  1. The last half of this season of 24 might be some of the best television I have ever seen. I was admittedly getting bored of the show again in the first half of the season, but the show really took off again. I won't ruin the ending for anyone who hasn't seen it, but I was happy with it.
  2. 24 Finale tonight! Time to watch Jack kick some ass one last time

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 21, 2010 -> 05:19 PM) Just did Back and Biceps after going 5 days without working out due to my mom being in town to visit. Oh my. My arms are like jelly. Could barely lift the blender to make the recovery drink... So how is everyone coming along? Looks like Rock is doing his Insanity/P90X/One-on-One hybrid, LZ and the Gooch are still hanging with the program, and Gerry is kicking some ass on the Insanity. Everyone sticking with it pretty well? We need to continue to encourage eachother! Keep up the great work, fellas! Yeah still with it! I have less than 4 weeks left. I haven't been able to do it every single day of the week like when I started, but I'm still at it at least 4 nights a week. I have lost 6 or 7 lbs so far (I wasn't very overweight when I started the program, so I didn't expect much weight loss), but I have improved my overall fitness tremendously. Still thoroughly enjoy the workouts as well.

I'm not gonna lie you guys, if Insanity is that much harder than P90X plyometrics, I don't think I want anything to do with it lol. My stamina has greatly improved through the program, but plyo is still killer on the legs. They feel like jelly right now.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 17, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) Interesting, I didnt know that. I think that Sandra going after Russel is why she won. Sure she failed, but the only reason she did was that the people on the jury were to stupid to listen. Voting for her was their final chance at redemption against Russel. Russel should have never brought Sandra to the final 3, it would have been interesting if it was Jerri, Parvarti and Russel, but I still think that group leads to a Russel loss. Well yeah, then Parvarti wins, which is probably who should have won. The jury would vote for anyone over Russell.
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 17, 2010 -> 12:15 PM) The best player at winning the game was Sandra. The best players at controlling the game were Parvarti and Russel. The problem was that Russel does not understand how to win at survivor, not only that but at the end he gets so arrogant that he may have cost himself 2 titles. In his first season he should have taken some one besides Natalie, but Russel thought the jury would only care about who played "the better game". You would have thought in his second go around, Russel would have realized that some times winning is about not making enemies. Parvarti tried to tell Russel that Sandra was a threat and that they shouldnt take her to the final 3, but Russel wouldnt listen. You had to figure Sandra was going to get a good portion of the Hero vote because she was the only person who tried to take down Russel. I thought Parvarti had a shot, but knew Russel would probably not get a single vote. I actually think Parvarti deserved to win the most out of the 3 of them, just because every week she was one of the top targets. Even Russel considered getting rid of her. The reason why they voted for Sandra was because she was the only player who tried to stand up to Russel. In the end the heroes realized that had they listened to Sandra they would have had a chance to win. She was the only person from the Boston Rob alliance to last, and through out the game she made only 1 real enemy, Russel. Its the same reason that Colby couldnt have been in the last group. If you are a villain and you want to win, you better make sure the 2 other people up there are villains or people no one likes. Jerri, Parvarti and Russel was Russel's best chance. He only can blame himself. I'm with you on most of that. I don't think Russell should have won this season (although I think he should have won last season). I think Parvarti should have won. Sandra basically got credit for failing. She tried to get rid of Russel and align with the heroes, but she failed. The only reason she was there is because Russell thought she didn't do anything, which she basically didn't. Parvarti made key moves that actually worked, and didn't create enemies as much as Russell did. Her only mistake in the game was aligning herself with Russell, but if she didn't there is no way she makes it anywhere close to the end. Everyone was gunning for her and it was the only move she could make to stay in the game. I feel that she played the perfect game for the position that she was in and lost to someone totally undeserving. And as far as Russell changing his game this time around, he played back to back seasons, so he didn't know that he had lost last season yet, as the finale for that was after the taping of the most recent season.
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ May 16, 2010 -> 09:06 PM) Survivor continues to pull me in, than proves, every year, that it is a flawed show where the best player rarely wins. When it came down to the final three, I was torn as to who deserved to win this season, Russell or Parvarti. Then the votes come in and the only undeserving person sitting there wins. Sandra wasn't a total coatailer rider like Natalie last season, but there is no way that she played better than the other two. I would like to hear some of their reasons for voting Sandra over Parvarti. Russel I can understand, but Parvarti played the best game that someone in her position could play and still lost. I guess the trick to winning the game is to do basically nothing, hope that luck brings you to the end, and since you didn't offend anyone they will all vote for you. I have no faith in the jury system anymore after this.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ May 13, 2010 -> 10:49 PM) I like Russell, but as many times as he plays Survivor, he will make the finals and never win. That said, he had a huge advantage this season because his season was airing when they were taping this one, so nobody saw him and if he does come back, he'll be gone right away. That stare Rupert gave Russell was deadly. Not sure how he knew Russell voted for him because they never showed the 4th vote and I only saw it during the credits. Parvati in black stretch pants rules! I think Russell deserved to win last time because the only way he (or anyone from his tribe) could have made it to the end is to play like he did. They went into the merge at a huge disadvantage and with anyone else but Russell they would have been toast. The other tribe should have respected that, but instead they were just bitter. This time around I think Parvarti deserves to win, but whether or not she will is yet to be seen.
  9. Russell's move to get Danielle out doesn't seem so dumb after this week. He still has no chance of winning because the jury won't vote for him, but it seems like he put himself in a better place to get to the finals.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 12, 2010 -> 10:27 PM) I started phase 2 this week, did Back & Biceps today so I have now done every video at least once. I don't really like using the bands, I'm trying to sell a guitar so I can buy adjustable dumb bells. I just got two of the individual golds gym bars because i had some weight lying around. They are a b**** to change weights on during the workout because you have to screw them on and off, so I don't change weights much within workouts (I also have 35 pound dumbells that I used for back and other select exercises).

