  1. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 12, 2016 -> 08:08 PM) So are we going to see a Hector Sanchez appreciation thread ? This is it. Put your favorite memory here
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ May 12, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) Yeah. I can see the sea change coming, but the IFC is going to have to cut down on their ridiculous demands for new everything, and I imagine we'll just have another 20 years of these prestige authoritarian countries dominating (Russia/China/Qatar/etc). Boston pulling out was a good sign. London will never want to do it again. We'll see what happens. This Rio thing is gonna be a litmus test imo. The water quality, the zika virus, the apartments that they werent planning on putting AC in, it seems like its gonna be bad.
  3. its funny how all of these countries want to host an event that is basically a black hole that money disappears into, never to be recovered by that country. And in order to create this large economic black hole, they pay people a lot of money in bribes
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 12, 2016 -> 01:01 PM) It isn't like Jordan isn't still a hugely recognizable figure. Either he's changed his behaviors as a result of social media, etc (or just gotten more careful) or he adapted to the new society to ensure his image continues to be that of the greatest player ever. If Jordan did something terrible, it would still be huge news and he'd get blasted in social media today. He's still extremely famous and one of the most recognizable people on the planet. I don't buy into Jordan having any image other than the current one he has (regardless of era's). He was too smart of a business guy and by and large his issues happened on the court / in practice. Tons of players gamble and tons of them cheat...I've heard multiple NBA reporters say that it is an unwritten rule that you absolutely do not report on what you see outside of the basketball lines (unless of course it is a violation of laws). And one of the reporters, Ramona Shelbourne, went further and mentioned specifically affairs, other women, etc. The PGA world is a much different perceived sport than basketball. Jordan sleeping with other women didn't make him different. Tiger doing it did (as the perceived golfer is a gentlemen who would never do such a thing...not that it is true, it probably isn't it, but it is the perception). Ask people if they think their favorite NBA player cheats or if their favorite golfer cheats and you'll probably get pretty drastically different responses. Tiger also had done it forever, it was the whole car accident and entire craze that added to it as well. The wife/car incident is what kicked it all off. Then everyone was like "hmmmmm what was all that about?" and started digging
  5. Former Bear Eben Britton wrote about being a functional drug addict in the NFL. Some pretty crazy stuff here https://thecauldron.si.com/what-does-it-tak...ab00#.mrja0t8zt Interesting what he says about the 2014 bears team after they got smoked by NE
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 12, 2016 -> 12:01 PM) All you have to do is look at Tiger Woods to know how much the media loves to eat one of these guys for lunch. Yea, but it took a lot before that happened. MJ may or may not have gotten busted, but I would lean on the side of him being about to successfully stay out of it in order to maintain his image, because he knows how much his image is worth
  7. Pretty much Skiles MO. He finds something he doesnt like, and he is out.

http://screenrant.com/star-wars-darth-plagueis-snoke-theory/ Lucasfilms Continuity Guru, Pablo Hidalgo, has put to bed a fanboy theory: Snoke is NOT Darth Plagueis So there is that
  9. the moral of the story is, people want to watch good baseball. they do not like watching s***ty baseball.
  10. So on Agents of SHIELD they discussed the Sokovia Accords last night, as well as Cap and Stark. So it seems like they still may look SHIELD back into the MCU even though they have said they arent planning on doing that
  11. well i hate to see anyone get injured, but stitches in the lip/mouth is preferable to pretty much anything else i can imagine from diving into the stands
  12. Saladino not looking too hot against Hamels
  13. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 11, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) Or he cost us our challenge in the 4th inning on a HBP.. Which he just did. Farrell showed you dont need a challenge. You can just tell the umpires they will review it, and they will
  14. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 11, 2016 -> 02:07 PM) Navarro better not be lying .....or what? He will be sorry?
