New Safety for the Bears
I dont want you guys to think that I am the biggest fan of Green, and I am not going to defend him till my last breath, I just think he is better than the alternatives. Im a bears fan though, so i am hoping that Harris proves me wrong.

New Safety for the Bears
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) Actually he had 2 bad plays i can remember the PI a course and than he missed a tackle on Moss for that long reception. Obviously there had to be more to it than just this 1 game but im glad Lovie isnt hesitating to play the player he feels is the best even if its a rookie. This looks like it could be a really good draft for us with Benson, Bradley, Orton, and Harris.... Ive also heard a lot about this undrafted rookie we have Rashied Davis. That was Azumah

New Safety for the Bears
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 04:56 PM) and training camp and preseason So he was good enough to start all the way through the preseason, and then they just figured out in the first half that he cant cut it? GMAB Green is a good player within the system, but his strenth is when he plays up on the line against the run. he never has been the greatest cover FS, but I still think he is better than Todd "hit them hard" Johnson. The only thing I can recall about Todd Johnson is that he got completely dismantled by the Vikings in the metrodome last year, and started hitting people late.

New Safety for the Bears
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) Nate Vasher was the one with the PI call...? Im saying that it is my opinion that Green is being unfairly benched.

New Safety for the Bears
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) Mike Green is not getting benched just because of a pass interference call. I watched the game a few times and he was absolutely horrid. I'm surprised he made it through the 1st half before they decided to put in Todd Johnson. Hey, he had a bad game. he has been a starter for 2 years now, and he screwed up. Bench him for the game fine, But I think he is better than that. They judged his abilities on one half of the first game

New Safety for the Bears
Personally I think this is a really hasty and ill-advised decision. Mike Green is getting benched because he had a pass interference call, and that really bothers me. Last year i thought that of all the players, Mike Green benefited and grew in Lovie Smiths defense the most. I love Peanut Tillman, but he gets called for PI penalties. jerry azumah got burned by Santana Moss on a third and long. It just seems like Green took the blame for the loss. he contributed to 3 points for the Redskins, thats it. I dont see the D-Line getting benched for allowing 121 yards to Portis.

The Brooklyn Nets??
QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-b...ov=ap&type=lgns Brooklyn Nets? Hmmm? I could get used to it, I suppose. This has been in the works for more than a year. a group of investors including Jay-Z bought the team and has been trying to move it to brooklyn if Brooklyn was willing to sell a large plot of land for the arena/center.

The Bears have found their future QB
QUOTE(Spiff @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) Orton's rating was 52.8, I don't know why people are getting so excited. because the last guy who was the starter posted a 0.0 rating in the pre-season. 52.8 is pretty exciting considering THAT alternative. My thought on this is that Orton is going to have a good season...for a rookie. That could mean alot of different things, the most important thing being that orton has a full year of experience. if Orton makes it through the season, then he has 10 more games under his belt than Grossman. Saying Grossman is signed through next year really means nothing. The bears can cut him, and its a small hit on the cap. Grossman is in a bad career situation now, but there have been many QBs who have gone through the league known as injury prone guys and have done fine(Chandler and McNair come to mind). I do feel that Grossman could take away the starting position next year(provided Orton doesnt take the Bears to the playoffs), but I dont think it will be an open competition. I think Grossman is literally going to have to TAKE it away from orton. but competition for the number 1 QB is a good thing. Jerry Angelo just doesnt agree with it.

El Duque to start on Saturday
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 09:49 AM) Duque to get 1 more shot vs. Twins ''[Hernandez] has brought me all the way to here to this point,'' Guillen said. ''I have a lot of confidence in El Duque. He had one bad outing. We're going to stay the same way, but in the next couple of days, we could change our mind when we see how El Duque feels.'' 'Right now El Duque should be the man because I feel that I let that man down when I took him out,'' Guillen said. ''I feel like people think that I just took him out because everybody wants McCarthy pitching. Well, I do, too. Everybody wants this kid to pitch. But when a guy has pitched for you all year long, I don't think it's fair for him to be treated like this. Wow Ozzie, there is no defending you on this one. One bad outing is really stretching it. And he hasnt pitched all year long, the guy had two spells on the disabled list.

First post...this is just a test
QUOTE(Irishsox1 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) The funny thing is that I had never posted about Sox attendance in the 4 years as a member. Not once!...until the last KC series. Oh well, now I now....and learning was half the battle.

Bears cut.....
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 01:12 AM) He blocked a kick that essentially won the game Vs the Titans last year. That's the only f***ing thing he's ever accomplished in the NFL, a blocked f***ing kick... Actually I think he has blocked more than one kick for the bears. If I recall correctly, he blocked a kick against St Louis in the game that his knee was destroyed in. I want to say he has blocked 2 or 3 kicks. I knew he was done as a bear when he was rolled up in St Louis. You could see the entire bottom side of his knee disjoint. Big guys just put too much weight on their legs to allow proper healing. Case in point, Frank Thomas.

