2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
I like how Bob Johnson is an author of that letter two f***ing years after the Charlotte Bobcats were born. Why'd you jump in head first to something where you can't possibly compete? MAYBE F*CKING DRAFT BETTER AND MAKE FEWER STUPID MOVES. Seriously, clearly when you bought the franchise you liked the idea, but that changes two years later? The lack of foresight and planning these owners has is absolutely the main problem the league faces. They can't save themselves from... themselves.

LET'S MAKE A LIST OCTOBER '11 - FAVORITE SPORTS MOVIES
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 26, 2011 -> 09:54 AM) Finally a couple of my movies come up. Surprised to see each was only on one other person's list (Coach Carter and The Big Lebowski). I completely didn't think of The Big Lebowski as a sports movie.

2011 Video Game Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 26, 2011 -> 09:32 AM) I wonder if it will get to the point where games like Battlefield and Call of Duty will even have a campaign. I mean how many times can Russians take over the world? You play the campaign once for about 3-5 hours and than play mulitplayer for months. Why even have a campaign. For Modern Warfare, the campaign is always a very good story. However, that makes it a renter unless you want to stay up until 3am every night playing online multiplayer.

Sox likely to rely on same cast in '12
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 10:02 PM) 98% of the time I forget Jake Peavy is or ever was a member of the White Sox. That's because Jake Peavy is a myth. We've got some less than league average dude who talks a big game, not the former NL Cy Young Award winner.

Frank Thomas: I could be the White Sox hitting coach.
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 26, 2011 -> 09:33 AM) Serious question...how? Apparently because he said he'd do so in one of his bumbling, clueless, searching for the right thing to say repeatedly interviews after his hiring. Back to Frank, I see no reason why he shouldn't get a shot somewhere if he wants to be a hitting coach.

I love love love the fact that the Meth was blue on The Walking Dead. That's a nice little tip of the cap to their AMC brethren.

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 11:22 PM) Sorry been so slow to post. Yep, here's all the awesome swag I received: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/706/swagh.jpg/ Thank you again. Knightni wasn't lying, the Maggs SLU, PK and Buehrle cards are ones I sent him a few years back. I don't recall what for, but either way, he's a pimp for donating that to the PTC contest winner.

LET'S MAKE A LIST OCTOBER '11 - FAVORITE SPORTS MOVIES
I'm so pissed off that I didn't submit my list in time. For the record, I would have probably listed Varsity Blues, The Sandlot, Rookie of the Year, Rounders, and Caddyshack somewhere in my top 10. Caddyshack would absolutely have been #1.

Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 03:33 PM) There is a Tice quote that says something like "Carimi could play LT, we just think hell be a great RT." To put it in context, prior to this year only 2 players played LT for Wisconsin since 2005, Joe Thomas and Gabe Carimi. Thomas started at LT as a sophomore, Carimi as a RS Freshman. The reality is no one on the Bears has close to the experience as Carimi at LT (and as Ive shown previously, he had better measurables than Webb at the combine) You are the go-to Carimi-ist at Soxtalk. If you think he can do it, I don't see why we wouldn't want to try to protect Cutler's blindside with the best option we have. Of course, I also don't see why we'd make zero standout additions to the O-Line this offseason when bountiful opportunities existed, and I also don't see why we'd lock in on Roy f***ing Williams as the huge upgrade to our WR corps.

Frank Thomas: I could be the White Sox hitting coach.
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 03:45 PM) I think a fellow that put up the numbers that the Big Hurt did in his career knows something about hitting. Whether he is the choice for hitting coach remains to be seen, but I would have no problem with it. The Big Hurt is a dedicated Sox team member. Yeah, I love the experts around here dismissing him because he was cantankerous as a superstar or because of his batting stance. He was able to make adjustments over the course of his career, and if it's something he has interest in doing I don't really see why he wouldn't get a fair chance at the gig with the White Sox or another organization based on the back of his baseball card alone. In case anyone is somehow in need of a reminder... http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/t/thomafr04.shtml

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 03:16 PM) This topic reminds me, here is something really unlikely... what would happen if everyone in a city (or even just a neighborhood) flushed their toilets simultaneously? A lot of turds.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 02:59 PM) Theo Epstein doesn't travel by airplane. It's not that he is afraid of flying, he simply rides a flaming chariot pulled by winged, white horses. love. post.

Frank Thomas: I could be the White Sox hitting coach.
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) I would say that in this particular position, if the person were to come off as too much of an asshole, he would likely alienate several players and wind up failing. Yeah, but I would say, in this particular position, you really probably have no idea what Frank's coaching style will look like. Writing him off because he was sometimes distant or a prick 10-15 years ago when he was on top of the game is silly.
