  1. QUOTE (G&T @ Mar 30, 2011 -> 01:02 PM) Go to a friend's house. We'd ride our bikes to Ben Franklin for penny candy and that gum that came in a paint can that turned your mouth colors. Maybe stop into Blockbuster. Used to walk or ride bikes through the forest behind our house. I knew every pond back there. Lots of cool spots. Played a ton of roller hockey. Damn, you just described my life ages 9-13. I'd also pick up huge boxes of baseball and hockey cards at Ben Franklin, but the rest is spot on... you must have lived in Loves Park!
  2. QUOTE (zenryan @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 05:31 PM) f***ing dumbass Aqib Talib. The guy has been a problem child since day 1 when he got into a fight at the rookies orientation. Now he's accused of pistol whipping firing a gun at a guy who beat up his sister. Throws a wrench in the Bucs draft. Was most likely going D-End with their first pick but who knows now. I can't really hate on him for protecting his sister.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 30, 2011 -> 12:16 PM) IIRC the contract goes UP until he is done with the Cubs, i believe he made 17 mil in 09 and 19 mil last season I checked prior to posting, silly. At least the site I was on said it maxed at $18 million per from '10 - '14.
  4. Every time I look at that Alfonso Soriano contact, I remain in disbelief that Jim Hendry continues to be in charge of the Cubs' roster. Soriano is 35 years old, and his contract pays him $18 million for this season. That's bad enough for a declining outfielder who cannot hit an off-speed pitch and has nothing left on the basepaths. However, this worthless idiot gets paid that same $18 million annually for 3 seasons past this year. He will be 39 prior to his final season with the Cubs. That is going to make for an expensive buy-out if he even gets to that point.
  5. Someone please remove the word "did" from my subtitle. I sound like an idiot.
  6. I remember watching CNN's bottom line go through endless NCAAB scores to get to the NHL scores, and it always going to commercial right before NHL, I'd have to wait 30 minutes to find out if the Hawks won. There was no other option... that was like 1996! What did you used to do before the Internet became widely available that has completely changed for you since then?
  7. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Mar 30, 2011 -> 09:51 AM) Danks should make know wheres close to Billingsley. This sentence... this is a sentence.
  8. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 30, 2011 -> 09:08 AM) I'm not saying only the injury should be punished, it should be based on the act...but if there's an injury, it should be a more severe punishment. I'm not along the line of "however long that guy is out, you are out" suspensions but if the guy was injured, the act itself was definitely worse, and well there are consequences for your actions, luck or not. I'd agree. That's kind of how the NHL has been rocking penalties for awhile now. I mean, a minor penalty is 2 minutes, but if said penalty causes the other player to bleed, no matter how weak it looked, it's a double-minor 4 minute deal. This seems similar in that regard.
  9. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 07:17 PM) More ridiculous than A-Rod for MVP, anyway. Yeah, that was my point. A-Rod being picked for MVP is far from ridiculous.
  10. I have a hard time seeing Danks stick around with the Sox... he seems determined to find his way to free agency and get what will be a huge payday the White Sox can't match. Either way, I will enjoy watching him pitch until that moment... because he is awesome.
  11. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 30, 2011 -> 12:13 AM) Thank you, sir. That's exactly what I was looking for. Your reply simply should have been:
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 30, 2011 -> 09:02 AM) MLB has officially created a new 7 day DL for players with concussion symptoms. That's actually quite awesome.
  13. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 30, 2011 -> 08:01 AM) LOL @ LeBron missing the starting lineup announcements because he was "in the bathroom" Jeez. Man up, dude. Thank you, Miami Heat, I had almost forgotten how comical you can be when you lose because it'd been so long.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) Heck his rehab schedule would put him on track for the April 19th slot. Barring a, you know, setback.
  15. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 12:25 PM) I'm with Scotty to give a finally healthy (for how long?) Quentin some credit and some time, say it with me: TCQ. I remember TCQ.
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 12:39 PM) I really don't think the Twins improved. They won the AL Central last year with Justin Morneau missing the 2nd half of the season. The entire half. If he's back to full-health, they've improved significantly by inserting a f***ing MVP into the lineup.

    Japan Tsunami

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 01:26 PM) The difference is not the boiling point, it is what happens in the event of evaporation. If you evaporate fresh water, you're left with only small amounts of deposits. If you evaporate ocean water, you're left with substantial deposits of salt. If you're pumping salt water into a reactor around fuel rods, and that water is evaporating, that deposits the salt on the fuel rods. The fuel rod design is such that they're supposed to get really hot in the middle but have reduced temperature at the edges where they release that heat into the water. A diffusion gradient is set up in temperature. However, if you wrap the fuel rod in salt, you create another barrier to effective heat removal into the water. The salt acts as an insulation layer, causing the temperature in the fuel rod to go up as heat removal becomes less efficient. If heat removal becomes less efficient, this can cause the rods to reach their solidus (melting point), at which point the rod integrity will fail, you have a meltdown, and potential release of the material from the rods. Furthermore, salt in water is an electrolyte, it's corrosive. If you're pumping salt water through metal pipes, that dramatically enhances the corrosion of those pipes and can cause additional spillage. Balta. I am impressed. You know your s***.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) Ok, I'm lost, what does any of that have to do with a bus crash in Englewood? I'm thinking two things... Jenks grabbed the wrong link and ss2k5 didn't read the story he was quoting with hilarity.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 12:46 PM) The A-Rod for MVP and Cardinals winning the division with no Wainwright kind of ruins whatever he says about the Sox. I like how A-Rod for AL MVP is more ridiculous in your eyes than Posey for NL MVP.
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) I edited the subtitle because I don't want to get naked with you. That was the only reason I clicked the thread.
  21. Derrick Rose and the Bulls are just driving ESPN crazy. I couldn't care less what Colin Cowherd thinks.
  22. High of 40 degrees with snow/rain mix. Fun.
  23. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 28, 2011 -> 02:12 PM) Taking that cartoon seriously is akin to taking TDS as "news", a joke in the cartoon itself, which was funny. This. It doesn't make it any less funny.
