  1. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 07:50 AM) Considering the Sox were kicking Boston's ass when the game was rained out earlier this year, and beat their ass at the make-up game, and beat their ass 3 times in a row, Mr. Wakefield he of the 0-4 record with an ERA over 9.00 lifetime in ALDS games should shut his mouth. His pitching obviously makes teams hot. Excellent Post
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) Its a rally whore, much better than the rally crede. The Rally Crede ain't much to look at, but has done this team marvels.
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) Jerry Springer is a Yankee fan. Not only a Yankee fan, but when the Cubs blew it a couple of years ago, he was designated a "spokesman" by some national news outlet on how the Bartman incident traumatized the city. His eyes cried a river for the Cubbies.
  4. Without a doubt, this is the funniest reading I've done in a LONG, LONG time!
  5. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) I disagree. Even if we lose this game I like our chances. I like our pitching match ups the rest of the way out. Our bullpen is also much stronger than theirs. YASNY, as usual, your insight is dead-on. The Talking Heads were all over Francona for leaving Clement in too long yesterday...but who is he going to go to for middle and long relief?
  6. Bunting will be critical, especially early on. One article this morning said that the Cell's ground crew had the area around home so wet that it did not dry the entire game. Got like that!
  7. I'm worried about Buerhle, but not about Wells. We scored a ton today and usually that means no pop in the bats tomorrow, but I think the Sox have the gods of April back on their side. My prediction: Sox 6 Beaners 5
  8. Is this the first installment of a 2nd "Boston Massacre"?
  9. I'd feel more relaxed with DH in that closer role. Jenks is impressive most of the time. Most. Still, we're sitting better than the Bosox in that department.
  10. AR's offensive numbers of late have not been impressive, and it would really, really be helpful if he became a Mr. October for us. That said, His defensive efforts don't fail, and his attitude makes him a Sox favorite.
  11. No longer a HR hitting team? I thought we rank like 3rd in the AL in home runs.
  12. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) My lineup for tomorrow: LF Perez CF Anderson DH Gload RF Borchard 1B Blum SS Uribe 3B Ozuna C Casanova 2B Harris That said..... RIP EMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ouch! That line-up is brutal ...but perfectly understandable. If we were to win with that crew, then we are destined for glory!
  13. Let me premise this thread with the absolute affirmation that never, ever would I want the Sox to lose. That said, if Boston and Cleveland are forced to play on Monday, do we gain a little edge in terms of rest for the playoffs? The only way for that to happen is for Cleveland to win tomorrow.
  14. I hate to bring down the average a bit more, but add my record: 1-3
  15. QUOTE(Irishsox1 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 01:44 AM) I think this just proves that Maggs only cared about himself. Myabe it took a spanish speaking manager to figure out that he's a loser, but I'm gald he's not on the Sox anymore. Maggs has his money, the Sox have the hardware! Magglio had in his hand what few White Sox players are granted: our adoration. Unlike Cub fans, we are "stingy" with our loyalty. Very few players are put on the Robin Ventura pedastal. Mags had that...and he threw it all away. Too bad for him, but I'm not about to cry him a river.
  16. I remember Ozzie saying early in the season that he wouldn't look at baseball "tradition" (i.e., sticking with veterans no matter what) when choosing line-ups, and especially pitching rotations. We'll see if that happens. El Duque's day has come and gone. Actually, I wonder why he keeps going with Marte. There are at least four arms in that bullpen much better than his.
  17. Although I don't have good feelings about El Duque, after tonight, you have to include him. BMac also needs to be in the post season. Marte, bye-bye.
  18. This is an extension of a discussion on WSCR. El Duque has hardly been a shining light of late. Does his playoff experience make him a valuable component in playoff situations anyway? BMac on the other hand has been very good of late. Does his inexperience and inconsistency overall make him too risky especially given you have to trim your roster quite a bit for the playoffs?
  19. Any suggestions on where tonight some of us can congregate to celebrate?
  20. Here's to the Sox: ] Here's to Cleveland :finger to Minnesota to Detroit to Kansas City
  21. Idea for one of the computer geniuses out there... Could some kind of email card be developed to celebrate our division championship? Cool graphics and sounds would be essential. I'd love to send this sort of thing to all my friends...and Cub fans too.
  22. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 09:24 PM) This is the game right here; they score, we lose. We proved last night we got no comeback punch anymore these days. S-o-o-o-o-o true! How many games first half did we come from behind to win? Lots. That hasn't happened much the second half. I can only hope that by learning to battle early and hard, we get a little tougher.
  23. I was in row 9 and had WSI guys all around me. I had a good time and they're good guys, but definitely a clique and snobbish. I kept looking for Soxtalk folk. We must have been invisible to each other.
