way too elaborate to be a cover up. I dont think the FBI would show up and be complicit with something like that

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 07:39 PM) I truly don't watch a lot since the first month, as it was so aggravating seeing other teams play awful. Typically I only watch mlb.com highlights or last few innings of a game. With that said, he easily could be the best. Talking a possibly 30 homer hitter with elite SS defense. I will be shocked if he's not 2nd best of their young guys after Bryant. Dude, come on. COME ON. We all see this thread.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 01:41 AM) I saw today somebody on the Indians hit a home run and drilled it pretty good and some fan in the second row of the bleachers totally whiffed on catching it and it rocketed into the third row. There were people in the third row who didn't even see the ball because the uncoordinated slob totally missed the line drive homer. That ball woulda caused some injury (at least a big bump/bruise) had it hit the guy in the row behind the fan who committed the error. Obviously they can't put up nets in the outfield, but somebody today almost got drilled and there woulda been nothing they could really do about it. Easy to say this sitting at home watching on TV

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 04:06 PM) Didn't get to that part. Spent all day trying to get oil filter off. Went all over getting different tools. Not meant to be. Biggest waste of time on a nice day. Shouldn't need more than a old rag to get it off, those tools are for filters that have been on for quite a while. I found its best to drain the oil first before I take off the filter, the suction isn't bad and the filter usually comes off easy. Sometimes the angle is a b**** though

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 09:50 AM) Actually the guys doing the picks have done pretty darn well with the pitching lately, but that doesn't make it less than a lottery ticket. And a AAA player is certainly not the guarantee you are trying to convince everyone it is. I would much rather get a player in the top two rounds than get some AAA player a team is trying to ditch in order to put this version of Samardzija in their rotation

@BradBiggs: #Bears are expected to place QB Zac Dysert on waivers. @BradBiggs: #Bears have informed TE Gannon Sinclair he will be placed on waivers. Was claimed from Arizona earlier this week. @BradBiggs: #Bears have informed LB Jonathan Anderson he will be placed on waivers. Good candidate to return to practice squad after solid preseason. @BradBiggs: #Bears have informed OLB David Bass he will be placed on waivers. Could return to practice squad if he clears. 4-3 DE fit as well. @BradBiggs: #Bears have informed OL Michael Ola he will be placed on waivers. He started 12 games last season. @BradBiggs: #Bears have informed LB Matthew Wells, acquired in trade with #Patriots, that he will be placed on waivers. @BradBiggs: #Bears will waive/injured WR AJ Cruz, who suffered a sprained ankle in practice on Tuesday. @AaronLemingNFL: Hearing some rumbling that OLB Willie Young could be on his way out. Nothing confirmed yet, though. #Bears

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 04:47 PM) How many people in this thread treat the comp pick as the next sure fire Spencer Adams? I think it's 100% fair to be down on it and to point out that there's a good chance whoever the comp pick is, if there even is one, will never do as much as Adams has already done and to keep pointing that out. The average fWAR of comp picks, as pointed out in this thread, over their career, is 2, meaning probably more than 1/2 of them produce less than that. I would take a guy established at AAA over an unnamed comp pick almost any time. And that doesn't even factor in the fact that a guy at AAA or AA can help us within a year or two while a comp pick won't even be in our system until next year and could take 5 years to get to the bigs, if that even happens. So if you're looking for those, it's nice, but it's a long-term rebuilding asset, not something that helps in the near future. And if the team was so on a roll that you believed in them enough after 7 wins against 2 of the worse teams in the AL, then you should have added something to the roster to help it. Then again, the old lesson of "You're never as good as you look when you're on a roll and you're never as bad as you look when your'e in your worst slump" seems to be another of those lessons our FO has failed to learn. On the flip side you treat this pick like its a piece of s*** that you want no part of. It's a lottery ticket and hopefully you find someone that can develop rather quickly and become a contributor. And save me the story about how you don't trust the people making the pick. I know

