pieces of grand jury testimony, Jose Cansecos book(which was WIDELY ridiculed and questioned, but actually turned out to hold weight) and players pointing fingers. Sure, noone ever saw Barry Bonds take steroids(or hasnt admitted it yet), but Gary Sheffield had no problem telling everyone that Barry gave him the cream. Does that make Bonds guilty? Not to some, but it sure makes me think that he is(well, that and the pictures throughout his career that playout like Bruce Banner morphing into the Incredible Hulk). For most of his career Miguel Tejada was in BALCO central, its not out of the realm of possibility that he saw Giambi get paid and decided he wanted to jack his numbers up to the next level with Victor Conte's lab. And for KW, he needs to have no doubt in his mind. If he thinks that Tejada could possibly be involved, he needs to stay the f*** away, proof or no proof. It just isnt as easy as saying "Innocent until proven guilty"

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 12:50 PM) dude your sig=priceless I thought you would appreciate that
-
Im waiting for Tejada to stop reiterating his trade demand, to tell you the truth. We all know. He doesnt have to keep telling ESPN he wants to be traded and continue throwing his team under the bus for lack of action.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) Although I know what you are thinking right now: I wonder what VaFan thinks about this. you are right. Thats what I think about everything.WWVAFD?

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) Plus I dont take your posts seriously well aint that some s*** If the guy quit on his team last year, I want no part of him. His last two months were pretty bad for his standards. And I am still curious about his Palmeiro connection. Cancer is a bad word though, I dont think thats right
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) Heres a quote about Tejada Tejada plays baseball with passion and drive. He demonstrates his reverence for the game with hard play and vocal leadership. Teammate Brian Roberts told Peter Gammons that Tejada is the best player in the game because, 'He has an uncanny ability to knock in runs... his energy. He is always up, pushing everyone and making the entire team better." Orioles' hitting instructor Terry Crowley said, "This franchise changed the day he arrived." Bear in mind I dont want him here. But making up s*** like him being a cancer in the clubhouse is stupid. Let the cubs fans do that. Hers another quote about Tejada from Foxsports.com It isnt made up Rock, its widely speculated.

Im just curious at what reaction this weeks NFL power rankings would draw. This really doesnt mean anything at all, this guy isnt much more than an intern, but he is published on Foxsports.com http://foxsports.foxnews.com/nfl/story/5199720

i have no doubt in my mind that Grissom will start at some point

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 09:29 AM) Is Lester the guy the cubs used to have????? If so Reed for him seems a bit tilted toward Boston. What isnt tilted towards Boston? I swear they are just as bad as the Yankees in terms of prospect hype and what it generates them in the trade market, and every trade is a fleece to me, I just dont get it. Jeremy Reed and Gil Meche for Jon Lester? Two major leaguers for a minor league prospect. GMAFB. Every trade is like this. Casey Fossum, Brandon Lyon, Jorge De La Rosa and Michael Goss for Curt Schilling. Who? Nobodies. Fossum was already traded to Tampa and has been a dissapointment, Lyon sported a 6.62 ERA last year, De La Rosa was traded to Milwaukee. I just dont get how they pull the wool over everyones eyes.

Judging by the offseason it doesnt look like the Sox are going to fall off anytime soon, and the fans come when the Sox win. I dont foresee anything but a snowball effect on attendance unless something bad happens. I think 3,000,000 is a attainable figure.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) What line of business are you in exactly? I couldnt resist. It was there, I had to do it.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) That kid is SOOOOOOOOO grounded right now...... Im sure "Go to your room!" is much better than "Pay me $200 for the cab ride or I beat your ass!"

QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 09:32 AM) Thank you, yes. It turns out they had offers out to Garland and Contreras, Garland jumped at the offer and signed. I believe they are still talking to Contreras, trying to get something done. In the meantime if they get blown away by a trade offer, they'll move him. As for Vazquez, they love him and have chased him for at least 3 years now. It makes zero sense that their purpose is to raise his value and trade him. Watch out JimH. if Vasquez is traded then VAFan is going to bring up this post.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 11:33 PM) I've tried Halo, don't see the allure. Me neither, Im just not a first person shooter type of guy. I think the story is pretty neat though
