  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 30, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) The single-player is the best stories I've played in a FPS. There's like 7 different tracks you go down that tell different WW1 stories. It's really deep, well-acted, and makes you feel like you're there. quoted for Chili at steves request
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 30, 2016 -> 10:46 AM) Reading between the lines, its sounds like a nice way of saying Howard is lazy in practivce. except the word before he got the starters job was he was killing it in practice. The only thing i was reading/hearing was he had problems with pass protection, and multiple analysts have mentioned that he has gotten a lot better over the course of the season
  3. its almost like its a holiday
  4. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 04:11 PM) I thought they already had the final show. So they are having another final show then. It is a Boers farewell show, I believe he is hosting by himself and they are playing a bunch of old calls and bits. I think it's just just own goodbye to radio
  5. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) Is Cowley pairing up with Bernstein to replace Boers? I could have sworn I heard him say that he looks forward to January 5th? (I was sort of half listening on my lunch break) If so that would reach a new level smarmy greater than though radio right there, yeesh. Jan 5th is the Boers show, that's what he was referring to
  6. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 10:39 AM) Adding a veteran "slugger" would be doing more of exactly what I've been "whining" about for years. Sorry if I don't share you and Dick's love of declining veterans, crowding out young players and its inevitable result: 78 win baseball. Sell of a few more this winter and then they can add to the inventory. no, adding a one year sign and flip at the deadline player is your constant whine, you know how you love to bring that Cubs front office doing that. Instead you choose to view it as HAHN AND KENNY RAWWWR THEY SIGNING DECLINING HEROS RAAAWR LET ME REPEAT MY SAME COMPLAINT EVEN AS THEY APPEAR TO FINALLY BE DOING WHAT I WANTED EVERYONE GROUPTHINKS BUT ME RAAAWR This team isnt winning 78 games next season, and whatever hero they choose to sign isnt going to change that. Love how you think more players to deal at the deadline is too much to handle though. Solid analysis
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 09:38 AM) For the love of God, you don't always need to play for a full year to figure out if a guy can play or not. If there is a guy who can put up some numbers and perhaps get them a player at the deadling, it sure beats Coats beating you on the head in July showing he can't play full time at the major league level. I'm pretty sure the Sox have a decent idea whether or not they can play right now. It's sort of why certain prospects are targeted and they just don't take 10 random guys for their assets. Dont you understand that every post must contain a shot at hahn and williams, even when they do exactly what you have been whining about for years? Come on DA, GET WITH THE ANTI HERO This rebuild is obviously so confusing for the front office they dont need more guys to flip its just too much to think about
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 06:15 PM) The Bears giving up the 4th pick somehow for JimG seems like the Jags taking Bortles to me. Seemed like an overdraft to lots of people at the time but people justified it by saying "If you've gotten your QB it's worth the price". Both are probably true. That's too high of a price to pay, but if you are in a position where you have to gamble to save your job - taking no action at the QB spot or drafting a QB gives them a 100% chance of being fired while trading for G gives them a 75% chance of being fired, you do the math. Can anyone give me a recent example of a team signing or trading for another team's backup QB to be a starter and having it work out well? I just scrolled through the top 25 QBs this week and the only one that might describe is Tyrod Taylor. Nothing recently really. Only one I can think of recently is Schaub in Houston but it didn't last long
  9. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 04:50 PM) What happened to Joe West deserves a suspension? Golf happened
  10. I was at the game when Herbert Perry fell on his face trying to catch a Jim Thome foul ball from tripping over third base. Thome sent the next pitch 3/4 up the hideous blue batters eye. One of the longest homeruns i have ever seen live, if not the longest
  11. hard for me to justify it when we spent all season complaining about depth and watched that lack of depth show itself
  12. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 11:43 AM) Hypothetically speaking if Garrapolo was released from the Pats and placed in this years draft. Wouldnt you strongly consider taking him at 3 if you are the Bears? I would, but right now we are talking about two draft picks, not one
  13. Cassell and Garrappalo's situations couldnt be more different, really. Garrappalo has played in 2 games, Cassell got an entire season, Garrappalo was a 2nd round pick with a solid college career and draft hype, Cassell was a college backup that was expected to hold a clipboard for his career if not be a practice squad player. I think Garrappalo has a chance to be a good QB in the league, and I think the Patriots believe it also. Hard to call him a system QB if he hasnt really played in the system tho I dont want the Bears to drop a 1st and 4th on him though