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 03:25 PM) How dare some of you criticize me for not listening to your stats of how crime is going down! I just read that this recent spat of murders in Chicago has set some kind of record with Wednesday being the deadliest day in 12 years with eight gun murders! Yeah, crime is really going down. Chicago is a damn warzone!! We dare because you are well known to make grandiose unfounded misinformed statements based on one story you read. -
QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) Seems like Dockett would be a perfect match. He doesnt have a troubled history does he? I really have no idea. He says a lot of dumb stuff on twitter

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 12:36 PM) Would it be normal to have to issue a subpoena/compel testimony from a witness in a case like this? Generally that seems weird to me, I'd figure they'd just normally ask a witness to speak to the investigators, but I'm not certain how things go in this type of case. I have no idea what is normal in these cases, but it seems like everything about the investigation has been abnormal from the get go

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 09:06 AM) You really think Kaplan has White Sox sources that he is serving? If the team wanted something leaked he is about the last guy I think it would come from. i bet his source is Samardzija if it is anyone

The Bears better be looking at the waiver wire pretty hard for O-Line. Ducasse and Leno arent gonna cut it

QUOTE (glangon @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 07:39 AM) How can he further damage his stock. He's given up 102 earned runs so far this season. No other starting pitcher has given up more. If you were a GM, would you want to give up a draft pick to sign Shark on a multi-year deal? I wouldn't. The smart thing for the Shark to do is to accept the QO and have a rebound year and try and get a good multi-year offer the following year, a year where Cueto, Price and Kazmir are not available without the cost of a draft pick. I have that sinking feeling that we are stuck with the Shark for another year and at a lot more money. By repeating this season
-
QUOTE (glangon @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 07:29 AM) $14 million odd over one year says that he'll cope. 14 million next season with the chance to further damage your stock, as opposed to taking a multi year free agency deal? I dunno, I think he has been looking at his chance at free agency for a long time, and with how bad it has been on the Sox i really dont see him sticking around,
-
QUOTE (glangon @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 07:11 AM) There is a worse scenario than that. If we offer Shark the Qualifying Offer and he accepts. Think about it, he is currently the worst pitcher in baseball (according to number of earned runs given up). He has given up more earned runs (200) than any other pitcher in all of baseball. Who in their right mind would give up a compensation pick and £10 million a year for the worst pitcher in baseball. The Shark is not stupid. By accepting the Qualifying Offer, he gives himself another year in the shop window to show what he can do and encourage teams to overpay for him. The market for starting pitchers is extensive this off-season and the Shark knows, he's not going to get anything near what he thinks he is worth, especially when you can get Price, Cueto or Kazmir without giving up a comp pick. The Sox will offer him a QO and I would not be surprised if he accepts it and we are lumbered with him for another year. That would be a LOSE / LOSE If he dislikes cooper this much, it is highly doubtful that he accepts

haha, I get it now. That is pretty funny

QUOTE (DaveBrown85 @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 08:31 PM) I have't like him ever since he plunked Konerko. Didn't like the trade when it happened. This might be the first thing that I was completely annoyed by something Kaplan said. I guess Muhsin Muhammad was right when he said Chicago is where receivers go to die LOL what?

QUOTE (The Gooch @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 11:55 AM) They shouldn't have the right to look at his phone. Look at what happened when he gave up his other phone, texts leaked about his pool and some stuff he said about Peyton Manning. Maybe he was trying to hide something on the phone and it wasn't even related to deflated footballs. He shouldn't be suspended for not giving up his phone. I wouldn't give my phone to my boss. Isnt this his NFL issued phone, though? If your company gives you a phone, I think you would have to give it to your boss if he said to give it to him QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 12:24 PM) When it goes to the arbitrator, the arbitrator is supposed to be fair and unbiased, not one side in a negotiation. The federal judge isn't acting as the arbitrator here but a step beyond. And the arbitrator should not be the same guy that issued the punishment that caused the arbitration

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 09:20 AM) The first step is to pay attention. This is a terrible thing to think though, this is thinking only of yourself and nobody around you. If your 5 year old is in the middle of a crowd of people where the ball is coming to, and has no idea what is going on and takes one in the face, do you say "you should have been paying attention"? You cant just sit back and say "I brought my glove and i pay attention" and think that is good enough.