Roy Horn walking again
QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) Animals are jealous/protective by nature. Any chance Montecore smelled strange pussy on Roy? Something tells me that noone has ever smelled that on Roy Horn.....ever. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) I remember reading somewhere the tiger was actually trying to protect Roy not hurt him and he was hurt more due to the strength of the animal (as you mentioned) not because he was trying to harm him. I haven't read many articles about what happened so this might be way off, just a memory that is tickling my brain. Thats what S & R are claiming, and have been saying right from the start. The attack wasnt what ultimately injured Roy, he ended up having a stroke due to the loss of blood in his brain and a blood pressure problem he has. Roy said that Mantecore sensed that he was about to have a stroke, and tried to get him off the stage for help. Not really a realistic reason, but thats what he told Maria Shriver.

Roy Horn walking again
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) Yeah, but the Vegas boys basically said afterwards that these are wild animals and that is what they do. I don't think they ever claimed they should be domesticated. That is one of the things about these nuts, they knew they had fire at hand, and they did respect it, and even after the fact, they still respect it. Probably like some shark victims, they come away respecting the beast more. I believe the cat was put down, due to it having had the taste of blood, but I don't think they ever said that it wasn't their fault. I also agree that the people that are shocked by it are idiots, but I don't think they were ever "shocked" any more than anybody else watching a giant cat attacking your partner of umpteen years would be shocked. Heck, 2000 years of being domestic hasn't worked on many of the house cats I have seen!!! Montecore (the tiger that attacked Roy) was not put down, and still resides with Siegfried and Roy in their Secret Garden. http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/wild_cats/111218 I understand how you can say "They are wild animals you dummy!" about the shock value this attack had on S&R, but the fact is that they are not wild, yet not domesticated. these large cats are extremely pampered by S&R and those guys work with them etremely hard, but I think the problem is that they have all these instincts that they dont know what to do with, and they surface at odd and bad times. Wild, no. untrustworthy, yes. It is strange though, that the tiger didnt really attack and maul Roy. He jumped up and grabbed him around the neck, but he didnt shake him and "make a kill" like tigers do. He literally picked Roy up and carried him off the stage, and the damage (while severe due to the length and strength of the tigers teeth) was more incidental and very little indication of maiming or intent to do harm. Strange situation at the very least. The only people who probably know what really happened that night are probably in S&R's close circle of friends.

Stones "Roll"
Im with you Palesox, that was an amazing show. Also, it was the biggest and most multipurposed stage I have ever seen. I overheard someone saying that it takes 70 trucks to move all of their stuff, I wouldnt have believed it until i was actually inside. Really amazing. Jagger has more energy than I have had in the past 5 years, and I am 27.

LA Confidential
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...on/050907&num=0 it is really quite amazing what the press doesnt find newsworthy, and what they do find newsworthy. It is really amazing that this story can go under the radar for so long while a case with incredibly similar circumstances can be pushed because of who is involved. Even moreso when you consider both of the cases involve teams based in LA and owned by Jerry buss. Thoughts?

QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) Just listened to the semi-new 311 album. I think it is mostly mediocre with a couple standout tracks. So, just like all their other discs. Thats the vibe I get from alot of 311 fans I know(me being one of them). I would have to say its just like all their other discs after Transistor. Transistor and the discs before it are all pretty damn good start to finish, IMO.

Ordonez speaks about the Tigers
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) Magglio Ordonez spoke softly, but his words landed with a thud -- just like the Tigers' winless September. "I think we stink," he said after Thursday's 4-2 to the Cleveland Indians. "We should feel embarrassed, the way we are playing and the way we are hitting. We suck." Ordonez hasn't spoken out about the Tigers like this before. But this season's up-and-down club hasn't been down like this before. The Tigers have lost eight straight, scoring 10 runs in those eight games. They are 12 games below .500. This isn't what Ordonez, the big-time slugger, envisioned when he signed for five years and $75 million last off-season. "You don't win ballgames with talent," he said. "You win ballgames with run-scoring and playing defense and playing good ball. "I wish I knew the answer. I don't know what is going on. I know we are playing hard, but it's not happening." Ordonez spent his career until this season with the White Sox, and he got used to a winning record. Unless the Tigers win 18 of their final 24 games, Ordonez for the first time in six years will play on a team that finishes with a losing record. "You have to get used to winning," Ordonez said. "Winning is a habit. Losing is a habit." The Tigers are on target for their 12th straight losing season. "We need to change our attitude," Ordonez said. "We should be over .500." hmmmm, I know of a team that wins ballgames by playing defense and playing good ball. Although, they emphasize pitching more than run-scoring. But I dont think that Magglio would understand that.....
