Uh-oh...Harrelson wants to hold on until 2020
QUOTE (WBWSF @ Jan 5, 2017 -> 07:15 AM) Very few, if any broadcasters retire on their own. Most of them stick around as long as possible. What else are they going to do after they leave the broadcasting booth? Very few of them have any other type of career to go back to after broadcasting. And where else are they going to make the money that they're making broadcasting games? I always thought that both Bob Elson and Harry Caray stuck around too long. if you are retiring, you arent really looking to fall back on another career. You are looking for somewhere sunny with a lot of golf courses

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 5, 2017 -> 07:45 AM) Because I don't see anyone paying it, he only has 1 year left on his deal, their starting QB thinks he's playing into his 40's. Something has to give somewhere. I think they are in a similar position as the Sox were with Sale. There is no rush here, they have the hot property(not nearly as valuable as Sale of course), and can slow play it. They may not get a 1st and 4th, but I dont think they are getting only a 2nd back

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 4, 2017 -> 04:00 PM) Are you willing to give up that 2nd round pick for JG? That was the price for Cassel. The price isn't measured against a trade made 8 years ago. The price is being measured against what Sam Bradford got, that's why you keep seeing 1st and 4th. And the Patriots have little motivation to come off that price because why should they?

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 4, 2017 -> 10:56 AM) It certainly seems that Paxson has been more visible (since the end of last year) and that his comments haven't exactly been ringing endorsements of Gar. I don't know what we are going to do, but I would hope at some point Reinsdorf could separate business from friendship. Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh

They did fire O Line coach Sam Magazu and a assistant DB coach( can't remember the name). No commitment to Cutler, they haven't given up on Fuller, they know the DBs were bad and they need to be upgraded. They also said injuries aren't an excuse and then used injuries as an excuse. The live Facebook feed was deafening with the sound of mouth-breathing

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jan 4, 2017 -> 10:14 AM) Ok, then! You have made your point in no uncertain terms! We will put you down in the "Don't like" column and move on. More "used to like" And to be clear my opinion of Hawk has nothing to do with Bennetti. I felt like this before I even knew who Bennetti was(I didn't even know who he was Until he got the job lol)

Uh-oh...Harrelson wants to hold on until 2020
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2017 -> 10:05 AM) Apparently we went an entire season without a walk off win? Without a controversial call? The fact that nothing stands out is kind of the point. The only thing that stands out recently about Hawk is his embarrassing moments. Like running downstairs to check on Frazier in the middle of an inning, calling out conspiracies against the sox, TWTW. He is past the time to put him out to pasture, unfortunately it seems he will get his wish of dying in the booth (which will be absolutely horrifying if/when it happens). Now I won't remember him for when he was awesome but rather as a forgetful, domineering, overly opinionated and behind the times announcer that never could let anyone else stand in his light.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 4, 2017 -> 07:23 AM) Relax Luke Cage. Do you honestly enjoy Benetti? It reminds me of Ventura replacing Ozzie. He won't embarrass the team or organization, but he's about as interesting as listening to paint dry. Relax? Relax about what? You like misinformed people who constantly spout nonsense instead of talk about the game. I'm not surprised at all, Mariah

Uh-oh...Harrelson wants to hold on until 2020
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 4, 2017 -> 05:11 AM) Frankly, I'd rather listen to Harrelson hype all the young prospects than put up with Benetti questioning Stone over and over and not providing any of his own insight. Hawak can also tell you more from hanging around BP for a week of spring training than we'll get all season from some "voice" announcers. I don't agree with one word of this post

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 12:25 PM) I don't see any way Hoiberg coaches this team next year. I just dont believe JR is going to write Hoiberg a 15 million dollar check to go away, 2 years after he wrote Thibs a large check to go away. I think they will try and get through next season

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 11:47 AM) Moves will be made, but very minor ones, especially next offseason. i dont know, I dont think it will be as barren wasteland as you think. They are in full asset acquisition mode right now, they should be looking for bounce back potential players that they can flip, for the next few seasons. On top of that, we will/should be watching the development of a lot of young exciting players, hopefully at the major league level as soon as eligible.

Phil Rogers @philgrogers 26m26 minutes ago @whitesox want Austin Meadows in Jose Quintana deal but Josh Bell also fits the need for young hitters w/big upside. please stop idle thoughting after you browse twitter, Phil

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 11:46 AM) JR needs to call Pax, tell him to fire Gar, fire Fred, and tell him he needs to coach the team the rest of the season. The result should show whether Pax should resume his current job, or seek employment elsewhere. on his new years interview with David Schuster, he actually said that the roster was not athletic enough. Its one thing that we all know this, it is a completely different thing that Paxson said it. He is basically putting it on Gar I think Gar *might* get canned if this team keeps putting out these mediocre to bad efforts through january, but I dont think Hoiberg goes anywhere at least until next season.

QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Jan 2, 2017 -> 02:43 PM) Let's say the two switch teams. Does Brady put up better numbers than Rodgers on the Packers and vice versa does Rodgers put up worse numbers than Brady on the Patriots? Rodgers is already the highest rated passer in NFL history by a substantial margin (and this doesn't even account for his well above average rushing abilities). Statistically speaking from an individual standpoint, he's in a league of his own. Who knows, it's entirely hypothetical. rodgers is a great qb and so is Brady, that's all I'm saying.

QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jan 2, 2017 -> 09:52 AM) But the Patriots are good without him. The Packers are garbage without Aaron Rodgers because Rodgers is a better quarterback and more valuable player. That means Belicheck is a better GM than Thompson and is able to assemble a better team around him, it doesn't make Rodgers clearly better than Brady

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 2, 2017 -> 09:02 AM) Brady reminds me of Duncan where you know he is good and they win every year, but it's so methodical you might not appreciate it as much. Where as Rodgers makes that throw to Geronimo last night and you are just in awe. I think people just forget that Brady keeps on making the same great throws because he has been doing it for so long. Brady and Rodgers are both elite, amazing quarterbacks.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 1, 2017 -> 08:51 AM) I would say it started in July with the negotiating of current player (and Sale) trades and the trade of Zach Duke (good thing we traded him when we did, huh?) That's nice but Hahn told us all we will know what direction they are going with the first move of the offseason. I'm not gonna pick nit about it, the point is people need to relax and stop with the impatience and doomsday declarations. Strap in, it's gonna be a bumpy ride

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jan 1, 2017 -> 12:39 AM) The Sox will not trade Quintana without that one headliner - an elite position player prospect. I am among those who think the Sox should wait for the phone to ring now, and not trade Q unless and until they get that player. Frazier is in a different category. The Sox might even consider picking up part of his 2017 Contract if they get prospects in return, and those prospects obviously would not be in that elite category. Therefore, that move would mainly be a salary dump, nothing to get too excited about. It could be argued that the rebuild strategy is now beginning to fizzle a bit and that the Sox might not be able to pull off another trade during the off-season for another elite position player prospect. I fear the worst case scenario - that this rebuild could leave the Sox mired in mediocrity for a longer time than most Sox fans want to endure. The time frame for this rebuild has to be a short one. I already see fans growing impatient, wondering what kind of a team is going to be on the field on Opening Day. Fans might say they are patient for a rebuild, but that patience might evaporate if this team becomes the laughing stock in Chicago while the Cubs keep killing it. JFC, Chris Sale was traded less than one month ago, give me a f***ing break already. It's January first and people are talking about the rebuild failing already and it started 25 days ago.
