QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 11:47 AM) Fournette and McCaffery skipping their bowl games and getting roasted on twitter by people who sit on their couches and watch games. This will become the norm we should expect. Especially with the playoff system. They want to be healthy for NFL prep. I don't blame them. Danny Kanell had thoughts on this and he is being destroyed for them His first point was "Does everyone who keeps using Jaylon Smith injury as an examplee of why players should skip bowl realize he got paid an insurance claim?" because his 900K insurance payout is way better than the 26M guaranteed amount he was gonna get paid at his projected first round slot

What's the Funniest/Worst Christmas Gift you've received?
My mother in law asked me a few times during the year if I wore watches, liked watches, etc. I told her over and over that I just have never liked wearing watches, so of course she got me a watch. And got mad at me when I didn't wear it after Christmas

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 08:48 AM) What rule did they change because of him? Are you talking about this one? NFL moves up kickoff to 35-yard line Cause that one was done for player safety. I should have put rules in quotes, what i mean is coaches changed their strategies based on him. Teams kicked kickoffs out of bounds trying to keep it out of his hands, field position was gladly given away in order to keep the ball out of his hands. And the above NFL rule pretty much made sure he wasnt going to return any kicks anymore unless a team was really stupid, and by that point everyone wasnt going to be the one that kicked to him anymore.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 04:34 PM) Tough call on Hester to the HOF. Very exciting player, but it depends on how they value returners. I think he would be the first. He also did most of his damage in his first two years in the league. After those years, he had one kick off returned for TD. That's because they changed the rules because of him and coaches stopped kicking to him completely, that's why he stopped returning kicks

QUOTE (SexiAlexei @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 04:27 PM) Yes, I think he was wrong with Cutler. The man decided Tebow/Orton were better than Cutler, which I'd say is pretty obviously wrong. If I'm not mistaken, I also think he pushed to draft Tebow. NE is good because of their head coach, I would be careful giving this guy another try. I sure hope the Bears don't go after him. No, he wanted Matt Cassell, it had nothing to do with Tebow and Orton. He tried to trade for Cassell and it failed, Cutler and his agent caught wind of it and when they talked to him about it, it got ugly and Cutler said "trade me". Then he ended up with Orton and drafted Tebow. He definitely didn't choose Tebow/Orton over Cutler, he just ended up with those two because he handled his business like a jackass

QUOTE (SexiAlexei @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 04:00 PM) Why would anyone be interested in hiring McDaniels? With the way he failed in Denver, I wouldn't think anyone would touch him again. I think he will get another shot at HC, and when it happens he won't be given full personnel control like he had in Denver. Giving him a competent GM that he can work with will probably benefit him a lot, he became a egomaniac in Denver by all reports

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 12:14 PM) That article you linked is from last weekend. I know it's supposed to snow this Friday/Saturday, are they really calling for 5-10 inches again? http://abc7chicago.com/weather/abc7-first-...orecast/110063/ https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/USIL0225:1:US sorry grabbed the wrong link. I heard this morning on the radio they are calling for a large amount of snow again on Friday and Saturday, then on Saturday temps are going to plunge again and it will turn to ice

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 10:52 AM) I actually think playing a young QB preserves your job more than signing a vet. If you draft a QB, you typically get time. If you sign a vet and he's bad, you typically get fired. I agree, i just dont know that Fox has the patience for coaching up a QB right now. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 10:53 AM) I think it will be Trubinsky. I hope you are right but I dont know that he falls to the Bears. Right now they have to worry about the Browns, 49ers, and seems like even Jacksonville selecting a QB before the Bears getting a crack. Trubinsky is getting a lot of hype now

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 10:42 AM) I just think that's an insanely bad way to go about running this Bears team. Note that I'm not advocating bringing Cutler back - it's more of an argument against bringing in an FA stopgap. If Fox isn't happy with a rookie QB, then maybe Pace needs to part ways with him and bring in somebody who will work through a real rebuild. Fox has done an excellent job with the defense, but it's not close to being playoff ready or better. There's nobody on the FA market that solidifies the QB position long term. It's time to draft a QB and give them the reins. im not saying it is right or if they are ready to do that, im just saying i think that is what Fox wants to do to preserve his job. And honestly if it is Romo(which seems to be gaining some momentum after Clayton just named the Bears as his #1 most likely destination), you might have your rookie QB starting before the end of the preseason. He is made of glass

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 10:17 AM) If you are going the veteran route, I don't know why you wouldn't just bring Cutler back. The cost of cutting him is minimal this offseason and next. There's no one on the open market that can be your long term solution at QB, so I'm not sure why you wouldn't just roll with Cutler for another year. I don't think there's any way around it though - if the Bears are moving off Cutler, they have to draft a QB early next year (1st or 2nd round) and give them the reins. You have to look at it through Fox lenses though. He knows he needs to win next season, and after all the crap that happened this year with Hoyer basically taking the job from Cutler until he broke his arm, I imagine Cutler probably is pretty salty about it because thats how he is. Fox knows someone like Romo is gonna come in and want to show he still has it, and it pretty much fits the mold of what Fox has done over his career, get a seasoned vet(delhomme was basically plug and play, and then there was Manning) who knows what he is doing and let the defense rampage. I think there is a lot of Cutler fatigue and everyone probably wants to go their own separate ways.