So I know some of the people in here finished the program, but whos still going at it? I was off of it for almost two weeks because I went on vacation to Las Vegas and I got sick right after the trip for a few days. Picked it back up a couple days ago and am about to start week 9 tomorrow.
  12. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ May 12, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) I haven't given up on it, that show is ridiculously good There were a couple of episodes right after the first one that were somewhat lackluster, but the for the most part the season has been really good. Next week looks to be even better! And for the 24 people, I'm glad Jack Bauer is killing those bastards!
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 11, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) In exchange for getting a major peace treaty with a country in the middle east (i.e. imagine a peace deal with Iran involving full inspections of all their nuclear facilities and normalized trade and travel relations), if all I had to do was cover up some illegal activities by the Russians that I'm using as a negotiating tool, I'd do the exact same thing. That kind of peace treaty could be a world-changing event. Re-make the face of an entire region. Once you start having to torture people and have additional people eliminated to protect the coverup though, that's where I drew the line. Although I understand where you are coming from, these weren't just "some illegal activities". The Russians helped mastermind and fund the assassination of the key country's leader, and the President is willing to knowingly let his wife sign the treaty in his place with the same country that was behind the attack.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 11, 2010 -> 05:36 PM) Bah, up unto the point that the President ordered her tortured, I thought she was 100% correct. Please explain...
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 11, 2010 -> 08:18 AM) Really, killing him is the right way to end both this season and the series. They've really done a surprisingly good job of making you both kind of root for Jack, because you've been doing it for 10 years, and at the same time want the snipers to actually kill him because he's clearly wrong and gone off the deep end this season. It's an impressive twist. I don't think that he is wrong. The president covering all of this up and trying to contain him is wrong. He is just doing what the government won't do. And I never want the snipers to get him because I don't feel remorse for anyone that he is after. If he was hurting innocent people that would be another story, but these guys deserve what they get. As for the movie, the only angle I can see them playing (besides something from the past) is that Jack goes to prison at the end of this season, and in the movie they need him for something and set him free in exchange for his service. I could see them doing a prequel to the series as well because I bet they would love to bring David Palmer back (who was the only good president the show has ever seen)
  16. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ May 9, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) And if that 1-2 run lead is in the 8th against the heart of their order? You want big Linebrink in there just to save Thorton for the bottom of their lineup in the 9th? I'll pass on that, thanks. I think its pretty much a given that your best pitcher in the bullpen should be the closer. When Jenks was dealing earlier in his career, did we bring him in for the 8th inning in those types of situations? Hell, Thornton can pitch 2 innings if he's had enough rest. He's done it this season already.
  17. I don't care if we don't have another decent lefty, Thornton deserves the closer role. There is no one else from the bullpen that I feel safe with a one or two run lead. With Matt in there, I feel like we win the game. With anyone else, its 50-50.
  18. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 7, 2010 -> 09:53 PM) Thornton can't close until you get another guy can do his job as well as he does on this ballclub. Well if Thornton was the closer, he would have pitched the 9th and the game would be over
  19. I used to love b****ing about how Pods is better than Pierre in every way, but I think I'm done with all that. I'm just gonna let Pierre do the talking for himself for the rest of the year
  20. Nice way to lose a perfect game in the 4th! I'm actually amazed that didn't happen to us!
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2010 -> 07:31 PM) It's unreal, it really is. I hope KW learned, and goes with talented guys on our bench next season instead of the 2000 all-star roster. I actually have the inside scoop for next year. Our bench will consist of Ken Griffey Jr, Carl Everett, Sandy Alomar, and Timo Perez (for Ozzie)
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 7, 2010 -> 12:00 PM) Parvati is so toast next week.... which is sad since she's been the best player this year. Unfortunately, the best player doesn't always win. In fact, they don't win more often then they do. I felt Russell deserved to win last season for sure, not so much this season though. Last season, the moves he made were out of necessity. He went into the merge down by a lot, almost singlehandedly took out the other tribe, and ended up going to the finals with 2 of his own tribe mates. This season he is alienating his own alliance and guaranteeing himself few, if any, jury votes if he makes it that far.
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ May 6, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) Sooooo much paranoia on Survivor. Double elimination and both Rupert and Colby make it through without winning immunity. Russell over thinking. Agreed, he is screwing himself over this season. He was actually thinking right again by needing to split up Danielle and Parvarti, but he made that move a little bit too soon. He needed to get rid of one of the heroes first. Jerri looks to be the swing vote again next week, so we'll see how that plays out. And I'm curious to see how Sandra finding the idol will play out as well.
  24. Damn I wonder what we were all thinking. Pods average sure dropped fast to .326! Pierre is all the way up to .184. Watch out!
