QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) If Illinois State is anything close to a good team than a loss to Niagara at home is a bad loss. Don't believe I said it wasn't anywhere. I said Niagara was a solid team. Should ISU have beaten them yes, did they no. -

Theres how many mid majors in the nation? 220+? Ya and Niagara is ranked 11th http://www.collegeinsider.com/mmpoll/ So one of the better mid majors fits I'd say. Definitely a solid team. Instead of looking at their record why don't you watch them play. I didn't spin anything either we lost, because we played sloppy. I said bad calls didn't help but you can't let the refs beat you. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 12, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) MLB2K10 to blame for Take-Two's slump and losses. Good they deserve it for ending the greatest baseball game of all time.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 03:29 PM) Niagara has a Division 1 basketball program??? Ya one of the better mid-majors in the nation. Redbirds first loss of the season sloppy play and bad calls. It also doesn't help that Niagara shot 48% from the arch. -

Illinois State's first real test tomorrow(today) at Redbird Arena vs Niagara in the return game from last years bracketbuster's in which Niagara embarrassed us on National TV. Comcast channel 102 2pm in the Chicagoland area if any of you want to see an ISU game for once. I expect a win, but wouldn't be shocked if we lost because our play has been sloppy all year. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 07:25 PM) I'm really enjoying Flash-Forward. Still have to watch Friday Night Lights. Will probably watch it tomorrow. That show is so f***ing good. Too bad we have to wait until March for the rest of it. Same with V. Lost Feb 2nd.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 03:04 PM) Looks like Brian Kelly of Cinci is very close to being the new ND head coach... Ya and earlier today Kelly was staying put, and Randy Edsall was the odds on favorite. This thing changes by the hour, and Swarbrick has done an amazing job keeping his search away from the media. Everything so far has just been speculation by people and none of it is coming true. So I'm done reading the garbage thats out there, and I'll wait for the announcement. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 07:29 PM) My predictions looked smart...Harbaugh has been contacted about the ND job. I think he'd be a tremendous hire. Maybe not a big name to those not familiar with the Pac 10, but he's done a hell of a job at Stanford and is going to do some pretty big things. He's not Meyer or Stoops, but I think he's excellent and could actually be a better get than Kelly. Plus, having his pro connections should be helpful. He just said on Monday Night Countdown(he is in GB watching his brother) that he has not or will not talk to ND about the job and that he has not been contacted. The AD for Stanford also said that he is 99% sure Harbaugh will be at Stanford next year, and hes really good friends with Swarbrick. So the earlier rumor today about him interviewing along with Kelly looks to be false. -
Haha i looked all over for Gonzalez news, and read the entire article. Then I read this thread and went ohhhh

