White Sox sign Matt Albers
QUOTE (shysocks @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 03:52 PM) At the risk of sounding like a s***-head, I have to take issue with people characterizing this move as "low risk, high reward." First of all, such a signing is inherently impossible - that's not how risk and reward work. Second, I would not call Matt Albers a "high reward" guy. That would imply some kind of big upside, but realistically, the most we'll get out of Albers is a pretty good groundballing middle reliever. And while that'd be lovely, it's not going to change the outlook of the team. Left shark you are such a s***-head

QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 01:47 PM) He is not going to survive this. He repeated the story too many times. The next six weeks will be basically on screen auditions for his replacement. Wasn't Lester Holt a former Chicago guy? Longtime chicago guy

10 questions going into Spring Training
It doesnt really seem like the White Sox have been overly concerned about anyones arb clocks in the past couple years. They have been fast tracking high draft picks wherever they could

Hawk on the Score with Mully & Hanley this morning
QUOTE (Lillian @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 12:34 PM) None of you have commented on what was, at least for me, the most interesting and debatable thing that he said. He asserted that Beckham was the best defensive second baseman in the League. He also said that he was the best at turning the double play. Many on this board would disagree, vehemently. Even the notion that he might be the starting second baseman raises questions. Hawk said that Sanchez could not cover the ground, or throw like Beckham. Thoughts? Sounds like everything he has been saying about Beckham for his entire time in a white sox uniform

Hawk on the Score with Mully & Hanley this morning
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 10:04 AM) I bet you would feel different if Hawk dissected baseball games these days like Brian Kenny. And even if you don't give him credit for what others did, he still came out ahead from what was left him. Come on now, this is ridiculous

UNC Shootings....Hate Crimes or Random Targeted Violence?
QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 09:26 AM) Some of his (facebook?) postings that various news sources have run with are kind of questionable when you put this and that together, but news sources have a way of making that kind of stuff work for their stories. That said- does it even matter whether or not this was a hate crime? It was a triple homicide. yea, this guy was unstable, religion or not. The neighbors had meetings about him, he used to walk around showing off his gun and make vague threats.

Hawk on the Score with Mully & Hanley this morning
Hawk came on the score this morning at 7:35, im sure the podcast will be up later. He had a lot of his normal platitudes(best offseason by a GM i have ever seen, etc.), but one thing stood out to me, he said that he does not think Hahn is done. You can say a lot of things about hawk(many of them true), but he DID call this offseason last year. Here is to hoping he continues to be right

10 questions going into Spring Training
QUOTE (VAfan @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 12:23 AM) As we approach Spring Training, a lot of things are set for the Sox. We know our top 3 starting pitchers. Eaton, Cabrera, Abreu, LaRoche, Garcia, Gillaspie, Ramirez, and Flowers are all pretty set as starters. Robertson is our closer. Wells and Jennings have strengthened our bullpen. Bonafacio is making the team in some capacity. So what hasn't been answered? Here are 10 questions that need to be answered. 1. Who's going to emerge as our starting second baseman? Sanchez, who ended last season there? Micah Johnson, the speedy lefty? Bonafacio, who's probably better in a utility role? Saladino, who's coming off injury? Or even Gordon Beckham, in a bid for the Sox to torture us once again after we thought we were done with him? 2. Who is going to stick at backup catcher? Soto? Brantly? Nieto? Kottaras? 3. Will Jesse Crain be healthy enough to help us this year? Will Nate Jones? (This is a two-fer.) 4. How will the Sox deploy Carlos Rodon? Will he stay in the minors long enough to give another season of control? When will his major league debut be? Will be in the bullpen, or as a starter? Will he displace Nieto or Danks if he starts? 5. Gillaspie and LaRoche don't hit lefties very well. Who subs for them? Seems like Bonafacio and Beckham are both candidates to platoon with Gillaspie. But what about LaRoche? 6. Who is going to be our 4th (or 5th) outfielder (assuming Bonafacio will also sub in the outfield a fair amount). 7. How does the rest of the bullpen shake out behind Robertson and Wells? 8. Will these players all be healthier this year? Adam Eaton? 123 games. Avisail Garcia? 46 games. Jose Abreu? 145 games. Chris Sale? 26 games, 174 innings. 9. Will guys like Matt Davidson and Eric Johnson get their careers back on track to where they can be seen at least as future help, if not being ready to help this year? 10. Who else are the Sox going to add to help the club in 2015? Answer all 10, or pick and choose which ones you like, or add some others. Should be an interesting season! Isn't Nate going to be rehabbing for the first half of the season? I thought he wasn't to be expected until June at the earliest because of his TJ surgery

LLWS Thread
QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 12, 2015 -> 08:15 PM) They didn't circumvent them. The adults did. I know dude, I don't blame the kids. It sucks that their parents and coaches cheated, but it happened. The kids shouldn't have played together

LLWS Thread
QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 12, 2015 -> 02:48 PM) What part of the kids didn't make the decision to join the team and probably were not fully aware of the boundary rules so they aren't necessarily the cheaters yet bear the brunt of the punishment don't you understand? Again, not so cut and dry. The punishment doesn't fit the crime when the kids are largely innocent. There are so many layers though. There are a lot of kids affected by this, not just JRW. like the teams that got smoked by JRW on the way to the LLWS. Bottom line is these kids did not qualify to play on this team based on the boundary rules that they circumvented. They are not eligible to play on this team.
