Official 2009-2010 NCAA Basketball Thread

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 10:16 PM) ISU could beat Illinois in Wii basketball, perhaps. I really wish they scheduled each other just once. A home and home over two years. Not saying ISU would win just saying it would be really fun, and that ISU could potentially pull off an upset at Redbird Arena. -
80-2

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 20, 2009 -> 08:17 PM) Nope, no longer living in Normal, but I have heard that Carmichael could really contribute and that he is fantastic off the dribble. Yep he looked awesome huge and athletic, and anyone who could hang with Osiris in a dunk contest is obviously special. Carmichael jumped from about a foot in front of the free throw line to score a 50, but then Osiris matched it by jumping over someone. -
I got 15 right. All of the 2000's and Wells, and Johnson in the 90's and Thomas, Ventura, and Mcdowell in the 80's. I spent at least 3 minutes trying to spell Kyle Mcculloch

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 17, 2009 -> 10:58 AM) Real excited for Osiris' senior year. Maybe this will be the year he gets the birds over the hump and into the dance. He seems to be absolutely fired up, and motivated to do awesome this season judging by some of his recent facebook statuses. Did you go to Hoopfest on Friday? I think we got something special in Jackie Carmichael. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 16, 2009 -> 12:13 PM) "Flash Forward" was top notch last night. Like the John Cho character and how he is dealing with his future. The first scene in slow motion was well done as well. Also my favorite character from Lost seems to be playing a key role(not penny). I didn't even know he was ever casted to be in this.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 18, 2009 -> 09:39 AM) ND still has to play BC, Pittsburgh, UConn, and Stanford. I expect them to lose 1, maybe 2, of those games. If they lose 2 of them, Charlie is going to be sent packing. HE GONE Well I expect them to win all of those games and even if they lose 1 its kind of hard to fire their coach after a 9-3 season, and if anyone needs to go its John Tenuta I'm sick of him, he has the players and the defense still sucks. But if Notre Dame is so lucky and the joke program you make it out to be then why did your powerhouse football program only beat us by 7 on the last play of the game? -
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Oct 18, 2009 -> 08:59 PM) Keep up defending the coverage of this guys, I feel like you really proved me wrong. There was the thought that a 6 year old was in a balloon. What if he really was in it and the media just said f*** it its just a hoax? What exactly would you rather have had them cover Thursday afternoon. No planes landed in the Hudson as far as I know.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 17, 2009 -> 06:24 PM) The refs tried so hard to get ND to win. This is why people hate them. I'm so glad Weis is their coach. He is going to continue to be mediocre and Notre Dame will remain irrelevant. Yeah the Pac-10 refs tried really hard to give the game to the not pac10 Irish. Makes complete sense. USC played dumb they shouldn't even have forced the refs to decide to make those calls, and should have buried ND when they had the chance. -
If my kid is missing that attic is one of the first places I'm going to check. And even if it isn't I'm going to do it before 3 hours pass. Don't give me the crap about the son saying he got in the balloon, because I'd still check there especially after it turned out he was not in it.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 09:06 PM) Sorry about the sim. That was on accident. I try to stay up on when to sim and didnt notice the game wasnt played and wouldnt have been around to sim most of the day today. I think we need to have set sims. If you don't have your game played by that point then too bad.

I've seen around 10 of these and a couple like Miss March shouldn't be on here.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 08:09 PM) Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is one of my all time faves. Star Fox (If anything for the "Do a barrel roll!" line, which still cracks me up). Mario Kart 64 007: Goldeneye Perfect Dark Thats just what comes to the top of my head at the moment. Super Smash Bros.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 08:26 PM) I don't see 1P goldeneye being a lot of fun anymore. I've been enjoying Paper Mario lately. Well mainly because the multiplayer is what made that game epic and still does. Even though the single player is still awesome.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 10:37 PM) that angry smiley face you put on the madden board put me over the top Not gonna lie that angry smiley would put me over the top too. It's one of the most powerful smilies I've ever seen on a message board haha