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Dec 6, 2009 -> 11:23 AM) what a classless remark from a classless guy leaving a worthless program. Here's to more years of getting your ass kicked by Navy, notre dame. Enjoy! http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/ncf/news/story?id=4719509 He basically used that as an example saying anything he does is national news, and if Pete Carrol does anything its not talked about. He didn't actually mean Carrol was sleeping with a grad student. Maybe before you say something like this you should read up on Charlie. He has been nothing but class since his firing, and nothing but class before that. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 03:20 PM) Uh no. Lets put this in perspective using Wisconsin as an example. Wisconsin finished 6th last year in the Big 10, meaning that all 3 MVC teams would have to have been better than Wisconsin. Wisconsin was 20-11, losing only 3 OOC games. Wisconsin's OOC losses were UConn (ranked #2), Marquette and Texas (ranked #8). Why do you believe that Creighton or UNI would have finished higher than Wisconsin? In comparison, Creighton lost to Arkansas-Little Rock and Nebraska OOC. Northern Iowa lost to Illinois Chicago, lost to Marquette by 30 (Wisconsin lost by 3), lost to Iowa by 19, lost to Wyoming and lost to Iowa State. So no, I dont believe there is any rationale argument that either of those teams could have finished higher than Wisconsin. Last year Wisconsin had: RPI Rank: 45 SOS Rank: 16 UNI: RPI Rank: 59 SOS Rank: 84 Creighton: RPI Rank: 40 SOS Rank: 111 Notice the difference in SOS. Wisconsin was 16 and had similar records to 84 and 111. Sorry to bring facts to this argument, but its getting ridiculous. . Funny because from the numbers you showed me Creighton has a higher RPI then Wisconsin. RPI MVC Creightin 40 ISU 47 Big Ten Minnesota 42 Michigan 44 Wisconsin 45 So according to your numbers the 2 and 3 Valley teams are right on par with the 3 lowest big ten tournament teams. I don't need SOS either it's already factored into RPI and of course a big ten team is going to have a higher SOS just due to conference play alone. -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 02:43 PM) Um, no. If you lose 9 or 10 games playing in the MVC like UNI and ISU did last year, you're not going to have a tournament-caliber resume in the Big 10. I give up like Rowand said you guys need to get off your high horse. The Valley in a down year last year had two teams in Creighton and UNI that would have finished higher then 7th in the Big Ten, with the potential for a 3rd in ISU who beat Creighton twice(easily both times) and lost to UNI 3 times by a combined 9 times. ISU's record just sucked because we s*** the bed twice vs Indy State. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 12:02 PM) And despite the bad losses to Utah and Bradley, I would still bet lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of my money that if Illinios and ISU played 10 games ISU would be lucky to win 1 (let's keep this retread argument rolling!) It just doesn't end does it? The argument of being lucky to win one is gone, you lost to Bradley and Utah. In a top 25 coaches poll done the same way the the real coaches poll is done just with mid majors coaches Illinois state is 5th.. Bradley and Utah are worse the ISU and Illinois lost to them two nights in a row. That alone is enough to tell me that ISU would win 2-3 games(but then again you guys would just blame them on Jordan getting to much PT). Rock and everyone else I'm not saying that the Valley should get the same amount of bids as the big conferences I'm just saying the the 2nd and 3rd teams in the Valley are better then the 6th and 7th teams in the Big Ten. So when the Tournament gets picked leave the 6th and 7th teams of the Big Ten out, and put in the 2nd and 3rd teams in from the MVC. You saying that the top MVC teams wouldn't be able to compete for the Big Ten is true(most years) but ISU, UNI, and Creighton could finish higher then 7th in the Big Ten which according to the committee last year is tourney worthy. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 08:39 PM) Name me team from a smaller conference that has had a great year that didn't get in the tournament. 4 mid majors got at large bids last year. 30 of the 34 at large bids went to power conference teams. There is no argument here. It's become impossible to get into the tournament if your not a power conference team unless you win your conference tournament. The regular season no longer matters. If your a power conference team you have to play your way out of the tournament, and a mid-major has to play themselves in. I hope the selection committee remembers the game Creighton gave Michigan, and the game Bradley beat U of I this march when the Valley gets one bid, and the Big Ten gets 7. Teams with great seasons should make the tournament, not mediocre teams. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 02:17 PM) We should never be worse than UNI and should never lose to them at home. It's not a bad loss. You guys and the selection committee painting it as bad loses make it impossible for the MVC or any other non power conferance to get more then one team to the tourney. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 01:00 PM) We do lead the nation in 3 pt percentage, but I want to say we shot like 14 of them. UNI took it to Brackins and Gilstrap and dominated. I thought McDermott was supposed to be an awesome big man coach? Northern Iowa is not a bad team. I just love seeing the MVC winning these non-conference games, but they'll still only get 1 bid for the tournament. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 03:01 PM) That's not saying a whole lot considering how bad it was in 2007. There was really nowhere to go but up. But KW and Co. recognized this was a major problem and took action. From managerial changes to an obvious change in drafting philosophy. It's still going to take a few years to recover from the putrid drafts of 2000-2006. And I was just pointing out the KW is doing exactly what he wanted him to do. Building a farm system.
