  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 09:25 AM) The problem is that the bowls make so much money for people that you can't just get rid of them or downgrade them. The biggest obstacle is keeping all those bowl execs happy. I dont really see why they have to get rid of OR downgrade them. They need to be incorporated into the playoff(first round tostidos bowl/orange bowl, second round Sugar Bowl/Cotton bowl, Championship game Rose Bowl) , and then everyone that isnt in the playoff maintains the lesser bowls(blahblah.com bowl) like normal
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 09:05 AM) We all know why everyone hated ND there. Same reason we are talking about this now. While the other ranked teams are looking at 2-3 more tough games on their schedule, ND was barely beating Wake Forest at home. This will all get take care of when we can move to an 8 team playoff. Hopefully that is put in to place very quickly after the 4 team playoff. But I have a feeling they will drag their feet
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 08:39 AM) Not sure about an upswing. They've been here before. Lynch is what Big Ben was at Miami. Good enough to win a good bowl game, but not the BCS IMO. I mean the program is gaining a little traction now, a little national hype. Sure they have been here before, but now they are starting to get noticed and remembered. They have been a good program for a while, but the last two years has been different
  4. QUOTE (SexiAlexei @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 08:11 AM) I don't know if I'm "salty" toward NIU. I just really don't need to see them get humiliated in another BCS game. It's great that they're doing so well, but last year kind of proved they are what they are, and they don't belong with the big dogs. That doesn't mean their fans can't enjoy their wins, just don't go overboard with it. By using this rationale, does that mean that Notre Dame should never get a BCS shot again? They got humiliated in the championship game after running the table, so therefore they will never be better than that and can never become better?(and yes, I know they have a history, and they have won Bowl games) Programs evolve. NIU is on the upswing right now, they could turn themselves into something special. Getting a shot at BCS games by playing within the rules set before them always seems to be held against the lesser teams, I dont get that.
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 11:12 PM) For saying you don't moderate fairly. But honestly, I've always read your username as Kylie. I'm sure Jason will bring up moderation technique as a job skill I need work at in our yearly review. Your critique is noted and will provide a good discussion.
  6. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 11:03 PM) Absolutely nothing has given me that idea so far. *Banhammer in 3....2....1.... You think I would ban you for calling me "Kylie?" Lol
  7. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 11:01 PM) I was giving you a chance to pretend to be fair. Whatever gave you the idea that I was, golden child?
  8. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 10:53 PM) Paging Kylie.....paging Kylie please... I was waiting for "boom, reported"

  10. Jordan Lynch puts the icing on the cake by trucking a ball state safety for the insurance touchdown
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 02:56 PM) Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 30m Scott Boras said interest in free agent Jacoby Ellsbury is "far more than normal for elite players." Boras sayin Boras things
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 01:00 PM) Can he? I'm not so sure about that Conte and Wright are pretty bad. I would take the gamble
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 12:50 PM) I for one would be pumped to add another aging veteran playing like a shell of their former selves. How about if that shell of a former self still can outplay Conte and Wright?
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 12:47 PM) Do the Bears have any money left after Ratliff? they probably have a little left. I just read any team that picks him up would owe him 412 K for the season and 62K per game played
  15. Anyone interested in a little Ed Reed? http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9965883/...release-ed-reed
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 11:57 AM) Fine, then 32 homers over 4 years. And you're assuming he won't ever get injured again playing an unfamiliar position in 1B. So if the White Sox announced that instead of Abreu, they'd signed Joe Mauer for the 2014-2018 seasons at a price tag of $115 million (plus bonuses/incentives for MVP, All-Star games, etc.), would you be happier with that than the Abreu deal? Paying for his age 31, 32, 33, 34 and 35 seasons. I would assume the injury risk would be much greater at catcher. And it seems the player and team are thinking the same way. Of course a freak injury like a groundball or linedrive off the knee is possible, but it isnt like he is in the catchers crouch or dealing with home plate collisions regularly while playing 1B

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 11:18 AM) Prequel to SOA that starts 2 years after the show? I think he meant the series would start 2 years after SOA ended
  18. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 10:03 AM) He told Mully and Hanley early this season that he intended to keep the 4-3. His reasoning was that the 3-4 requires that big nose tackle/space eater in the middle and those types are just too hard to find. Well, he did just sign Jay Ratliff. Although it is highly doubtful that Ratliff regains his previous form, and stays past this season
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 10:00 AM) Has Washington been active for a game yet? I was really excited about him but seems like he must be pretty raw/terrible. He has been playing. Just hasnt done anything that has stood out. I have seen a few comcast segments where they point out how he is out of position
  20. QUOTE (Boogua @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 09:53 AM) Jeez. I just did some research after you said this and it looks like 7 or 8 out of the 11 starters on defense this year will be a FA. I wonder if Emery tries to shift to a 3-4 or more of a hybrid defense now that most of the cover 2 personnel will be off the books. Yep. Emery can literally do whatever he wants after this season, take the team in whatever direction he sees fit schematically and personnel wise.
  21. Its also kind of funny/weird that the owner of the team builds the stadium, puts his name on it, and gives the team only a 20 year lease.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 09:28 AM) That would be so awesome. It would be, but I think the illinois politicians would have a stroke
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 09:27 AM) IIRC, even with Peppers's contract on the books fully...the Bears will have well over $30 million in cap space going into the offseason. If they want to retain Cutler they have plenty of room to do so and should be able to make a number of other decent additions as well. I dont know about that. There are a lot of key players off the books next season, like over half the team. It is gonna be a crazy offseason
