Guys, this deal is getting done. A-Rod wants to go to Boston, just because talks have ended for right now does not mean the deal is dead by any means. Nomar will be a White Sox by next week. (If not sooner.) CWSOX45

I'd rather trade him to Seattle, I f***IN hate Danny Evans. Plus I also like what Seattle has to offer to, Carlos Guillen, Randy Winn, Freddy Garcia, and Rafael Soriano. That would fill a lot of holes for us. Does Seattle still have interest in Nomar? CWSOX45 P.S. Don't get the idea I want to deal Nomar, this guy is f***IN awesome. We need him. Plus hopefully Valentin goes to Seattle.

Beastley, we understand why you are upset. However we have no idea why they would want to trade Maggs other than the fact that they said they can't afford to re-sign him. We'll just wait and see. Someone has got to get moved eventually. CWSOX45

Hey all- I haven't been posting much this off-season but have been keeping an eye on what's been going on around at the Winter meetings. As usual the Sox haven't done much except acquiring Juan Uribe. Here is where my question comes in, with all this talk of Maggs being dealt to Seattle how much does Garcia make a year? I also heard Rafael Soriano's name mentioned. If we got Soriano I wouldn't be as upset to see Maggs go. A pen consisting of Soriano and Marte is just disgusting. As for Garcia I heard that he becomes a free agent on the 20th if he is not offered arbitration, can anyone verify this? If we were to acquire Garcia, do you think the Sox would still pursue trading Konerko for Perez? With the acquisition of Weaver I heard Evans will be looking to move him for the best offensive player he can get. There's also the rumor that the Sox offered Ponson a 3 year 18 million dollar contract. I know it's highly unlikely the Sox will get two of these three guys let alone one. However I was wondering does anyone know anything about the contract status of Perez? CWSOX45

Isn't this the same Peter Gammons that predicted Kansas City would land Juan Gonzalez at the trading deadline? Gammons is an expert on the Red Sox and Yankees. I know he has been reliable in the past, however I won't believe that until it actually happends. CWSOX45
-
Come on, does anyone actually believe this? We don't need anymore position players, we need pitching. We need to get Colon back here or a replacement for the front of our rotation. CWSOX45
-
True, I'm still hoping that Colon will come back. Especially since the Yankees are working their tails off to get Vazquez from Montreal. CWSOX45

Valentin better not be our starting shortstop for 2004. Kenny move Valentin NOW! CWSOX45
-
Why would we sign Valentin to a ridiculous contract just to trade for a younger shortstop? I can't see Uribe being a utility guy, and if the Sox are serious about moving Jose to second I think I might vomit. I've said it since the day they re-signed Jose, and I'll say it again. Jose is not worth 5 million dollars a year. I don't know what the hell Kenny was thinking signing him to a contract like that. Especially when there are guys out there that could help us. (Colon, Castillo, and Hawkins.) I was hoping that this off-season would be different, however I again was wrong. Great job Kenny, Juan Uribe. The upcoming season already looks bright and promising. I wouldn't spend that type of money on him because I expect Flash to be injured before the end of the season. Than again it is the Yankees, and they don't seem to mind throwing money around. CWSOX45

I do. I posted something earlier in the off-season about where ESPN thinks all the free agents will go. The only one ESPN mentioned going to the Sox was Fernando Viña, and I pray to god that isn't true. CWSOX45

Phil Rogers talks Colon, Matsui, Konerko trade
CWSOX45 replied to Loaiza21's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I gotcha, if there is one guy that will take Konerko it would be the Dodgers and Danny Evans. Konerko was their number one pick in the draft several years ago. I hope we can get this deal done as well. CWSOX45 -

I dunno, I think there is a possibility of A-Rod going to Boston. Epstein shows he wants to win. Last I heard it would be a three way trade involving Anaheim, Boston and the Rangers. Boston would get A-Rod, Rangers would get Ramirez and pitching prospects, and Anaheim would get Nomar. Not sure how much the Rangers would pay for the remainder A-Rod's contract. All three of these clubs have money to spend, and they all want to win. I think it's still possible, even though it is considered unlikely. I think that it might just happen. CWSOX45 -

It doesn't matter, we're not getting Matsui anyway. Sorry but it's nothing but the truth. CWSOX45 -

That is encouraging, however I still think Bartolo will end up in New York. King George has probably gone apes*** now with the addition of Schilling, and if the Red Sox trade for A-Rod than it looks as if King George will overpay for Bartolo's services. We've seen it before, and unfortunately we're more than likely to see it again. CWSOX45 -
I think it's obvious what we need, Colon or Millwood. The question is will the White Sox spend the money to get either of them? The sad part is I think I know what the answer will be....... CWSOX45
-
Steinbrenner will probably offer Colon a s***load of money now. Schilling, Pedro....that's disgusting. This means Bartolo is most likely a Yankee. CWSOX45

I disagree, Harris hit .400 when he was in AAA. Granted Charlotte is a hitters park, but not all of those hits were bunt singles. I like Willie a lot, he brings intensity, he can run, he can field, he can BUNT. If there is a reason we need Willie in this line-up that ought to be it. I can't think of any guy that could consistantly get a bunt down besides Alomar, Harris and Rowand. If you can all remember, before we acquired Robbie Alomar, Willie was a main reason that we caught fire. He was batting lead-off and was finding anyway possible to get on base. In my honest opinion I think that Willie and Aaron were on the verge of proving themselves worthy of playing in the Majors. If the Sox do make a run at Tejada, I'd rather see an infield of Harris and Tejada rather than Valentin and Tejada. You can call me crazy all you want, but I'll take Willie Harris at 2B over Jose Valentin ANY DAY. Harris is much better defensively, and has a TON of range at second. (I know we did sign Valentin to a 5 million a year contract, but wasn't it rumored that he would go to LA with Lee for someone?) Willie has the potential to be our Juan Pierre. I have faith in Willie and I think he is going to develop into that lead-off hitter that we've been searching for. CWSOX45

What were Jeremy Brown's numbers from last year? Beane might just pull him up if he doesn't have another solution. However knowing Billy he's already thought it all out. CWSOX45
-
This is a good move, I've always like Bobby Kielty. With all the young arms coming through the minor leagues they don't need Lilly. Especially with guys like Blanton etc. CWSOX45

Isn't Olerud a free agent? I could be wrong, but I thought I heard that somewhere. CWSOX45

Amen. CWSOX45

f***! f***! f***! f***! AND f***! 5 f***s for 5 million dollars wasted. CWSOX45
-
That goes down the drain if we use the money on Valentin..... That Valentin rumor better not be true, we need to strengthen our bullpen and add another solid starter. CWSOX45
