QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 28, 2009 -> 11:22 AM) I got a refurbished one. When the say refurbished, they pretty much mean new. There is no difference at all. The refurbs are better I've heard, because they are inspected before they're shipped unlike the new ones.- Summer of '09 television thread
QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 04:40 PM) Bryan Fuller leaving Heroes again...there does any hope for that show.... What? Why? Crap the series has been amazing only when he writes for it. Other then that its been garbage.- Video Game Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 09:33 PM) I'll probably get a 360 for college.... but the problem is, I'm addicted to the show. The past week+ has been hell for me. Don't EVERYONE has a 360 in college so thats all youll end up playing in other peoples rooms/places. Just get a PS3 when the price drops.- If Pods gets recalled, will Fields change his #?

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 10:43 PM) I'm going to give poreda and that lineup a try. Except I think I'll put fields at 6 and Dye 3rd. What did you do in NL games? For me Konerko plays a mean 2B not the best range but he has not thrown anything away or botched one he could get to. Haha first game with that lineup retire the side 1-2-3. Then pods bunt single, and after 9 pitches a walk to ramirez then he quit. I can't hit but I can work walks its annoying.- Video Game Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) I was so close to Veteran status too before my ps3 took a powder. I had won 10 out of my last 11 (vs. mainly vets and a couple guys who were close to vet status), was 2-3 games away from vet status, and was all ready for a Saturday filled with MLB The Show online... So sad! I am sick at pitching, but like you, my hitting leaves something to be desired. However, I have been getting better recently and have been raising my average and averaged around 3-5 runs a game in my hot streak. Also, I realized I don't K a lot, maybe 5 times a game at the most. My lineup was pretty solid... 1. Pods, CF (the majority of the time I led off the game with a bunt single) 2. Ramirez, SS 3. Fields, LF (I purposely put Fields here because I like to waste my first inning and get easy outs just in case I face an ass who quits if he gives up a run in the first, and he's a good hitter in the game) 4. Thome, DH 5. Konerko, 1B 6. Dye, RF 7. Pierzynski, 3B (he's really good defensively at 3B in the game, but lacks range) 8. Castro, C 9. Beckham/Getz, 2B I'm going to give poreda and that lineup a try. Except I think I'll put fields at 6 and Dye 3rd. What did you do in NL games? For me Konerko plays a mean 2B not the best range but he has not thrown anything away or botched one he could get to.- Video Game Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 11:48 AM) Aaron Poreda is a beast in MLB The Show. A running fastball that can get up to 98 (averages around 95-96), a 2 seam fastball that can get up to 96, a good slider, and a sick changeup... As soon as Q comes back, I'll be dominating Online. Right now, I use Castro as my catcher, AJP at 3B, and Fields in LF with Pods in CF for maximum offensive output. When CQ comes back, I'll either move Fields to 2B and take out Beckham or take out Casto. Last night I played a 20 inning game vs some kid who was the cubs. 0-0 until the top of the 20th and Alexei hit a 2 run homer. Richard shut them down in the bottom of the 20th for the 2-0 win. I can't hit for s*** but I can pitch with the best of them. I use Danks, and love him.- Quentin "one bad step" from being lost for season
QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 10:49 AM) So every batter who comes up with a .180 batting average has a "reasonable" chance of getting a hit each and every time. Ok. Reasonable chance of getting a hit, and reasonable chance of getting to the world series are two complete opposites. It's pretty obvious that a major league ball player has a better chance of getting a hit in any one at bat then any team getting to the world series does in anyone season. Basically I'd jump on an 18% chance at getting to the world series, but I'd back away from an 18% chance of any player getting a hit. As would everyone on this board.- Game Thread: 6/20 Richard (2-1) @ Cueto (6-4) 6:10CDT CSN/MLN

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 02:09 PM) It's too bad I took the time to back up my points with data, because apparently you were just interested in flaming my post. I love the way nearly every opinion like this essentially ends with "because I think so" or "I have _____ opinion" He was arguing the hottest team going into the playoffs usually makes the series. Not that the worst team does it. Why do you think wildcard teams make the world series so often? Because usually the Wild Card race is extremely close so the team that wins that is usally hot going into the playoffs. Other then that we have a month and a half before the deadline to decide if we want to blow this team up or not. It doesn't have to begin right now. This team especially the pitching staff is showing signs of life so lets see what happens.- HOLY THEOLOGY
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 07:58 PM) Hahaha. Who is this guy? Bryce Harper is the Steven Strasburg of hitting. Now that he is in the 2010 draft the Nationals will pick the 2 best prospects ever in back to back drafts.- Idea for comment: Obtaining another front line right handed SP
QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 12:07 AM) I have not seen either thrown out here as acquisition ideas. Both carry some form of risk but high reward. Let´s look at some facts: 1. Rich Harden when he is on is one of the best strikeout pitchers in all of baseball and normally is good for 6-7 innings. Very fragile as the 3-4 trips to the DL in the past 2 years with the Cubs will show.Do we make a play for him before the trading deadline? We have a trading chip or two now including an offensive need the Cubs want (Dye) or maybe omething centered around releif pitching (Dotel)) and a AA player. Either way if KW were to g after Harden do you wait until he is a FA at the end of the year and offer an incentive based contract based on health and performance? There is not much on Harden but what little there is does not conclusively indicate he wants to return to the Cubs 100% nor have they publicly commited to discussing an extension. I wonder if they are content to let him walk and pick up the draft picks as either a type A or B? Harden has obvious AL experience. 2. randon Webb is hurt with shoulder issues and no short term return date has been published that I could find. He as opposed to Harden has been an innings eater and already has a Cy Young award. When on his sinker would be lights out at the Cell. I have seen a couple of other forums posts that he may be expendable later this year if the DBacks have a fire sale which looks likely if they continue to slide. He has a team option for 2010 but if KW were to explore this route he should wait until right before the trade deadline (Depends whtere we are and whether we are buyers or sellers). DBacks pulled a 3 year extension so there might be real damage to his shoulder. Are either worth the risk of exploring a trade/extension? Thoughts? You mean 5-6 innings for harden? No to harden/Yes to webb- Conan show thread