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 11:16 AM) Adrian Peterson has gotten injured in 4 of the last 5 games. Mix it up a bit, Madden. Willie Parker got injured 4 times in my last game.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Oct 11, 2009 -> 08:04 PM) Tell me about it. I play with the Bears and they are built nothing like my dynasty. I made an offline dynasty and just made some trades before I started it. I left the offensive line and copied my team to practice with. That's a great idea I'm going to do that.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 08:53 PM) My notes on the game. I actually consider myself to have a pretty balanced offense. I was taking what was given to me and the linebackers playing man on Felix wouldnt cut it so I couldnt resist. I forgot his name but I know your cb on Calvin was an ideal matchup for you because he had speed and size but if I got in trouble I could have flipped wrs and more than likely had 6 on any deep route on your backside corner (ie last game against browns) but didnt feel the need. There are also about 10 plays I could have run with Harvin in the slot that are guaranteed 10 yards but didnt want to exploit because its kind of cheap and I try to play as fair as possible, especially in terms of 4th downs and stuff and coverage mismatches. In terms of my defense, the wildcat was a little frustrating because I think you ran it about 15 times and they were all the same play and I knew where it was going and couldnt stop it (except on 4th and 1). The key to the game was when I figured out your bread and butter play, the in to Robiskie, and baited you into the ints by dropping my DE into coverage whenever you came out in 3 WR sets because that was the only play I noticed you running out of that formation. I also knew once you abandoned the run I could sit tight in my cover 2 and let Michael Johnson create havoc. As far as the "running up the score" I much would have preferred to drain the clock but IMO 10/10 players would prefer the opportunity to create turnovers on defense then to sit there while I run the clock the entire 4th quarter. I realize in these situations teams are going to be blitzing so I continue to do what I would in any situation and expose flaws in the defense and if it leads to points so be it. On another note. Roethlisberger dinked and dunked 30/40 for 445 with 8 tds and 0 ints this week with Calvin Johnson receiving 7 of those for 206 yards and 4 tds. Michael Johnson and Darrell Revis are staking their claims for DPOY as Johnson registered sacks 19-26 and Revis had 3 picks with 2 tds to tie him for the league lead in ints with his teammmate Mayo. I'm a bit drunk right now so I am going to try to respond to this. There isn't a CB in the league who can match up with Calvin not one so don't even say I had the ideal match up and I'm actually kind of surprised that you didn't go to him more often because if I had him I would abuse him. Your offense was not balanced at all as all you did was run the ball or throw it to the TE or RB out of the backfield. If you get more then 38 yards from your WR's then maybe you could talk. I just really hate the TE and RB out of the backfield gameplan because it is really hard to stop that no matter what defense you run. Yes I think if I would have ran the wildcat more in the beginning I would have been fine because you could not stop it at all except for the 4th and 1. But like you I didn't want to be cheap because I know from experience that the wildcat is next to impossible to stop so I didn't run it a lot until I got down by a score or two. And once I got behind I had to throw the ball a lot which lead to interceptions even though a couple of those were downright awful and I am mad at myself for even thinking about throwing the ball to those receivers. Other then that I couldn't care less that you ran the score up because like you said I would rather create turnovers then watch you kneel it(I seriously hate people who kneel it). I myself would try to run the score up. I was just trying to justify the score as being 27-3 because for most of the game it was close until the end and it was more like 17-3. Other then that no hard feelings you outplayed me and deserved to win. I need to get better and would really love it if they allowed you to take these teams and practice with them outside of the game because it is a wierd combination of players for me and Willie Parker is not my kind of running back.
-
Well I lost to drunkbomber 26-3 but the score got run up a bit at the end. Anyone who plays him he abuses his backs out of the back field and his tight ends. He completed 6 passes for 38 yards to any of his Wide Receivers and most of those were WR screens. So not a down field passer.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 11:32 AM) My youth was wasted on Mario Kart. The Wii version is great. it's a solid option. Wii Sport Resort is pretty sold too. But the 64 version is better.