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 09:27 AM) Eh. I have no interest in wasting major league money on an intentionally bad product, nor do I feel like getting excited about knowing this is going to be the worst time to be a Sox fan in decades. Hoping what might happen in five years isn't really a reason to be excited today for me. It is the route we have chosen and all, but it is so depressing. It isn't like you can sim this time period to see if it works like OOTP. You have to live through the misery. Bleh. Again, we have been depressed and living with the misery anyways. Nothing to truly look forward to except "well hopefully this guy finds the magic". You dont have to waste your money on the games if you dont want to, Cubs fans sure stayed away when they were dropping 95-100 games a few years ago. If you dont want to go to games because of the product on the field, that doesnt make you a bad fan. But you at least can look at some of the acquisitions and have some hope that it will get better. Hell, the Cubs buried Bryant in the minors when everyone knew he could more than handle major league pitching. At least you know you will be seeing Moncada and Anderson growing together pretty quickly
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 09:14 AM) It doesn't matter what I think. But getting excited about sucking for a really long time just doesn't hold any level of excitement for me. I already passed on Soxfest because who am I going to go see? I also passed on the kids club membership, because even free tickets aren't going to be worth it this year by the time parking and ballpark prices are paid. No interest in buying into intentional and long term suck. It does matter what you think because you keep complaining about the change of course. We have been in the middle of long term suck since the end of 2006, with no plan except cobble things together and cross our fingers. It hasnt worked. They arent wanting to lose forever, there is a little bit of light in the horizon. I honestly cannot understand why this is so upsetting to you after watching the completely dead and dysfunctional product that has been thrown at us for the last 11 years
  16. peavy44, while your thoughts on the Cubs are scintillating and fascinating and other big words that i dont need to write, they are not really based in reality and have nothing to do with the topic at hand. Lets talk about Quintana, lets not turn it into an argument on why peavy44 is wrong about the cubs and cant admit that they are good.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 02:00 PM) Please tell me that's not Brandofan? lol. IIRC Brandofan has an active account, he has been back for a while now and hasnt caused much trouble at all.
  18. 2016. wow

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 11:33 AM) Really??? It looked like an entire preview of pulling out every stereotypical scene from a horror movie that anyone could think of. This is what people have wanted, Ridley Scott to return to "Alien". While he is using a lot of the original as inspiration, the actual story hasnt even been approached yet. Considering they are going to the Engineer's home planet, and will be dealing with the engineers again, I think we can wait to see if this is a shot by shot remake of Alien. I also am looking forward to it, some of the story "leaks" that have come out are exciting if true
  20. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 11:28 AM) Honestly, I bet Yankees are as surprised as all of us about Nightengale's tweets. I wonder if GM's ever get pissed when that happens or just chalk it up as part of the biz? Im sure Cashman understands, he has been playing that game for a long time
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 09:18 AM) If you get money back does that mean that what you get back does not count against the luxury limit? The problem the Yankees have with Robertson is if they go over the threshold, his salary in essence is quite a bit more than they are paying him. Thats right, I forgot they are trying to avoid the repeat offender tax for being over the luxury limit for consecutive years going into 2018
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 09:12 AM) BTW I find it so bizarre Yankees are asking for money. My message board fantasy solution would be a Frazier/Headley swap with sox getting prospects for taking on money. Maybe they are just making the sox "buy" an extra prospect that Hahn wants. We all know the Yankees are not hurting for cash, and never will be.
  23. I still am trying to process Pittsburgh having to clear that salary. Has to be a downer for those fans
  24. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 11:40 AM) It's called making a mockery of something absurd, not crying. Chill out SuperAdminMan. lol, you telling me to chill out after repeatedly complaining about your suspension is amusing. You are so handcuffed on this site by all of us SuperAdmins
  25. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 11:28 AM) ARRRRRGGGGGG!!! ( side note - be careful, you can be suspended for posting only "poop". Seriously. ) Yea, for three consectutive pages after being asked to stop. But hey, let's keep crying about it