  15. LAWRIE Abreu should run over and hit him in the helmet
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 11, 2016 -> 12:16 PM) I count 3 guys, and it's a doubleheader so 3 more MLB hitters are on the bench today. While I agree with your second point, they have smoked the Pirates, Cards, and Nationals too. So far they fall into the mediocre category, i wouldnt count that as a good win
  17. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 11, 2016 -> 12:08 PM) Obviously it was a confluence of factors that led to blowing the lead but trying to "steal" an inning with Carroll was the 1st action that set the whole chain of events in order. I didn't know that Petricka was on the DL prior to the game but that said I still feel that RV was managing like he was playing the Twins or even the Royals instead of a really quick hitting offense like Texas. Carroll should have been on the shortest of f***ing leashes and in retrospect Albers was rushed into the game. RV just seems to be on "cruise control" at times. Not sure if that's because he puts so much trust (and authority) into cooper or what but he should have been much quicker to act last night imo. That said, Carroll and Sands have no place on a MLB roster. Carroll had zero command last night and was just hanging meatball after meatball over the zone when he was getting it over. come on man, basically the entire pen besides Carroll pitched the night before. Albers came in and was out of gas, Robertson and Nate were basically not available. Did you want Jennings to come in? We are looking at Carroll as the only guy who didnt pitch the night before, everyone else was pretty much on fumes
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 11, 2016 -> 11:27 AM) 1) On the road in Texas, where no lead is ever safe...don't think I'd say that about any other stadium, maybe Wrigley when the wind's blowing out. 2) The best hitters on the Rangers were due up. 3) You had the feeling all game long, especially after Desmond's homer and then the Sox only scoring one and leaving the bases loaded (again) that it was really going to play like a 3 run lead. 4) He pitched himself into high leverage and needed to be pulled after the first or definitely the second batter reached. Mazara and Odor have simply been crushing the ball recently. You can't have a guy who crushes RHP from the left-hand side of the plate teeing off on Carroll. I think I said in the middle of that at-bat I wish he'd just give up a homer and cut the lead down to 2 because those situations have a way of continuing into huge innings as opposed to clearing the bases with a homer and having to start over. It's like the line-up keeps growing more and more confident as you keep the line moving and the pitcher can never relax with all those runners on base every time he looks around. If it was 6-7 runs, you don't worry. But 5 or under, well, anything can and will happen. lmao. just stop
  19. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 11, 2016 -> 10:47 AM) Greg, just so we are clear here: If a man with a penis identifies himself as a woman and is dressed as a woman, technically he/she should piss next to you at the urinal, correct? Or would you hold it and use a different bathroom? i have asked him multiple times and he has yet to answer. It all goes back to OMG THERE IS A PENIS IN THE WOMENS ROOM. I wonder if he feels a woman transitioning to a man should have to tell everyone about the female parts before taking a pee? We just need to make a Customs-like kiosk in front of every bathroom in the united states, where everyone has to declare what is in their pants.
  20. First thing that will happen is the Twins will be accused of hacking/changing the strikezone for the opposing pitchers starting around the 7th inning
  21. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 11, 2016 -> 09:55 AM) Nope. I've tried to be more positive lately, but this matchup looks really bad for the Sox on paper IMO. Mmmhmmmm
  22. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 11, 2016 -> 09:46 AM) I don't have a good feeling about today. Latos + warm weather + a dangerous lineup = disaster I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see it. Do you make this post in every game thread
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 10, 2016 -> 05:41 PM) Cause the person who wants in the women's bathroom merely is saying he "identifies" with being a female. Why should a person with still has the male body part be allowed in where women/girls might have to see such body part? Shouldnt' he be the one who is inconvenienced a bit? Or is he afraid of how he's dressed might cause backlash in the mens room. If anybody hassles him, they should be arrested. No. I wouldn't try to kick anybody out of any restroom. All you do is come up with random crazy scenarios where a woman or young girl might see a "male part". No matter what you say, it all comes back to the fact that you can't imagine a penis being in a woman's bathroom. Because we all know, as soon as you enter a woman's bathroom, everyone strips naked and walks around until they go to the bathroom.
  24. QUOTE (Dunt @ May 11, 2016 -> 08:19 AM) Still think the bullpen could use an upgrade. Would love to see the Sox go after one of the Yankees relievers, Chapman in particular. Thats a pipe dream, man. Chapman is gonna be their guy until he cant throw 100 anymore
  25. I like when these threads pop up in the heat of the moment after a ugly loss, and they determine that the ugly loss means everything now and forever
