Since the scoreless streak is over, I now task greg775 with making our participation trophies -
Robin Ventura should definitely, certainly be fired today

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 08:53 AM) No they will have to wait a minimum of five years, if not for the Veterans Committee. What HoF career did you call recently? Let me guess, Chris Sale... I don't call hall of fame careers before they are done. Seems like missing your shot results in showing your ass. Of course I could pretend I called it, but then someone might dig up an old quote when I said the opposite and show it to me -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 08:30 AM) Robin Ventura will go directly into the HoF when his managerial career is over...no need to even insult him with a vote. He will probably go in the same class as Guerra, Semien, Puig and Carter, no? -
QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 10:43 PM) He couldn't lay down a bunt in the 9th inning though in a situation that would have led to a tied game. Either he is incompetent or Robin was just an idiot. Regardless, something gotta change. Lmao Abreu was never ever going to bunt
-
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 02:12 PM) Not at all. He's spent on other FAs. I'm just saying its on him for not getting the bat. Go big or go home. Guess what? The Sox are going home once again. That is beyond go big, that is just stupid to offer Cespedes that kind of money. And they would have to top 30M per year to get him out of NY
-
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 10:18 AM) Again I never said he was cheap. He spent on DRob, Melky, Abreu. You're thinking I implied that. Try reading again. You are implying it, quit playing semantics
-
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 09:55 AM) Cespedes was there for the taking. So what's it have to do with then? I'm sorry, JR isn't cheap for not offering 30M a season for three seasons. That's ludicrous

It really has nothing to do with breaking the bank, but go ahead and run with that.

Navarro has been garbage since Avila got hurt. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 07:13 PM) Think so? I feel like this hurts Vince more than Dana. I guess Brock might have fought again but everything Brock was going to help with is pretty much done with now and they made their money off him already. I think he is in the sense that they are reeling from Jones suspension and now this is just more bad press. Vince is probably pissed too

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 06:55 PM) Rumors swirling about Lesnar failing a drug test at UFC 200 Dana is probably freaking out

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 05:31 PM) I'm impressed at how little there is in that statement. It's actually applause worthy nothingness. Totally serious, well done Rick. ? Hahn is known for saying stuff like this, sounds like he is saying a lot but he is pretty much saying nothing
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 02:03 PM) Very good defender, but unless there's something seriously wrong with Shuck's defense, I don't see the point. Shuck has started to hit well now that he's been playing. Now he's not on another team and wasn't good 3 years ago, so Hahn is likely unimpressed. But instead of hunting for a CF, they might hold sway and see how Morneau does. Because right now, DH is a far bigger deficit. another ignorant remark, but thats par for the course

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 08:59 AM) Anyone see that 30 for 30 with Gooden and Strawberry? Those guys were pretty messed up. It looks like Strawberry might have his life together now. Gooden looks gaunt and horrible. Couldn't stop swallowing and couldn't sit still. Looks like he still has a bad problem. I caught bits and pieces. Those documentaries just are awesome to watch

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 07:26 AM) So, we're good? - Marc Maron? You heard it exactly like I did then, and that's where Bernstein ultimately failed in the interview. Lubrano alluded to having more info, but Bernstein never simply said, "so, what info do you have that we don't?" That would have changed my opinion of the whole interview. But, half of a conversation is listening, and guys like Bernstein don't listen, they are just waiting to talk. Bernstein messed up so many times in that interview i lost count. He was so concerned in getting his "gotcha" moment that he completely lost sight of professionalism. To me, I would have started with "Why is Penn State up to 92 million dollars in payouts to victims if what you say is true, and every statement is unsubstantiated and uncorroborated?" It was also interesting that Lobrano felt like justice was done for Sandusky but that is completely separate from Paterno, as if they are different cases altogether.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 07:25 AM) I'm ready to give the journeyman Minor Leaguer, Jason Burgeois a shot. I know that he's 34, but he's always been a capable hitter, and is having a career year. A shot at what? A bench spot?
-
QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 10:15 PM) To reiterate, I'm not on Lobrano's side at all. It's terrible that Penn State looked the other way in this sex scandal. However, it's really disingenuous for Bernstein to have a guy on who is involved with the university and ask him to speak freely. Bernstein was insisting that Lobrano give his opinion. What does his opinion matter? He's not going to do it. Bernstein was grandstanding. When Lobrano pressed back and asked for specifics about the newspaper article Bernstein was quoting, and Bernstein didn't have more info, Bernstein was quick to dismiss the line of questioning. Certainly not saying you are, and I agree with you QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 10:15 PM) When Lobrano pressed back and asked for specifics about the newspaper article Bernstein was quoting, and Bernstein didn't have more info, Bernstein was quick to dismiss the line of questioning. Lobrano also used the "Well i have a bunch of information you dont have" excuse without explaining any of it. I thought that it was a terrible interview for everyone involved

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 02:36 PM) He also reported that the Sox and Cespedes finalized a contract in December There was a lot of smoke behind that, it wasn't just him
