  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 29, 2009 -> 01:07 PM) How is a comic book going to have a person playing the character? I believe I misunderstood the direction of the post.
  2. Has anyone played Punch-Out!! for the Wii yet?
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 29, 2009 -> 10:53 AM) Rumor has it DJ Qualls will play the young McClane. Funny s***.
  4. I really see us re-signing JD for a solid amount and keeping Pauly at first.
  5. QUOTE (juddling @ May 29, 2009 -> 06:46 AM) not sure about this idea but what the hey....... It’s like the old saying goes: “This might just be crazy enough to work.” BOOM! Studios, which is already heading a coup with its licensing of the Incredibles and the Muppet Show (as well as great series like Unthinkable and Irredeemable), now has one more weapon in its arsenal: Die Hard’s John %@$#%@#in McClane. According to solicits, Die Hard: Year One is due out in August, and will go back in time to 1976 to explore John’s first year in the police force, a la Batman Begins or Casino Royale. Howard Chaykin will be writing, while Steven Thompson will be drawing, which already sounds to be completely awesome, especially considering how often people in the comics industry talk about Die Hard. Link I don't know how they are going to make Bruce Willis look young enough to pull this off. And if they are planning a different actor to play John McClane, I'm out.
  6. The sooner the better. Even if he struggles this kid is not the type to have his career ruined by being brought up a couple months too early. He'll get his adjustment in and be hitting a consistent .300 by mid-September and we'll all love him for the next 15 years and the 2-3 more Championships he leads us to.
  7. I didn't know people lived to be this old!
  8. Don't forget about the rumored boost to his Nike deal if he signs in NY, CHI, or LA!!!1!!1
  9. QUOTE (rangercal @ May 28, 2009 -> 12:12 PM) This may be your worst post since joining soxtalk. Yes, AJ, we know Lebron can do no wrong in your world. Seriously, though, he's got plenty of help.
  10. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ May 28, 2009 -> 11:57 AM) I've read this a couple of times, but I need some actual names who we can sign and/or acquire with that money. Because I don't see anyone as good as Peavy becoming available. Josh Beckett - $12MM club option with a $2MM buyout Erik Bedard Justin Duchscherer Rich Harden Tim Hudson - $12MM mutual option with a $1MM buyout John Lackey Cliff Lee - $8MM club option with a $1MM buyout Brett Myers Brandon Webb - $8.5MM club option with a $500K+ buyout Todd Wellemeyer
  11. QUOTE (WCSox @ May 28, 2009 -> 11:46 AM) FWIW, one of the baseball commentators (forgot if it was ESPN or MLB Network) suggested that Peavy prefers the NL because he likes to bat (career .181 BA in the majors). Apparently he wanted Auburn to allow him to play a position in the field on the days that he wasn't pitching. I'm not sure if any of this is true, just reporting what I heard on TV. His career BA is bad, but he obviously applies himself to hitting. 2007: .233 2008: .265 He's batting .095 this year though.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 28, 2009 -> 11:39 AM) 1 for 3 with a double in his debut thus far. They should have just brought him all the way up.
  13. So... Gordon Beckham is already in fantasy leagues... so feel free to add and stash!
  14. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ May 27, 2009 -> 11:00 PM) Rumor mill sub-forum please? I was begging for this in chat last night. It's going to get ridiculous if we don't open up Trade Winds again.
  15. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ May 28, 2009 -> 10:36 AM) I wonder if some of these players realize how childish and foolish they look when they throw tantrums. Can anyone recall a time when such an outburst benefitted the player or their team? It is so counterproductive. The only exception might be if you clearly were in the right with no question regarding the validity of your argument, and you are known for being a reasonable, calm veteran who never is known to overreact or b****. Then, people take notice and assume that you were in the right since your reputation is so spotless. Obviously Z has not earned such a status as a gentleman, however. The best is after Z gets back to the dugout and takes several swings at a gatorade machine. The dugout staff must love him, too. Carlos Zambrano is such an epic "Me-first" player it's ridiculous. If I were a Cubs fan, I would hate him.
  16. QUOTE (The Critic @ May 28, 2009 -> 09:41 AM) Dude, I've been waiting my whole life too! They won their last one 2 years before I was born! The Detroit Cups are "consolation prizes" to me. My first sports heartbreaks were 1971 and 1973 - god-damned Canadiens! Wait? You root for the Hawks AND the Wings? yuck.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 28, 2009 -> 11:18 AM) The logic for absolving Rose is that Rose should have never had to go to the NCAA in the first place. If Rose could have entered the NBA draft there wouldnt be so much pressure on him to get a good SAT score, so that he can then quit college to go to the draft. I doubt it was about going to Memphis, my guess is that if his SAT score was so low that he couldnt get into Mephis, he could not have gotten into any Division I program. If he cheated the system, it was so that he could go on to play in the NBA. Cal cheated the system so he could get a competitive edge. Some one taking the SAT for Rose didnt make him a better basketball player. It'll still be a very small blow to an otherwise good-boy persona that he has been worshiped with.
  18. QUOTE (Cali @ May 28, 2009 -> 11:21 AM) Mike Judge peaked with Office Space. Fixed. Beavis & Butthead >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> King of the Hill as well.
  19. Watch Inappropriate Soundtracks: Braveheart and more funny videos on CollegeHumor
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 28, 2009 -> 11:03 AM) Link. This series always gets such weird selections of regular 1-2 season cast members... Lost in this is the fact that Don Draper's real-life wife, Jennifer Westfeldt, is joining the cast as well.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 28, 2009 -> 11:03 AM) Link. This series always gets such weird selections of regular 1-2 season cast members... Hopefully he gets killed.
  22. QUOTE (The Critic @ May 28, 2009 -> 09:34 AM) Why you tryin' to hurt my heart, man??? ....Like there's such a thing as "enough happiness", anyway.... Sorry, my whole life I've been waiting for a Cup, you've had how many in the last two decades?
  23. QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 28, 2009 -> 06:10 AM) I just look at Cleveland 's supporting cast, and to me, the only addition they made was obviously Mo Williams, who's a guy who's never delivered in the playoffs before, and now he's making all these guarantees. Orlando has a better bench (Pietrus for one has done a fantastic job guarding Pierce and James and knockin down 3's in the post-season), and Alston has argubly been better than Williams so far. If the Cavs are going to have any chance of winning the series, they need Mo Williams to be the player he was during the regular season. I don't see that happening. Clevelan'd supporting cast is as good as any in the league. People are just making excuses for Lebron. Maybe if he hit a few more of his free throws they would have won that last game. Lord knows the refs are giving him enough freebies.
  24. QUOTE (The Critic @ May 28, 2009 -> 02:48 AM) Heart says Wings in 7. Head says Pens in 6. I want my heart to be correct. I think your heart's had enough happiness in the last two decades.
